Long time user… Had always meant ro come here, but since I’m rarely in rhis area, ir’s never happened — until today. Finding myself alone with some time on my hands, and needing to pick up a bottle of wine, I stopped in. Glad I did! I missed the free tasting, but did my own. Tried 3 good reds, snacked on some delicious bread, cheese, and pâté’. Lovely little place, very welcoming — and I’m now a fan of Pinot. Will definitely be back!

This review is not only for the wine, beer and liquor selection, but also for the food and vibe surrounding this underrated establishment. The locally-owned spot is intimate, with tables which allow you to shop for your wine, have a glass in the meantime, and order one of their fantastic flatbreads. One of our favorite aspects of Mass Ave Wine is that it is baby-friendly! We bring our 10 month old in with us, order a bottle of wine for the table and enjoy the great natural light that comes through the large street-level windows. The owner is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. I’d recommend stopping in on a Tuesday to enjoy the wine-tasting, which can be paired with some of their fare. I’d highly recommend Mass Ave Wine as not only your local wine, beer and liquor store, but also as a great place to grab a drink, unwind and enjoy some great food.

As an enthusiast wino, I loved stopping into this gem on Mass Ave. The owner previously lived in Napa for 23 years and is extremely knowledgeable about all the wines she carries. She was able to recommend a few different reds at a reasonable price point. In addition to the wine, they also host great events and keep you up to date with their newsletter. They have weekly cocktails they offer after work, four-course wine paired meals in store, brunch, and a curated wine club. My visit only skimmed the surface of this great store and I will definitely be back to take advantage of some of these events!

Slipped in while waiting to have dinner elsewhere and now this place is bookmarked for return! Cute coffee shop atmosphere gone high end liquor and wine, limited beer.

This is an excellent place to stop on Mass Ave and honestly has/does far more than the name implies. In addition to being a wine shop, they offer on-site glasses and bottles of wine. Plus, they have a great food menu including flatbread pizzas and a great selection of charcuterie and cheeses. Pricing is very reasonable and service is good. Biggest complaint is that they selected far too small of a space. We have walked out several times when there was a major line.

So many nice things to say about Mass Ave Wine. Let’s start with the free wine tasting Tuesdays. 3 wines to taste for free, accompanied by a brief presentation about the wine by knowledgeable expert, and with an optional($ 4) tasting plate consisting of 3 appetizers/small bites(one per wine). Always thoughtful and delicious! Sometimes cheese and crackers, sometimes pasta, sometimes beef and crostini… It’s whatever they concoct to compliment the wines, and always a delightful surprise! And don’t worry if you’re gluten free; you can tell them and they will whip up something modified for you. If you purchase any of the wines from the tasting($ 12-$ 25) you receive 10% off. The ladies I’ve seen who work here are very helpful and knowledgeable. And the FOOD. Oh geeze, do not pass on the food. You may think a wine shop is only good as wine, but you would be wrong. Bruschetta«flights», sandwiches and salads, all made with local ingredients — delightful!

I was very happy when a friend of mine suggested we stop in for a bottle and a snack. Walk in and you see bottles everywhere! Wine, beer, and even local liquor. Not a bad start. They have so many different wines it’s hard to decide which one to get! Take you time and let a label jump out at you. Take a table and order something from the menu. They serve a variety of finger foods(humus, cheese), sandwiches, individual pizzas. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon just catching up with old friends. Few things to note, the space is very small and fills up quick. When people are waiting for tables at nearby restaurants they tend to migrate to the Wine Shop which makes it very hard for those of us who actually want to visit enjoy ourselves. The noise level can get above average but hey, I contribute to that as well. There is someone who works there that isn’t very friendly. I ran in on Christmas Eve as a favor to friend who had forgot to buy white wine. Lucky for me they were open — no one was in the place. A few labels were suggested but this person just didn’t seem happy. It felt very«get wine and get out». When I check in on Unilocal I was offered a 10% off coupon which I was promptly told it would not be honored because that wasn’t her deal but the previous owners. Ok — I get that but just be nice or polite about the situation. Going back, heck yes I am. Truly a unique offering of wines so I will gladly overlook some of the shot comings.

