Absolutely one of the best places for pizza! I love the atmosphere of the place. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I especially like the variety of their pizzas and their beer selection.

Great place to go. This is an institution. I’m originally from NY — and this is not NY pizza — but it’s great. Pretty solid selection of custom pizzas, some great local beers, and a staff that really hustles. Super busy on weekends and nice nights. Get a slaughterhouse five if you like meat — you will not be disappointed.

The specialty pizza options are amazing. My husband and I ordered one 16″ which was half Meatball and half Cheese Louie(sans red onions). The toppings are delicious, the prices are very reasonable, and the service was pretty good as well. I just wish the crust tasted as good as the rest of the pizza. It tasted like thick matza or a saltless cracker. It also looks like they could benefit from an upgrade to their tables/seats and overall layout. Some of the tables are located rather close to each other or on corners(ours was) and I felt I had to keep moving my chair to avoid getting hit from someone carrying a pizza tray or the large socializing family that stood directly behind me for the longest time. Other than that, we’ll definitely be returning to try some other pizzas. The Cheese Louie was my favorite if I had to choose between the two halves that we tried.

Where do I start? There are so many things I love about Jockamo’s. It’s hands down the best pizza in Indy and has been great for the Irvington area. I love the location. While it gets busy on weekends and evenings, it’s usually easy to find parking on a side street. I’ve never had to drive around for 20 minutes looking for parking like I have downtown or in Broad Ripple, so if you have kids and don’t want to haul them half a mile from the car to restaurant, this is a good option. It also has a very kid-friendly menu, if that’s what you’re needing. There are two sections of the restaurant, the main seating area and the bar. Obviously if you’re not 21 you can’t hang out in the bar but the main seating area is large and usually service is really quick so don’;t expect to have to wait more than 20 minutes for a table. The service has always been good if not exceptional. Our servers have always been young, fun, and like any good server, doing a million things at once and doing it well. The pizza is out of this world amazing – you can choose to build your own or pick from one of the many premade options they offer. My personal favorites are the Cheese Louise and the Bollywood(though I’m not sure they’re serving the latter anymore or if it was just a short special) The breadsticks and parmesan garlic dipping sauce are swoon-worthy and the portion sizes are extremely generous. a 10 inch pizza will easily feed 2 very hungry adults or 3 averagely hungry adults at 2 slices a piece. They don’t skimp on the toppings and the crust is very unique – if you’re wanting NY thing or Chiaco deep dish this isn’t the place for you. The crust is crispy but chewy and the toppings are sometimes local(meats from goose, collabs with Papa Roux’s etc) They also offer local beers on tap so if you are coming for beers and catching up this a great place for that. In the 8 years I’ve been going to Jockamo’s I’ve never once had a bad experience. The service and food is everything it’s cracked up to be and I highly recommend it as one of the many east side gems Indy has to offer.

Can see why the are Indy’s top pizza joint 3 of past 4 years. We had the slaughterhouse 5 and BBQ chicken pizza, both were excellent.

Jackamo’s pizza is only for those folx who like their pizzas cooked on a saltine or matzo cracker. I’m not one who does. I prefer my pizza on a bread-type crust, with some thickness to it which is more than 1⁄16th of an inch. I ordered the DIY pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and extra cheese. The mushrooms were scarce, the sausage was miniscule but the pepperoni was ok. The sauce was very spicy, not what I like on my pizza. I ordered extra cheese because I though I would be getting mozzarella cheese on my pizza but it didn’t taste like it. Don’t know what kind of cheese that was, but it had little flavor. «Pizza bones» are a really good snack the next day, but these«pizza bones» are nothing more than left over crackers. Guess this place is only for those who prefer really, really, really thin crust pizza.

I’m so confused. I have reviewed this place(yes, the Irvington location) three times, and it never shows up! So, I’ll review it again and hope that the third time is a charm. Jockamo’s is a staple pizza in the Indy area. It definitely gives Bazbeaux’s a run for its money and all of the other pizza joints around the city. I love a lot of things about this location. 1– Its location. There are lots of things to do around, but a lot of parking so it’s not like trying to find somewhere downtown. 2– the staff. They’re very friendly and down to earth. I’ve never had a back experience with customer service. 3– the pizza. It’s great! 4– their breadstick dipping options. If you’re craving some pizza and haven’t checked this place out(or any of their locations), be sure to check Jockamo’s. It wont let you down!

How can you NOT like Jockamo’s?! This place has hands down the best pizza in Indy. There’s no question. If you think otherwise. we can’t be friends. I’ve tried almost every pizza on their extensive menu. Sure some of them are hit or miss, but you can never go wrong with the Jockamo’s Special. I drive from Speedway to eat here. It also doesn’t hurt that one of the best breweries in Indy is next door(Black Acre Brewing).

