WARNING: Brain Freeze!!! I love Hawaiian Shaved ice, and after I consume the first one at the start of warm weather, I am addicted all summer long! However, in Indy, Hawaiian Shaved Ice vendors are far and few between. I was ecstatic to find that Puka’s Hawaiian Shave Ice truck moved from their former location at Ellenberger Park to the corner of Audubon and Bonna copping a squat on the rapidly expanding Cultural Trail through Irvington. Their hours are 5:30 — 9:00 everyday, and they have a choice of approximately 20 flavors. Consumers have a choice of up to 3 flavors, ice cream on the bottom, or The Puka Hiva, which is a snow cap of sweetened condensed mile. Pricing is average and quite reasonable for the quality and serving size. The staff is friendly, and Puka’s is family owned.
