The first time we went here was amazing. We were the only ones there and didn’t care about quick service(we like to relax anyways) We went this past weekend and the rude bartender with a man bun told us we had to eat at the restaurant beside it. We said we wanted to eat here and didn’t care about quick service and told us we still could not. Why not close the restaurant if we can’t come in, sit down, & eat? We left and ate at mexican place down the road.

I like the food and the décor but it’s always dead in here. The last time we went they opened at 5 but could not serve food until 6 when next door Taste opened(they share a kitchen).

Popped in for drinks with a group of people after dinner. Service was a bit slow to get beers. Maybe a keg blew, but it just seemed slow compared to other places. We will try another night for dinner and see how it works out.

Just had a great burger tonight! Had never been here before and they just found a new fan in the neighborhood! Bringing my fiancé back tomorrow. Bravo!

Love the food. And love the décor — very mid-century meets industrial. E+D(Eat and Drink) and its«sister”-restaurant, Taste Café and Marketplace, are my regular«go-to» Indianapolis restaurants because their food is consistent(exactly the same and equally delicious every time) and consistently great. Chefs Marc and Deidra nail it every time. My go-to favorites: the chèvre with roasted grapes, the tinga tacos, the crispy chicken cutlet sandwich, truffle chick peas, wasabi tobiko deviled eggs, puréed avocado/cilantro served with plantain chips, and(the city’s best damn) frites with aioli. I ordered the tinga tacos tonight; they did not disappoint. There is always a carefully chosen selection of craft beers on tap, which are always super crisp and satisfying, and a large cocktail menu. Relaxing, casually classy, always sooo delicious.

We got a babysitter and couldn’t decide between Delicia and E+D, so we decided to grab a drink and a snack at each. I suppose this is how couple’s in the mid-thirties«bar-hop» in SoBro. When we arrived at E+D we were the ONLY people there. It was kind of awesome, because we literally explored the whole place and chose the perfect spot. It also felt a little odd to be the ONLY people in a restaurant/bar in this area on a Saturday night after 7. By the time we left there were 2 other couples that showed up. Phew! Highs: –They had Abita Strawberry Lager on tap. A fave! –Extensive and interesting cocktail menu at prices similar to other spots in town –Lots of small plates and snacks w/generous portions perfect for sharing –The plantain chips & avocado mash were my fave, the sweet potato frites were a hit with the others in my group! Pork rinds were ordered and oohed and aahed over, but I’m just not a fan. If you are, my guess is you’d love this monster portion. –Great service! Our server didn’t crowd us even though we were the only people in the joint upon arrival. He was there when we needed him, and wasn’t when we didn’t. Lows: –I found the TV’s confusing. There were 2 screens in sight and both were playing different shows. –The lighting was odd. The place needs more natural light, and less harsh recessed lighting. It just didn’t seem like a very intimate space, which I think is important for a spot this small and compact to feel.

Super adorable interior-a refreshing break from some of the crowded, grunge bars in the area. The cocktail list rivals some of the best downtown and is a refreshing addition to broad ripple. I’ve enjoyed my drinks both visits and the atmosphere is relaxing and makes me want to stay a while. Not sure why this place is always dead! Just needs more bodies and it will be perfect!

Nice and cozy! Ordered a Filet Mignon for $ 34 and it came with no sides. Didn’t know until after the fact and when I asked the waiter, he said that the food is á la carte. Well I wish you would have told me so I could have made a sound decision when it came down to my coins! So my time spent there will be very limited.

A for sure different type of atmosphere in the South Broad Ripple area. Has a lot of small plate options and lots of drunk options. Good for small groups wanting to grab a drink. The Moscow mules are amazing!

Very strange place. I just can’t recommend it. Plenty of others have commented on the weird, industrial nature, so I don’t need to elaborate there. Even weirder is the lack of decent seating. Maybe they had anticipated people just popping in for a drink and leaving, but that’s not happening in that location. What annoyed me the most is that there are two small areas for sitting. Both have large televisions everywhere you look. You can’t get away from it. Why in the world would I want your television blaring old westerns, you name it, as I’m trying to have good conversation with friends. It’s not a sports bar. The food was OK. Not horrible, not great. You’re way better off going to Taste(next door – same owners I think) for brunch or one of the few nights they have evening options). The setup at E&D is just not conducive to a good night of dining with friends. Don’t waste your time. You’ll find way better options without even trying.