This place is much larger than it looks on the outside, so there’s plenty of seating for couples or large parties. The GOATCHEESESTUFFEDPEPPADEWPEPPERS are outstanding, be prepared to arm wrestle over the last one. Their PIZZA lived up to the hype as well… we got a large… half SLAUGHTERHOUSEFIVE and half JOCKOMOSPECIAL. While the Slaughterhouse was good in a meaty way, it was the JOCKOMO special that rocked my pizza world, the combination of balsamic vinegar and artichokes was outstanding.

I’m going to have to give this place another shot sometime, because I apparently missed out. Don’t get me wrong, the service was great, the food was ok, it’s just that nothing was anywhere close to the almost 5 star rep this place maintains. We tried the Tecumseh pizza. The two things I look for first in a pizza is the crust, and the sauce. The crust was good, the sauce was very underwhelming. Also the sausage on the pizza(the reason I ordered it) was extremely dry. I will happily come back and give it another shot, but unless it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced I can’t say I’ll be back after that.

The great thing about this place is the endless possibilities when it comes to designing a pizza for everyone in your party to love. They are very nice about creating the best experience even when its crowded and busy. My personal favorite is to build your own pizza, but the others I love are the Slaughterhouse Five, the Mediterranean, the Thai, and the Jockamo Special. These are my favorites because I love unique flavors and international cuisine. The breadsticks and dipping sauces are also delicious. If you’re wanting something different, try the hummus or ranch, but if you’re a more traditional person the nacho cheese is very yummy.

Great pizza, imaginative specialty pizzas, and a good local beer selection. The server was helpful and offered good recommendations. We ordered breadsticks with alfredo dipping sauce, which was delicious, if a bit thin. The pizza was a half and half since we have different tastes. My daughter ordered a meatball pizza for her half, which was simple, but she loved. My half was the Bollywood, with a perfectly spiced and complex masala sauce, grilled chicken, onion, garlic, peppers, toasted coconut, and goat cheese. Every bite was magic. I’d like to try some of their other pizzas, but I will have a hard time passing up the chance to eat this again.

This is hands down my favorite pizza spot! I live in Irvington and they even deliver to my door! Anytime I have family or friends coming from out of town, I always take them to Jockamos. We have never left disappointed! The breadsticks with creamy parmesan sauce is the best thing ever! I love the house salad with their warm sweet and spicy dressing. I’m a vegetarian and I’ve had all of their specialty vegetarian pizza’s except the Mediterranean one. I love them all! My current favorite is the So Cal. My carnivore friends really enjoy the Lazy Boy, Bollywood, and Cheese Louise Pros — Great service, creamy parmesan sauce, variety of specialty pizzas that are great, craft beer and wine, affordable, fun atmosphere, pizza names are fun, delivers, bar area. Cons — They took a favorite off the menu, the 7 layer! I really wish they’d bring that back!

What is there not to love about Jockamos? From their logo to their service to their pizza, I love it all. Oh and the prices are wonderful! I am about to move into a historic home in the neighborhood, so was excited to try out what historic Irvington has to offer. I have tried: Sausage /Pepperoni make your own pizza — great. It even reheats quite nicely Baked Potato(it might not be called that exactly… But definitely something similar) — imagine a baked potato in pizza form. Perfectly done. Moscato — yep, they have moscato which always scores a star in my book. Never have had to wait. Always have found parking(though sometimes it’s harder than others even with the lot behind the building) Truly a great value for the quality of the pizza. So excited that I will be within delivery(and walking!!) distance.

Holllllly cow! I’m ashamed of myself for not finding this place sooner. I had a friend recommend J-Mo’s and I called in a to-go order. I wanted a Caesar salad and asked the man who answered the call what he recommended and went with the«Slaughterhouse». I’m not a huge meat lover when it comes to pizza but this pizza was mindddddblowingly good. The Caesar was also an amazing flavor profile and I’d highly recommend both. I will be back and can’t wait to try out more!

Absolutely great local family joint with a great beer selection. What they do great: beer selection, breadsticks with dip(recommend getting one nacho cheese, one parm garlic, one pizza sauce). Oh and they have New Day meads rotating. For your friend who wants to drink but doesn’t like the taste of beer, it’s kind of sweet, really really good. Good for those who do like beer also. Appetizer salads are also very solid! What they do good: really solid pizza. Not the best pizza around, but really good. We regularly get the lazy boy, and love it. Other perks: Ambiance is awesome Only drawback: be prepared for a wait on a Friday night. Worth it.