I have stopped in several times for a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, they are always super rude.

After 5+ years in Indy and countless times walking up and down Mass Ave, only recently did I have my first experience at Mass Ave Wine, and I certainly see myself returning, repeatedly, in the future! I strolled in after a wedding on an early Saturday evening and was met by two very lovely and knowledgeable women. After gazing at their selection of dry reds(I’m a Malbec gal), they were able to help me narrow the choices down to what they thought I would enjoy most. I chose two bottles and decided, on a whim, to imbibe onsite along with a charcuterie board. From an array of options, I selected three varying cheeses — Dana Blue, St Andre Triple Cream, Double Gloucester — and prosciutto for $ 4 ea. After being sliced fresh, the items arrived with the addition of fresh grapes and crackers. The cheese, particularly the triple cream, was melt-in-my-mouth delicious and the effect was only heightened by the Malbec I was drinking. Unfortunately, the prosciutto was completely dried out as though it had been sitting refrigerated for too long. Upon arriving, the place was practically empty. But by the time I was ready to leave a couple of hours later, every table in the small shop was spoken for. This is a fantastic location to find an enjoyable bottle of wine, take a date or have a girl’s night out. The ambiance and staff make this a place I look forward to returning to.

A really nice little wine shop with a bunch of choices. The clerk was very informative and kept our bottle in the fridge while we drink our glasses outside in the heat.

Great local place for the budget weary wine connoisseur. A wide variety of wines, most of which are under $ 20, and knowledgable staff to help you choose. Also a great place to relax with a bottle of wine and a quick bite with friends on any given evening.

Great place to unwind after work. Sharing bottles of wine with the Goat Cheese Pesto Torte and a Charcuterie Board of fine meats was perfect. Most of the time I’ll stop in on the weekends when I’m riding my bike around town with friends. The staff here is also great. I left my cardigan one night, and they were able to hang on to it until it could be picked up.

I’m just gonna say it — I love this place. I’m pretty stingy with my 5-star ratings but seriously, everything about Mass Ave Wine is perfection. Location — away from the craziness at the«quiet» northernmost end of Mass Ave, sandwiched between Mimi’s Meatballs and Best Chocolate in Town. Service — fantastic. Tuesday was my first(of many more visits!!) and the man and woman working were friendly and über knowledgeable about the wine. Best part — FREEWINETASTINGTUESDAYS.(I almost don’t want to call more attention to it because I’m worried it’ll get too popular, but hey, it’s just too great not to). Plus, 10% off a bottle from the tasting(the Shoppe selects 3 new ones each week for the tasting). Thank me(and the other Unilocalers) later. This place makes for an awesome date night or place to catch up with friends post-work. I will be back. Every. Single. Tuesday.

I cannot believe I haven’t visited this place until now! A friend of mine had told me about their Tuesday wine tastings, but I always had something else on the schedule. Sure am glad I got to go! To start, this place is everything a boutique wine shop should be: cozy, eclectic, and with that touch of comfy that makes you feel right at home. The staff(including the manager) personally come around to each and every table to make conversation, clear glasses, and overall ensure every guest is having a good time. For those who don’t know, on Tuesdays, there is a free wine tasting of three different bottles selected by the shop. Those bottles can then be purchased at a discount of 10% off the normal price! And if you’re thinking, «Wine shop? I can’t afford a specialty wine!» Look no further than their selection of 100 wines priced at 15 bucks or less – some as cheap as 8 bucks a bottle. Seriously, the wines featured for this evening’s tasting were all under twenty bucks(one was $ 11!) This is not your average hoity-toity wine shop, people. The best part? You can purchase any wine, then grab a glass and DRINKITRIGHTTHEREINTHESTORE. No muss, no fuss. Of course, every good wine requires a good pairing, non? For that, look no further than their menu of small and large plates, sandwiches, and pizzas. May I recommend the goat cheese pesto torte? This beautiful cheese comes with grapes and a variety of crackers to accompany its creamy goodness. No matter what you order here, you will likely have restaurant envy once you glance at the table beside you. In short, I can’t wait to come back here, preferably for the wine-and-chair-massage nights on Wednesdays, which sound ah-ma-zing.

