Goodwill Store

You all have no idea how many times Goodwill has saved my life. Ok. Admittedly, that was an exaggeration. It HAS saved my wallet a few times but «life» was kinda far fetched. If you have a few hours to kill, stop by your local Goodwill store and shop around. I’ve never once left empty handed.

8÷21÷2015 was 1 of many trips on a Friday night that will forever remain in my memory as a terrifying experience! This store lacks professionalism during the evening shift.
I was shopping with my family & employee, David, who was more interested in conversing with other employees, yelled at my children. They were within 3ft of their Aunt when this occurred, trying to get a cart for our items. Just then he approached them saying: No running guys! They weren’t running, but skipping as young children often do. Not only did he say that, but he also looked their aunt straight in the eyes after noticing the kids weren’t alone.
I watched the horror from my position & just when you thought things couldn’t be any worst… I stopped David & asked if he was the manager. Of course he wasn’t, it was evident by his lack of professionalism & cantor. He approached me (while towering over me at 6’2″, I’m 5′ tall) yelling at me about the store policy for NO RUNNING in the store. I simply wanted him to know that 1^st of all, they weren’t running & 2ndly they are well behaved children that don’t need to be reprimanded by him, especially in the derogatory tone he used.
This man is certified CRAZY & shouldn’t have any contact with the outside world! David continued to yell at me, walk up on my personal space & tried to intimidate me using his body was a threat to me…
If Goodwill Industries are in the reforming the community business, by employing ppl like this, they’re not doing the community any justice!
Let’s just say when Jasmine, so called manager on duty at the time, let this man continue to accost me & my family. She asked/​told David to go to the back which he refused! Insubordination to the cosmos!
Long story short, if you plan on shopping at this store, BE READY to get down & dirty with the foolishness of a culture.

My absolute favorite Goodwill store is the one located in my hometown of New Castle, but if I had to pick a second favorite (and #1 favorite in Indy), it would definitely be this one. I love the thrill of the hunt at Goodwill and this one always seems to have good stuff where I feel particularly proud of myself once I find it.
One of my little Goodwill secrets is the fact that Target donates tons of new stuff that didn’t sell. I’m not just talking clothes. They have shoes, books, household goods, furniture, picture frames, appliances… seriously anything. And they are all new. And this location seems to hit the jackpot when it comes to Target donations. I can’t tell you how many clothes I’ve gotten from Goodwill that are new. Probably at least 50% of my wardrobe… no kidding.
Also, first Saturday of the month = a storewide 50% off sale. Yahooligans! Best Saturday of the whole month, I tell ye.
Check this Goodwill out… you won’t be disappointed.

This is my second favorite Goodwill. Tons of good brands are dropped off at this location for some reason. I have become a bit of a thrift store snob. No more buying things b/​c they are awesome like that big purple adult sized tutu. Now I walk down the sweater aisle touching all the sleeves and only stopping when I come across cashmere. No more Old Navy jeans or Mossimo, only Eddie Bauer will do these days. This one is has a small junk department, but a ton of clothes; mostly women’s. I have also started buying items with the knowledge that I can take things to be altered. It has expanded my thrifting possibilities. The employees here are cool, they don’t want to talk to you and you don’t want to talk to them unless necessary. I can shop and poke around in peace. They have started locking the dressing rooms. That cramps my style a bit, but the employees are approachable and helpful in your search for the woman with the key. Go on Monday when the color of the week changes to get the 50% off color items early.
