Tried Penne Alla Vodka and it’s delicious! Service is good and place looks nice. Not too expensive.

Loved it! One of those awesome ‘hole in the wall’ type places you hear about. What a great, simple place doing some quality cooking! Had a halibut special on my first trip and was blown away! The classic spaghetti sauce is solid, eggplant parm quite good and veggie pasta dish also solid. The fresh bread is oh-so-garlicy, but oh-so-good and the limoncello cake was to diiiiie for – probably because it was made using mascarpone as well. Oh. My. New fave Italian in Indy! Long live the east side! Oh, and they take reservations.

Ordered bolognese pasta($ 16) and a ravioli appetizer($ 8?). Got buttered bread and chicken soup on the side as well. All were very good and portions were a nice size. Restaurant has classy décor and feels cozy. Servers were very nice. Love it!

First time and I might return for the lasagna. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi pasta in a lemon sauce. And my sister ordered the lasagna with the meat sauce. Both plates $ 18. Again it was enough portion to slit our meals. Sorry to say the shrimp scampi pasta was okay, nothing to rave about. I prefer some sort of cheese or Alfredo sauce with my pasta. The lasagna was good. The bread was delicious and the salad was okay. They have a house dressing that is mediocre. Overall nice family owned restaurant.

The food here is amazing. The salad, bread, and my lasagna. My husband got the chicken piccata, my son got the fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was fresh and amazing. Even though we were completely stuffed, we got dessert. My husband got the white chocolate raspberry cake, and I got the cheesecake. This was hands down the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. I plan on coming back to try something else, but sampled each of the other entrees and everything was wonderful. I’m only sorry now that it took this long for me to try it out. I would much rather have fresh wonderful food here, than from the chain down the street. We will definitely be back!

Great food in a small quiet place. The ravioli was filling and the meatballs were pretty good. Lots of choices on the menu. Glad I ate here.

We came to DePalmas for my birthday on a whim. We’ve driven past it many times and I always wanted to try it out. My family was skeptical but I got to choose where we ate. I called ahead for seating and they were able to seat us immediately which is a good thing. The restaurant is a small cozy place. Good atmosphere, not too loud. The wait staff was very attentive and answered all the questions we had about the menu. And even double checked his answers. The food was good. Not too salty or garlicky and the portions were good, we didn’t stay for desert cause we were full. The price want bad either

Great food on the East side of Indy where creative, fresh cuisine is an anomaly. We were greeted by Juanita, who was friendly and made the experience even better. Our server on the other hand was all business and while she was efficient, she lacked warmth and personality. AND I HATEBEINGCALLEDSWEETIEANDHONEYWHEN I *MAY* BEOLDENOUGHTOBEYOURMOTHER. Can you tell it bothered me?! Ask for Juanita with the nice smile and don’t skip dessert!!!

The lasagna is simply amazing. It’s rich and hearty but not overwhelming. I’m guessing the ref sauce would be good on any pasta. I had the lobster bisque soup and it was excellent as well. The complimentary bread had a nice dose of garlic and was soft and warm. Staff was accommodating, responsive, and helpful. Great little gem in a glut of national chain restaurants. Don’t pass it up!

When you travel, you’re often faced with a decision… do you go with a predictable, but tried and true chain option, or something indy which offers more variability for both upside and downside. You won’t be disappointed going off the beaten path here. First, the food is home made and very good. I liked the attention to the small details, like not skimping on the quality shrimp in the scampi. The salad was ‘real’ as well and not a complete Sysco out of the bag kind of a thing(one personal dislike though… Spanish olives) and the bruschetta and bread were fresh. I also liked the décor and ambiance, which was traditional, like you might see in an old movie. That is, not over the top announcing its ‘Italian-ness’ with say pictures of Rome or Florence posted all over the place like you might see in a chain to make up for its cookie cutter architecture. Not plush, but tidy and appealing. And, the staff was engaging and appealing. So, what’s not to enjoy? Go there now.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My family have been regulars for years now. The food is delicious and authentic. It is always fresh and hot. The portions are unbelievable. Way more than enough for me(but I always finish it anyway!). My favorite is the fettuccine carbonara, followed closely by the lasagna. And you can’t beat the freshly-baked, homemade garlic bread. And for dessert, try the lemon mascarpone cake. The ambiance is nice. It’s not too stuffy, but you leave feeling as if you’ve had a nice dinner in a nice restaurant. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s a local, family-owned restaurant. These places tend to be a bit more expensive. I’ll pay it without hesitation, though. Here’s to many, many more years of DePalma’s!