Great independent wine shop/restaurant for meeting your friends and enjoying an excellent selection of wines and snacks. Been there quite a few times for events, a light meal, or buying wine from a smallish but diverse wine selection. Tuesday nights Mass Ave Wine has wine tasting and other nights have other events. Wine price range is probably perfect for Indianapolis $ 10.00 — $ 15.00 for a majority of red or white wines. Expect to see the place have greater business due to additional retail/apartments/restaurants in the area. Don’t forget to checkout the parking behind the apartment complex across the street(ask for details about what is allowed). During the week there can be only one employee there so her hands are full — don’t be in a rush and you’ll enjoy this place.

Great place with excellent help from the staff. Quaint, cozy, and full of the perfect wine and snack selections. The tastings are awesome and they have lots of variety to choose from. It’s not snooty. A wide range of price points are covered. Check out their events schedule, as they have massage nights and free tastings and all sorts of cool stuff. Cheers, Salute, Prost, & Na Zdorovie

Quaint little spot on a newly bustling side of Mass Ave. I don’t know why I don’t stop by this place more often. They always have a fun selection of wine and even a few ciders and beers. The locations itself is small, but comfy and inviting. Every Tuesday from 5:30 — 6:30 they offer free wine tastings. So one day a friend and I decided to check it out. We sample 3 wines that were dynamic. Mmmm boy! We throughly enjoyed ourselves sampling and chatting. I already want to go back for more. On Wednesdays you can get a psychic reading and 10% off a bottle of wine. Be sure to sign up for their weekly e-mail list so that you can keep up with all the fun events and new selections. I definitely plan to stop by more often especially on Tuesdays! Plus, they are right next door to The Best Chocolate in Town. Now that’s a win-win!

Mass Ave Wine shoppe in downtown Indianapolis is a hidden gem! The manager Lisa is welcoming, friendly and has a wealth of knowledge about wine, having been a sommelier. The setting is peaceful, quiet and quaint. They have some good food/appetizer options while you’re there too. My personal favorite is the pesto/goat cheese and cream cheese tort with crackers. So good! If you’re in Indy — want a chill evening, afternoon — or some good wine to take to a party, then you owe it to yourself to stop by the Mass Ave Wine shoppe!

Just enjoyed a wonderful evening at one of Mass Ave Wine shop’s monthly dinner and wine pairings. What a great deal for a four course meal, delicious wine and great company. Now under new management the place has a new, refreshing atmosphere. Management was super friendly and accommodating. Her food is delicious as is her elaborate wine descriptions. I will definitely be attending one of the free weekly wine tastings or other events going on here. Also a note when you stroll in there on a Saturday afternoon: get the bottle instead of two glasses of wine, it’s cheaper. Ching Ching!

Don’t let the name fool you. It’s not just some neighborhood liquor store. They have a full liquor license so you can order a glass of wine, a cold beer, or a cocktail(limited selection on all) and sit at one of the handful of tables. There is also a limited menu of sandwiches, pizzas, and sweets to cure the munchies. The owner is extremely friendly and the overall experience is very laid-back and low-key. As for the wine selection(bottles for purchase), remember to keep an open mind. You won’t find Cupcake, Mirassou, Mondavi, Turning Leaf, Barefoot, or Estancia here. Not that there’s anything wrong with those labels as they produce fine vintages in their own right. It’s just that Mass Ave Wine Shoppe tends to carry some of the underdistributed brands.
