I’ve lived down the street from this place for six years, and I’d never been. A friend is moving, and this was his karaōke joint. One of his last nights in town, he wanted to go back to The Sawmill to do some karaōke. The waitress was super nice, probably because she knew my buddy. The karaōke wasn’t too bad. There were only a couple singers that made me want to gag, but the rest were all pretty good and actually chose some good songs. Domestic buckets were 5 beers for I think $ 11? And you could mix whichever ones you wanted(ex: 3 buds, 2 bud lights). Not too shabby. As soon as we walked in, though, the smoke hit me square in the face and never really left. A few Outlaws walked in, and that was probably the closest I had been to one. They were pretty quiet. Everyone seemed nice and chill– No fighting. Most people there seemed to know each other, and there sure was a wide range of different types of people. The ambiance, besides smoky, was bright and blue. If you’ve ever been to The Peppermill out west, it’s a bit like that, only you don’t have cute servers in little lollipop overall shorts(think sexy Candy Land or Lollipop Guild).

Nothing to write home about. The staff was friendly and the beer was cheap. The food was very average.

I was attracted to this place after moving a few blocks away. The name drew me in, you just don’t see a lot of saloons these days. Once you get over the cool name, there’s not much else to see. A pool table in one corner, a jukebox cranked way too loud and the bar located in front of you. The food is typical bar fare, but pretty inexpensive. The pork tenderloin wasn’t very good. Obviously pulled out of a freezer and thrown into a deep fryer. If you’re just planning on drinking, however, Sawmill is not a bad place. Nightly specials like $ 2 margaritas and $ 2 long islands make weeknight drinking a bargain. Just don’t stay too late, I’ve heard the place can get a little rough sometimes.