You get what you pay for @ De Palma’s. Portions: If it’s included(soups/salads) they are 3 bite fulls at best. If it’s your entrees, they are a full meal. Desserts are generous as well. Flavor/Quality: EVERYTHING but the soups were excellent. The soups had no distinguishable flavors and you would have only been able to see the bulk of your soup if you lifted it up with the spoon like we did in our photos. I’d almost rather them be an Italian restaurant that doesn’t offer Italian soup than the quality and quantity of the soup that they offer. Again Everything but the soups were quite good. Ambiance: De Palma’s is surprisingly dark. May not be suitable for older patrons, difficulty reading the menus and being able to navigate around the dark tables. One of the few places on the east side that you’re going to find linen. You need to realize this is a renovated Pizza Hut with a bar in it so there is not a lot of room. Also you’re going to want to make sure you find the padded seats. It looks as if they’ve only supplied upgraded seating to about half their tables; otherwise you’ll be sitting on the Pizza Hut equivalent chair and paying for a much more expensive meal then your seating would lead you to believe you were going to have. It is clean, It has no strong odors, it is what you would expect from a New Mom and Pop restraunt. Prices: Appetizers, Dinner, and Dessert for 2 is $ 60.00 Service: Ask for Chris he was exceptional. Prompt, courteous well kept and well mannered. Parking and Seating: You may want to call ahead. There was no one when we entered but it quickly filled.(Again smaller restaurant). So even though no waiting it could be different with each visit. Restrooms: Clean and smelled wonderful. Recommend? Everyone should go at least once. A local family business that offers memorable meals.

After hearing so many raves about this restaurant we decided to try it. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and was very disappointed. The meatballs were so over cooked that I had cut away the crispy edges. The red sauce was thin and bland. Despite their best efforts at décor the place stil felt like a Pizza Hut. The service was very good however.

Oh my goodness, this was such a delightful surprise. We’ve lived near DePalma’s for a year and a half and have always passed its unassuming location as we drove by, but tonight we decided to go for it. It was so great! The inside of the restaurant is unexpectedly small, but we found it to be cozy. Everything about it was very comfortable, and I didn’t find the décor to be anything different from what I’d expect. They did have a TV playing CNN in the small bar area which I found to be a little out of place and may have made the room louder than expected. We interacted with two waiters and a busboy, and they all provided notably excellent service. I got the fettuccine carbonara on the recommendation of other reviewers, and it was pretty fabulous – about 1000% better than when we make it at home. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs(yawn, right?), and he said they were pretty great, which is huge praise coming from him. The bread served with dinner was so deliciously garlicky and was definitely a highlight of our meals as well. I had the chicken tortellini soup and he had a house salad, and those were good too. Two pasta dishes and one Coke came out to be $ 35 before tax, which I think is a little pricey, but there were enough leftovers for us to each have another meal. Random but important tip: they have those absolutely fantastic dinner mints that melt in your mouth, so you can look forward to that as you exit. We will definitely go back to DePalma’s. There are some specific house specials that we seek out at other Italian restaurants in the city, but if we were craving Italian food in general, we would head to DePalma’s for a solid experience. I’m thrilled that it’s in Irvington!

This place is great! The servers were very nice and helpful and the food is amazing. We got a appetizer of fresh mozzarella wrapped in seared prosciutto… oh my goodness it was delicious. Then I got the chicken parm and my wife got the chicken Marsala and both were wonderful. If I didn’t live a couple hours away I would come here a lot!

Wow. Just wow. Found this place while in Indy for work and eating here almost makes me wish I lived here. Everything made from scratch, decent value, excellent service and great atmosphere – everything our party ordered was exceptional so I have no specific recommendations other than eat here early and often. You’ll be fatter for it but you’ll be happy too.

I adore this place. Every item is good. Interesting wine list. Everything seems real and fresh. Find this place and enjoy simple Italian food done correctly. Great staff too. Update. Dang it, they had to close. Don’t know what happened. I’ll miss their food.

DePalma’s is an east side gem and should be embraced by all who love a) Italian home cooking b) a pristine environment and c) quality service for a fair price. We tried the home made ravioli and spagetti and meatballs. Both were very tasty. Both were enough to have next day for lunch(from a light eaters perspective only)! Go, enjoy and mangiare bene(eat well)!

Every time I go to DePalma’s I am blown away by the service and the recipes. Tonight I had the lasagna draped in Bolognese sauce and it is now pinning me to the armchair. Incredibly satisfying. I tasted the fettucine carbonara tonight and was likewise very satisfied. The wife and I treated the parents and they, too were impressed. As others have mentioned, you will drive past this unassuming location and façade a dozen times before you notice it and likely dozens more before stopping. But when you do, you’ll discover the joy many of us have found: that DePalma’s is the real cannoli.
