Went on a Tuesday night with my husband for the first time since moving to Indianapolis. We loved everything about it! The ambience is quaint, the waiter was wonderful, the owner was sweet, and the food was incredible! We started with an apéritif drink, the Kir Royal, along with a charcuterie spread. Best charcuterie in Indianapolis! Very fresh and diverse. He had the French onion soup, which was milder than I’ve ever had and wasn’t a sodium shock. We finished with the steak and frites for him(delectable mushroom cream sauce) and I had the boeuf bourguignon. We will definitely be back… ASAP!

I’ve only had dessert and drinks here, so this review is on sweets and setting, only. I usually don’t let the décor of a place get into my head this much, so I don’t know what it is about this location, but it jams me out. Every time I walk in, I feel like Steak and Shake and IKEA had a child, and I’m not a fan. The service has always been just OK. The crepes are OK… always a bit on the soggy side and overwhelmingly sweet. I would recommend heading to Three Days in Paris or up to Brugge if you want more of an «OMG I can’t handle this amazing food in my mouth» experience. This is definitely a good addition to Mass Ave, I mean, it’s different.

Came here with friends for Devour Downtown… we’d been lamenting on the lack of authentic French restaurants in Indy since Chanteclair closed. What a wonderful surprise was in store for us here! First, the place is set up to resemble a casual bistro and not nearly as stuffy as some of the predecessors. Secondly, the owner came out and personally greeted every single table… for me, that was a real selling point. He took time to tell us the story behind his operation, and that meant a lot. He’s vested in his work. Alas, now I will get to the food! My friends ordered off the Devour menu; one chose the boeuf bourguignon, the other scallops. I ordered a savory buckwheat crêpe with roasted duck meat. All of our entrees were delicious. My friend who chose the boeuf claimed it was the best he’d every tasted! Portions were reasonable and we were all very pleased with our meals… the only thing that might have enhanced this experience was the additional of crusty French bread and butter.(That’s just a suggestion on my part, as I’m a country gal and we like bread and butter with everything!) All in all, this little gem was delightful. I’m sure I’ll return again soon!

We came in very close to close and honestly if they turned us away I wouldn’t even have been mad about it. They were having a quiet night with the Super Bowl and probably weren’t expecting anyone in. However, we were greeted by Leah who was really nice and insisted that since we had come in knowing exactly what we wanted we were fine to eat. She was really diplomatic and reigned in her disapproval at our late arrival quite well in my opinion ;) I tried a drink that had cider and champagne mixed together. I’m not sure about the name because we ordered in a rush but it was very refreshing. My boyfriend had some beer with«Kahlua notes» that Leah recommended and he loved it. She was on point with recommendations. We followed with French onion soup. It was above average, a thicker stock with generous amounts of onion; not thin and watery like some French onion soups come out to be. My boyfriend had rack of lamb. It came with roasted squash and potatoes. He found it to be very well cooked, and well presented. He thought the flavours blended well together. I had scallops, they came with roasted squash and rice with a mushroom sauce. They were well cooked and came quickly. The rice was a little plain but blended well with the scallops and cream sauce. The squash kind of didn’t fit with the flavour but was still good. Finally the dessert. We tried chocolate mousse with strawberries and almond. we also tried cream brûlée. They were both whelming. We preferred the mousse, the strawberries and almond slivers really Brit it up a notch. The crème brûlée according to my boyfriend had«too much crème and not enough brûlée» I would agree; there was little caramelization. Overall the food was perhaps a bit underwhelming for the price, but the service was excellent and food was out fast. I think I would probably have given a less expensive meal five stars– I will definitely be back to try their crepes.

Myself and a group of friends tried this restaurant for the first time during Devour Downtown. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were great. My only complaint is regarding the Devour Menu. I ordered the main course with the braised beef. To my surprise it also came with pieces of pork. I personally do not eat pork and thought it was a potato. Only after eating a second pieceI realize it was pork. In the moment I was embarrassed for not knowing it was pork and also very uncomfortable eating something I am against eating. The menu did not disclose it had pork. **In the future I would hope all main ingredients are disclosed.**

Decided to check this place out because of Devour Downtown. Called the day of and got reservations-great! It’s a cute place however when we were seated we waited 15 minutes before we had to ask for help. Our server was great but we were annoyed that we had to ask to be helped. The waitress was very sweet and apologized for the mistake. The food was very good I tried both the beet salad and the onion soup. I enjoyed the soup better than the salad however both very good. The entrees came I ordered the braised beef– it was very good lots of food! The lamb was delicious probably enjoyed the flavor a little more however was not a lot of meat due to the fat — still very good! If you are very hungry and want your moneys worth go with the braised beef. The crème brûlée was fabulous would definitely go back for this. Would probably go again but wouldn’t run back this weekend.