The basement could be a cool place to hang out and grab a craft cocktail. But, it feels like I’m sitting in the movie theater before the previews. Turn down the lights! Additionally, there was a tv playing the movie half backed in the background? To their credit the cocktails were great. Maybe turn down the lights and turn off the tv?

Tried out E+D as it was the chosen location for a college alumni event. With a confusing name(is it a restaurant or a bar?) and lacking curb appeal, I probably wouldn’t come in if I were walking by. Inside, the design is a bit too industrial for my tastes and the seating and space layout doesn’t make me want to stay with cold, hard metal chairs, weird boxy rooms. Nor do the drink prices for that matter. That said, it probably serves a niche and I’m not that intended demo and I’m cool with that.

Interesting but not unique. With its shipping crate décor and laid back atmosphere, this place is a hispter’s dream. The food was OK. The drinks were OK. The service was OK. The décor was OK. Nothing stood out, one way or another. I’m glad I stopped by — if you do the same, try the chilled beets — but I’m not sure it would be my first choice in that neighborhood. I think with a little finessing, this place could shine, but right now they are still trying to find their groove. And that’s OK.

We want to LOVE this place, but after going back and forth between 3 or 4 stars — we’ve settled with 3. It just isn’t what it could be and that’s disappointing. Broad Ripple & SoBro desperately need a legitimate cocktail spot(think Libertine, Ball & Biscuit); but this isn’t the same caliber. Taste(who owns Eat+Drink) clearly has their act together with brunch, lunch & their limited dinners(Wed & Thurs nights). The E+D space is cool(maybe too cool, possibly trying a bit much?) and the service is usually on point; however, the basement set up is awkward and we have gotten forgotten down there a few times. Upstairs has some nice tables, but the wood«stools» are awkward if you plan to have anything beyond a beverage. Also, we’ve had a few clear misses with their cocktails. The wasabi peanuts are a MUST if you go and all of the food is good(albeit, a fairly limited menu overall if you are REALLY hungry). Other favorites of ours are the hummus and the bacon & blue cheese dip. And if you do want a bit of sustence, the pomme frites are identical to Taste(and therefore, amazing). They do have a great wine & bottled beer selection along with a limited, but well curated draft beer options.

I hate this becuase i love Taste and love the owners of the 2 places but it was just not a good night. Unfortunately they say one bad apple ruins the bunch. In this case it was a bad server that ruined our experience. I met my parents here for some drinks and appetizers. The upstairs was completely packed so we were downstairs on the couch. When I arrived my parents had already gotten their drinks. Our waitress walked by our area multiple times without noticing I was there, it took nearly 15 minutes before she came back to check on us and place my drink order and at that point my dad need another drink. She brought his drink down after about five minutes but took another 10 to 15 before my drink was brought down. We thought about ordering but my parents wanted to allow me to relax with my drink before we ordered food. Our waitress again did not come check on us for another 15 to 20 minutes and at that point we all needed drinks again. We placed our order, I got some hummus and they got a sandwich with the option of either chicken or pork, they ordered the chicken. By the time our food arrived our drinks had been empty again for 10 minutes or so, it took nearly 30 minutes for food that should have taken 15 minutes. My food was perfect but the waitress handed my parents their meal and said oh you know this is port, thats ok isnt it? its nearly the same thing!!! wow! we had waited so long for dinks and our meal that they just said whatever. Once we finished we were pretty much ready to leave since we still were not being serviced at all. It was interesting because the people at the tables were getting great service, checkins to see how things were and all. We think the couch seat must have been the«i cant see them» seats… Like i said, the food was great, the drinks were great but this one server just ruined it for us! if i ever go back i would have to be careful about where i sat and who served me, which i shouldn’t have to worry about. I will give them another shot eventually and will update my review after i do.

This is a weird place, but I like weird. In an age of funky décor, this one still manages to surprise and charm. You need to experience it yourself, so I won’t spoil it by trying to describe. One note: in such a fun, interesting place, why slap those flat screen TVs all over the place? I’m sick of them. The menu is small. This is a cocktail place. But I was there at dinnertime, so I ordered the only vegetarian sandwich on the menu: Fried Green Tomato & Pimento Cheese. My expectations were low… I have childhood memories of hideous, greasy fried green tomatoes that I definitely did not like. The sandwich was mind-blowingly delicious. I can’t wait to go back. I’m hoping someone will tell me it is actually good for me, because I want to make it a staple of my diet. Our server was very cute, helpful and attentive. It is a bit expensive, and the bartender took eons to make our drinks. Regardless, we left very happy and WILLRETURN.