True story. I went to college with Mick McGrath, the founder and owner of Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza. In fact, he was the editor at the Sagamore at IUPUI while I served as the arts editor. Unfortunately, while he was busy taking his career and future seriously I was doing a high-speed downward spiral into emotional oblivion that involved a rapidly increasing fondness for all things with a central ingredient of alcohol and a tendency toward self-destruction fueled by one too many life tragedies in a row. Yeah, I know. Who’s ever heard of a downer of a Unilocal review? Don’t worry. I promise that it gets better. Flash forward almost 30 years, or as I like to call it «Yelp Ambassador Brittany’s entire lifetime,» and McGrath has become the beloved owner of a mini-chain of beloved Indiana pizza joints while I’m sitting at home on a Tuesday night writing a Unilocal review. Yikes. Seriously, though, after I finally dealt with grief issues, sobered up, and did a Monty Python and started looking on the bright side of life, I watched my own good fortunes skyrocket in the worlds of writing and activism while I couldn’t help but smile with familiarity and gratitude as I watched McGrath’s good fortunes rise. Even at my worst, and he definitely dealt with me at my worst, McGrath was a good guy with a nice weaving together of compassion, talent and common sense. While I normally frequent the latest member of the Jockamo family near Ft. Ben, I was in the Irvington area tonight and decided to revisit this original locale. While the Ft. Ben location is in a brand new building with a shiny, wooded and pretty awesome décor, the Irvington location of Jockamo is a more casual, more artsy, more laid back and more communal in spirit locale. As I arrived, and it should be noted that those in wheelchairs should use the back door that has a ramp, I was fortunately to arrive early in the evening dinner hour with only a few customers inhabiting the restaurant’s open concept dining area. I was escorted to what could have been a four top in an area that offers up both tables and booths. I was surrounded by what looked like a small group of friends, one family, one other customer in a power wheelchair(that had plenty of space), and a couple of the neighborhood police officers who were clearly familiar with some of the customers. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, you already know that for most folks(certainly not all) that Jockamo has worked its way into the hearts and minds of many Indy residents as a favorite pizza and favorite place to eat. While the menu is, in my opinion, a menu that works best for groups of diners rather than my usual solo self, they do offer a variety of sandwiches and even a relatively small 10″ pizza that can easily be a 1 – 2 diner option. As I hadn’t had lunch today, I opted for a 10″ sausage pizza and my usual iced tea. I tend to be of the opinion that Jockamo works best for those who are more experimental with their pizzas. I enjoy the sausage, which I’ve had more than once, but it’s definitely not a city favorite for me — it is most likely in my top 5. Jockamo also offers appetizers, a beer/wine menu including local options, salads, sandwiches and, of course, a wide variety of pizzas including a build-your-own option. My meal came in at just over $ 10 — a good value for a very good pizza. My server was Catie and she was friendly, helpful, got my always desired iced tea refill, and checked in regularly but not intrusively. I couldn’t help but notice she used the word«friend,» a simple word but one of those words that connects people. It’s a subtle way to build relationship and, of course, building a relationship is also building a customer base. I’ve never really been the type of person who thinks«I knew them when,» but it’s pretty cool to think about Mick McGrath in the early days at IUPUI and how he’s grown his vision and provided Central Indiana places that serve up good food at fair prices with quality customer service. It makes me look back on those days with an even greater degree of fondness(at least the days I can remember — let’s face it. Some of it is still a pretty foggy memory). While I can’t quite go a 5-star experience, Jockamo has become one of those places I go when I get a pizza craving or simply need to experience a little kindness because, after all, sometimes being called«friend» really can help you look on the bright side of life.

I’m not sure how I haven’t reviewed Jockamo’s yet. A neighborhood staple, the best pizza in Indy hands down. If you’re a standard pepperoni lover, or like to get a little crazy with your toppings, they have you covered. They offer more than just pizza. I think I lived on the greek salad alone my first year in Indy. Just make sure to get creamy parmesan dip with anything and everything you order. You won’t regret it!

Jockamo’s is a gem. So much in fact, that I think it is one of the best pizza places in Indy. This location is located in charming downtown Irvington and we make the 30 minute drive to eat here because it’s worth it. Our service has ALWAYS been spot on even though they are usually very busy. We always start with an order of their six huge breadsticks with choice of two sauces. Their house creamy parmesan sauce is the bomb. Try it and you’ll see why. You can get the 12 or 16 inch pizzas half and half at no additional charge. Their crust is a thin crispy style. My favorite is the Baja pizza topped with Smoking Goose chorizo, plenty of cheese, green peppers, red onions, salsa, and fresh jalapeño. There is a bar area, in addition to the dining room and outdoor patio in the back, and they have a large wine and beer list, with many local options. Their prices are a bit higher than your standard pizza chain but you are receiving high quality food and can literally taste the difference. The menu also includes sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Their key lime pie is phenomenal. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out.
