Very good deli and you get a lot of food for the price. The Reuben was fantastic and the potato salad was too.

I used to love this place, but they changed the bread(for the worse), give you a smaller portion side, and I think they raised the prices. Until they go back to the old model, you’ll find me at Subway.

Excellent sandwiches, very fresh, great size! Had the beef dip for lunch and the Wallstreet club for dinner! The French fries were wonderful! So good at lunch(Tapestry Park) brought my sister back tonight(dinner at the newly opened deli in mandarin) for dinner! Definitely will come back and can’t wait to bring our friends from New York here while visiting. I’m so glad we found this deli! Love the whole atmosphere! Hope they keep up the good work!!!

Good NY deli walking distance from Bankers Life. Huge sandwiches and variety. Ordered the Reuben with corned beef and tried it with ½ mustard, ½ Russian dressing. I preferred the Russian dressing. Wish the corned beef was a little thicker when sliced. Good shop for a quick bite.

A Groupon brought me into Gandolfo’s New York Deli at CityWay. I had never been to Gandolfo’s before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Here are a few highlights for other potential first-timers: –The sides are delicious, unique and fresh. The broccoli salad has an unexpected twist to it – lots of cheese cubes in it(surprise!). –The kids sandwiches come on delicious italian bread. Its yummy, but if your kiddo is under 3, it might be too tough for him to really chew. –The prices are a bit on the high side, but the portions explain why. –The service was on point. We had a noisy toddler with us, and one of the staff members visited our table to have a full blown conversation with him and then offered to wrap up our leftovers for us and bag them. Not typical for fast-food, but certainly appreciated! The food wasn’t necessarily my favorite(I’m not a huge meat fan and don’t love super duper bready sandwiches), but if you like meat and bread this is your place!

We really enjoyed our sandwiches here today. Tried a Taxi Driver and a King of Queens. The Taxi Driver caters to the spice fiends out there with the grilled jalepenos on it. The King of Queens appeals to those of us who like a Ruben with cole slaw instead of kraut. It is a welcome departure from the usual«sub» sandwiches. This New York style deli has a generous offering of sandwich combinations, and on most of them, you can order a half or whole. We tried the pasta salad, macaroni salad, and the cukes and onion. I really liked the cukes and onion. If you are a Hellman’s person, you might like the macaroni salad. There is no tang or Miracle Whip zip to it at all. The past salad had a more Italian taste than a vinegar taste. So, upon my return, I will probably opt for the cukes again. Also had the cookies, which provided an sweet finish to our lunch. All and all the cost is appropriate for the value. I look forward to trying some more of their selections on another visit.

We weren’t planning on eating here, but after we parked and saw the place we decided to give it a shot. The venue is not very big and there is limited seating. We must have came at the right time or got lucky for lunch because there wasn’t a large line or a wait to sit somewhere. Menu offers a lot of options. I ordered the Urban Cowboy. It was good. It wasn’t overflowing with copious amounts of meat or sauce, but it was enough for me. It was served with a side or chips. They do have more than sandwiches. Their menu offers soups, salads, pasta salad and a veggie sandwich options. My co-worker ordered the French Dip and really enjoyed it. Mentioned the au jus sauce wasn’t overly salty like most au jus sauces. What we enjoyed the most was learning they will deliver to our office. We’ll be utilizing that this winter for sure. We are not in the heart of downtown so not many places will deliver to us. We fall just within their radius so I won’t complain about the location. They also cater and have a boxed lunch menu. This is a great and affordable lunch option for the downtown area.

I used to love this place. Ate here once or more per week since it opened. Great sandwiches and the daily lunch special made for a reasonably priced lunch for downtown. Not any more. Today I go in only to find that the daily lunch sandwich special is history. Strike one. So I did order their most exceptional Dagwood sandwich. All sandwiches now come with a deli side(or chips). I also asked for a water since they no longer throw in a drink now the the daily special is gone. So the sandwich was served and it simply wasn’t what it used to be. Entirely different bread that simply was not good and way too hard. Seemingly less meat too. Strike two. Lastly, the deli side now comes in what looked like a small dixie cup and was about 2, maybe 3 forkfuls. Strike three. Please let me know when things get back to normal. Until then, I’ll be at Subway.

I like this chain, but this location is not ideal. Dining area is too small. Long lines and not enough tables. Takes forever just to order and when you get your food there’s no where to sit. The staff was nice, but very disorganized and confused. Forgetting parts of orders, food coming out in wrong order, etc. Maybe just call ahead and get your food to go every time?

Two stars for service and 4 stars for the food. Do not try to eat here if you only have an hour for lunch. Although I’m sure the service was affected by the noon lunch crowd, when I went in there were 8 people in front of me and I checked my watch. It was 25 minutes before I ordered and another 30 minutes before I got my food. Just as I was asked for my order, the phone rang and I had to wait while he took that order. What ever happened to «I’m waiting on a customer right now, can you hold?». When I left at 1pm after getting my order to go, there was no one in line but about 5 customers standing around waiting for their order. I must say though that the pastrami was very tasty and tender. The marbled bread would probably have been quite good had I been able to eat the sandwich fresh in the restaurant. But with a warmed sandwich, it was steamed soggy by the time I got to eat it. They probably have a lot of online and phone orders at noontime as well as walk in customers. But it’s clear they can’t handle all of them efficiently.

