Eagle Micro Computers

Eagle Micro came to the rescue when our hdd crashed on a 7-​year old MacBook Pro. This place is down-​to-​earth, local, and they clearly know their stuff. If you like always supporting corporations and paying useless extended warranties, don’t go here. If instead you appreciate real people who don’t treat you like another number, this is your place. They’ve been in business for over 20 years – Eagle Micro is the real deal.

This is one of my «go to» places for computer stores in town. When I need something and can’t wait for mail-​order, I check to see if Eagle Micro has it. They’re great for specialty cables, add-​in cards and miscellaneous doo-​dads. Not quite the extensive selection of, say, Fry’s, but you get a lot of service and expertise at this store. They’re also good for older memory.
When one of my consulting clients needs a custom-​built new computer, or a reliable used computer, I sometimes refer them to this store. Whether it’s a pre-​built one they have in stock, or building something to order from new, used or not-​so-​new parts.
This is a good place for people who know they need a custom whiz-​bang computer, but don’t have the confidence/​time/​expertise to put one together from mail-​order parts.
They also do drop-​off service on your laptop/​desktop. Bottom line: these guys know their stuff. If you need special consulting/​custom-​build stuff, I trust them over Fry’s/Best Buy.
Yeah, you can buy custom-​built computers at varous mail-​order/​internet stores, but sometimes you just want to talk face-​to-​face with the people building your computer, and have a LOCAL brick-​and-​mortar store to take it to if something doesn’t work right. This is that place.
And, everytime I’m there, it seems like someone is bringing in or picking up their laptop for repair or data recovery, so they seem to be popular for that kind of work.
