This is a great little trail in the Irvington neighborhood, a perfect 5 mile round trip from Ellenberger Park.

The Pennsy Trail is a divided trail, meaning that a portion of it rests in Marion County and another portion resides in Hancock County. Both the portions in Marion County and Hancock County are marvelous.

I’m always a fan of getting active and outdoors. I’m super-stoked about the development of the long-neglected Eastside. This trail is still in development but when its completed, INCREDIBLE! It will go East-West from Terre Haute to Richmond as part of the National Road Heritage Trail! Seriously, how cool is that! You can find more info here: The Cumberland area was just completed and much more scenic. Can’t wait to see how it improves the the local towns.

The Pennsy Trail is short, but well-paved, new, and near my house. If I only have 30 minutes to ride I will head over. I’m excited for it to reach completion and hopefully connect with Greenfield. It starts on the east side of Indianapolis, on the east side of Arlington Ave. just south of Washington St, and continues east from there about 5 miles total. It’s a rails-to-trails initiative on what used to be the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks. You’re essentially riding behind people’s back yards and strip mall parking lots, so I wouldn’t call it scenic… but it is there, and is a good resource for commuters and to exercise on.