Though the menu is limited to snacks, sandwiches, and salads, quality of food is surprisingly very good, at least those we had ordered. The warm goat cheese with grapes was nice, the sweet potato fries with some kind of cream cheese dip was good, and spicy chipotle pulled pork sandwich was excellent. We stayed at the ground level, but our serve mentioned te downstairs area is quite nice and cozy. Good selection of beer and cocktails, so I think this would be a good place, quite chic and modern, to hang out and have a drink and maybe grab some munchies.

This is a nice spot between Taste and The Red Key Tavern on College Street. The best thing about the place is that they are NOT messing around with cocktails. They use fabulous ingredients and mixers to craft some unique and yummy cocktails. The worst thing about it is that the seating feels awkward. All those metal and wood chairs and tables hunched along the walls and cold glass windows don’t give me the feeling that I want to sit down and stay awhile. The bar feels very make-shift and sitting at a bar-stool made me feel I was balanced on a metal pedestal in a hallway. There are, in my opinion, 2 – 3 groupings of seats comfortable enough for lounging and I imagine if you can nab one of those, you’d feel like sticking around and ordering food. The food menu is brief so I don’t recommend emphasizing the«Eat» part of Eat & Drink. However, if you are killing time before a formal reservation near by or want to meet up for a drink before finding your group elsewhere in SoBro, then check this place out.

Ok — I REALLY wanted to like this place. Overall, it seems that the concept of this place wasn’t put together right. The upstairs area consists of about 5 tables, and then there is a downstairs area with about 5 more tables. The space is super small, and it is not utilized in the best fashion. A large round table in the corner of the booth seating just does NOT make sense. We were lucky enough to draw this table, and could barely sit comfortably. We had to squeeze 4 people in the corner, and then one person nabbed a chair and sat directly across from us. It felt kind of like an interview. The drink menu is really the star of this place. They offer moscow mules in the copper mug, and a bunch of other fresh and delicious cocktails. My friends tried the Moscow Mule, the Hot Toddy, the French Martini, and the Hemingway. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their selection. I, myself, tried the Fitzgerald and really loved it. Hendrick’s Gin(always a plus!), with fresh lime and simple syrup was a great combination. The snacks and sandwiches were good and had interesting combinations, but there were a few places for improvement. My friend ordered the warm chèvre & grape appetizer, but the hard, woody stems were left on the grapes, which were sitting in oil. In order to eat the grapes, you had to pull off the stems, which left your hands greasy and your clothes in perilous danger of getting stained. A simple solution would be to just remove these stems for heating the chèvre. I tried the avocado purée with the plantain chips. While it was good, some salt & pepper would go a long way with this basic dip. My fiancé tried to salmon roe deviled eggs, and gave them the thumbs up, and another couple ordered the chipotle fries and they were spicy and delicious. A variety of sandwiches were ordered(the bacon & boursin, the pulled pork, and the proscuitto caprese). They were all good and everyone was happy. This place would be a good place to come with a friend for a cocktail to catch up.

Cool new concept from the proprietors of Taste. This will definitely appeal to the Taste, Recess, Ball & Biscuit, etc., crowd. And it certainly appeared to be on a recent weekend night. If you’re looking for a trendy, modern atmosphere engendered by dim industrial-inspired lighting, corrugated metal, tables made of wood that looks like it was distressed by waves at the shore of a lonely, Atlantic outpost. Pro-tip: arrive early and snag the couch in the downstairs area for a intimate, cozy experience. Really nice staff and a great drink list, featuring classic and seasonal cocktails. We tried the Old Fashioned and the Nosferatu, and then selected a few pints off their list of local and craft beers. Three stars for the snack selection. There were a lot of things that sounded appealing, but nothing that cried: «You must have me!» We tried the truffle fries(pretty yummy, decadent) and the avocado purée, which was essentially guacamole. The chips that came with it taste like salty wantons and just overwhelmed the flavor. The portions are modest and if you order more than a couple items along with your cocktails, your outing will probably divorce you from some dollars. Don’t come too hungry. Overall, E + D is another great option for the classy cocktail seekers of Indy. Appropos of almost nothing, I love the glowing sign outside — it reminds me of an old fashioned carnival, though I can’t quite figure out why.
