Not vintage by any stretch of the imagination. I bought a jacket here with all of the tags cut out and found out a few months later that it was from H&M. Every time I’ve gone here I’ve been disappointed. Clothing is not organized, looks dirty(including huge sweat stains) and is over priced. To top it off service is sloppy and unprofessional. One of the times I’ve visited the cashier completely ignored me while sitting behind the counter wearing sunglasses. To make it even better, she was listening to loud rap music that included plenty of profanity and racial slurs.

As we drove down street for Indieana parking I saw the Minx shop window and knew I’d find my way back by end of day. As we walked in a woman approached us asking for an opinion of a hat worn by her friend. I loved it on her, explained why and then she asked my husband for a man’s perspective. Surprisingly he jumped right in and after hearing his comments she was convinced. I found 4 pieces I would have purchased in a second if they were close to my size. When this vintage attire was new I was young and that size. Those were the days but now I know this shop exists so I’ll be back. What’s old is new and recycling aside, just cute things here.

Anything vintage and I’m there. Since I live in the Square and am spoiled but not 1 but 2 amazing vintage stores, it’s super hard to get out to other vintage shops. I pass by Minx a lot on my way to church and every time I stare at the store windows and dream of wearing those gorgeous clothes. So finally I did it. I stopped the car and pulled in. I should mention on the side of the building there is a little drive that has some retail parking spots good from 6 am-6 pm. I always look for free parking. Once inside this place had stuff top to bottom of all sorts of decades. I also loved the fact there was local artwork on the wall. I dig it. I prowled around trying to find something to try on and just to see what there was. There was a selection of newer clothing, more like consignment, toward the front. That had me worried because I came for vintage. But as I cruised around I saw some great finds. Needless to say I walked out with a vintage black lace dress from circa the 50s or 60s.grrr.and bought some really cute dark red pumps to go with it. A nice little outfit for a nice price. I will definitely be coming back here more often!!!

I bought a dress. But, not just any dress. A dress that’s quite possibly two sizes too small. As I rolled past Minx’s gorgeous window display on 16th Street the other day I said to myself for the umteenthmillionth time, «Hey Britt! you should really make the time to stop in there!»(Like how enthusiastically I speak to myself?) Finally, a sassy white dress flared out at the hips in the window did me in — I put the Honda in park. When I saw the size of this sassy buyme dress, I knew I shouldn’t ask the friendly shopkeeper to take it down for me… so, there I was, asking her to take down a dress that I knew wasn’t going to fit. Stubborn with a capital ‘S’. And my stubborness didn’t stop there. After a bit of work and shimmying, the dress straight out the 80’s was reluctantly on(with a good two inches of zipping that just wasn’t going to happen). I bought it. I couldn’t leave without it. I’m boundass determined to learn to sew and make that dress work. And then once I figure it out for this one, I’ll revisit Minx and continue to purchase items that don’t fit me. Like how I have no intent to lose weight and fit the dress? Instead, I will make the dress work for me. Stepping up on my soap box: Okay, all you«going green» folks out there. You wanna know a great to save the planet without having to buy all sorts of overly priced organic garments? Think reduce, REUSE, recycle. Stop creating new clothing and make use of what’s already here. Goodwill and me are like this(index+middle finger knotted). And now, Minx and me are like this(index+middle finger knotted). Stepping down from soap box. One more note: this place is a dinner party theme heaven. Within 15 minutes, I had decided to have a derby, 80s, lace and international dinner party.

I love Minx! Great little store with lots of great vintage finds. Just bought a wonderful emerald green coat I’ve had my eye on for a couple of months. Owner was super nice! I will definitely add this to my vintage shopping favorites.

Minx makes me really happy. Minx makes me smile inside & out. Minx gives me the feeling that fun folks are finally starting to come out of the woodwork in Indy. I had always been boggled(in the bad way) that there were less than a handful of curated vintage /consignment shops in Indy. I mean… we’re a city, a real one, a big one; c’mon. We need other people’s tee shirts and hats and hat boxes and purses and tassels and coats and shoes and dresses and necklaces; it’s a necessity, frankly. I have a need for clothes to make me feel good. We could go on & on about how clothes is materialistic but that’s just plain hogwash. We’re a city, and if we’re going to be amongst one another we should consider what type of clothes we’re wearing, and I like other people’s clothes better — especially old people’s clothes. Minx is the very first store front tenant of the revitalized Penn Arts building. They’ve widened the sidewalk, added parking along 16th Street. I love this block of our city. Better yet, I’m going to love shopping here. Typically the men’s sections at shops like this is wack, not here. Ample boots, coats, hats, jackets, ties and tees. The women’s section is glorious. Minx will frock you with their ample frock collection.