Oh Gandolfo, I think this is the start of a great long term relationship. I only wish you weren’t located in City Way so you’d be within a more realistic walking distance from downtown attractions. However, this may be a good thing as I usually eat way too much when I’m with you, so walking to get here may be the way to go. In the couple times I’ve been here, I haven’t yet decided on a «regular» order. I’ve been intrigued by the special every time, which has been a different but good sandwich, along with a side and a drink. Typical sandwich place, pick your sandwich, bread, decide if you like all the toppings and then choose hot or cold. I’ve always gotten my sandwiches hot, so that is probably a preference thing, but I have never been disappointed. Some favorites so far: Little Italy, Bridge Hampton, Long Island Chicken Salad I also really like the macaroni salad, although it is definitely on the salty side. That is my only complaint about this place — all of the food tastes salty. I guess if you’re eating at a New York style deli this is expected and is a small price to pay for delicious food. This would be a great option downtown for lunch or dinner or even breakfast. I’ve yet to try their breakfast sandwiches or bagels but if the other food is any indication, those are great as well. Definitely a better option than Subway and I actually like Gandolfo’s better than Jimmy John’s as well/ Next time: the Manorville breakfast sandwich.(There will be many next times since I hope to try everything.)

Hello! So I have lived here in commute for a year– I have walked past this location daily. I figured«How good can a NY style deli be in Indianapolis» Well suffering from strep and the flu, I needed to get out of my apartment and find dinner close– so I Unilocaled it up– up popped this place– so off I walked– Have you ever been ill away from home? It’s the worst. No creature comforts, nothing. And while my apartment is large and nicely appointed, after 7 hours where I normally would be in meetings putting ducks in rows, thinking outside of boxes, and busting down paradigms, it can get stir crazy. Despite the fact that the combo of flu/strep makes my hair hurt off I walked. I thought«you can mange 200 yards.» Slowly, and somewhat miserably I walked in significant discomfort. That ended soon enough– I entered and the first thing I noticed is the unmistakable smell of a great deli. I was surprised because in candor, it’s the type of smell that is layered in generations. Like a good sourdough mother, it is here because of the years of complexity and trials. How could this be? It’s not more than five years old! The next thing I noticed is what I named«The Great Wall of Menu.» Seriously– it’s like a school of fish– it’s difficult to focus– you just know that all of the little things will taste good, it’s just a matter of picking one. That’s kinda hard with the Great Wall of menu. I ended up with the New Yorker– he asked«half?» And I thought«your kidding right?!?» WHOLEPLEASEAND A SIDEOFFRIESWITH A(hypocritical gulp here) large diet Pepsi… In no time my sandwich was completed and delivered to my table. I ordered it take out and walked back to my apartment. The very first thing I noticed was how hot the food remained! The fries were golden crispy! And the sandwich… It kinda needs its own review. I feel like I should start a review place just for this sandwich. First– the whole sandwich is easily well over a foot long. And we are talking pounds of pastrami here. It was unbelievable. Next the meat had a wonderful aroma and a slight smoky taste which was unique to this pastrami. Made simply inside a light and fluffy bread with mustard and pickles, it was wonderful. I was only able to eat about 2/3’rds of a half, and I’m pretty sure I would have ruptured something had I ate the whole thing. Finally the restaurant was very clean, and the staff was wonderful. I will be back!

Love this little deli at CityWay! I’m always impressed with the food and service… they give a 10% discount for residents of CityWay which is nice! Great portion sizes and I can’t get enough of the potato salad… The menu is extensive and the place is always spotless!

Just had the French Dip mmmm yum! I have eaten here for lunch a few times and the sandwiches are huge, even the half size is enough for me. I got soup once and they put an extra wrapping of foil over the lid just in case it spilled on my way back to the office. Same with my au jus dip. Toppings and bread seem fresh, and there’s a ton of food to choose from. The only reason I’m only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there’s never any parking. The garage behind the building gives you 30 minutes free, but come on, who can get inside, order, eat, and get out in 30 minutes? Even the parking garages near IUPUI give you 45 minutes free.

I saw a menu for this place in Fountain Square and I had to try it. There are so many choices it will make your head spin. No doubt there is something for everyone. New York style sandwiches, yes have some! I went with the cream cheese Philly Cheesesteak. It’s nothing like a traditional Philly but no matter. It was delicious! The sandwich was big too. There are also plenty of deli sides to choose from. I will definitely be back for more.

I drove by this place the other day and it caught my eye, so when I found myself driving by during lunchtime over Labor Day, I swung in to see what it was all about. Located on south Delaware, Gandolfo’s quietly sits on City Way row. It’s neon signs claim this is a real New York Delicatessen, and judging by what I saw inside, I’d say this is true. Like a true New York style deli, the word«pastrami» might as well be a part of the name of this place. I skipped over all of the other items on the menu, like the Vegetarian Sandwiches, Turkey Sandwiches, Baked Potatoes and Nathan’s Famous dogs and went straight for the Pastrami. More specifically, the Pastrami and Swiss on Rye with Spicy Mustard, The sandwich was piled so high with meat that I couldn’t eat it all. For $ 10, this was a great deal. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this should be one of your lunch spots if you’re in the downtown area.