This was our first time at the French restaurant! We had heard good things about it from friends and Unilocal reviews. The service was top notch-very accommodating to our schedule as we were heading to IRT right after dinner. The duck galette was very tasty-good size portion-not enough to share. The buckwheat flour galette was very moist and soft! The dessert crepes were just the right amount of sweetness. If you are into sharing, may need to order your own. Great authentic French restaurant in Indiana! We will definitely be back!

Best meal in Indy so far! But I love breakfast. Had the quiche du jour — salmon, chèvre, dill, and leeks(I believe). Served with some dressed greens and potatoes. Absolutely divine. They do not have a liquor license(so no Bloody Mary for me), but The Nelson was a yummy switch(champagne & port cocktail). Will definitely be back. Thanks for a great meal!

Leaves little to the imagination. I came in because I was craving crepes and I’ve heard good things. Perhaps it was my fault for getting an order to go, but I got the nutella and banana crêpe and was not very pleased. The crêpe seemed a little film-sy and the banana was just cut into two big chunks. I think if I would have actually had a legit dining experience here I would’ve liked it, so I’m willing to try again! I’ll be back soon!

Had a lovely time here on a Friday night. They took reservations and were very accommodating with our party of 9 including 2 kids. They actually have a kids menu(with chicken fingers) which we weren’t expecting! The service was great. The ambiance was fun, but not what I was expected. It was very casual and contemporary. The food was excellent, I had the smoked salmon crêpe. It was very decadent. I’m glad it came with salad. I would come back, but likely for lunch or to try their Sunday brunch.

My friends and I ate here at lunchtime for the first time yesterday. I have to say I was really excited for this place, but I was disappointed. Overall the food was okay. I had the lemon crème and raspberry coulis crêpe and I thought it was a bit too sour. I also tried the Chocolate crêpe that just tasted like it was doused in Hershey’s chocolate syrup. So I wasn’t too impressed with the food, but it was pretty good and I wouldn’t mind trying a different crêpe flavor another time. However, our waiter was terrible. He was very standoffish and acted like he really didn’t want to be there or take our order. The place wasn’t even busy(there were two other tables besides mine). He got two of our orders wrong(I ordered a triple crêpe and my friend a double). When we asked him about it, he said we never said anything about wanting a double or triple. He acted a bit put-out when we mentioned it and didn’t really offer to correct it. So overall I thought this place had okay food with not-so-good service. I think if you want delicious crepes and good service head over to Yolk.

Lovely staff, owner, décor, food and experience. Ran in late on a Sunday night for a quick bite and very much enjoyed the savory crêpe(they have another name for it, but I forget), and the side of super thick bacon. The sweet crêpe w/chocolate and raspberry disappeared in a flash – beautifully made. How wonderful to have this sweet place adding to the color and flavor of Mass Ave. Looking forward to going back for lunch sometime.

I finally got around to trying C ‘n B and was so happy to that it truly has an authentic French menu, décor, and atmosphere. We made sure to sit at the bar(I’ve been to cafes in Paris and really this is the best way to dine because you can meet some very interesting characters at and behind the bar); our server was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and we were able to have lovely conversation with her en francais. C ‘n B’s chefs are masters at the crepes and galettes featured on the menu. Expect crisp and light pastries filled with wonderful flavors inside(the salmon and leek galette was my favorite)! And if you save room for dessert, the chocolate ganache crêpe is perfect for finishing off your meal. We ended up getting a cheese plate as well, which included a Roquefort and a Chèvre imported directly from France! We will be back to try their new menu and will be bringing friends!

Soooooo cute. And really tasty. Loved the cheese board with crostini. Also got a hazelnut crêpe and it was simple percection. I was feeling the Parisian vibe and ordered sparkling pear wine as well — Delish! Went with a gluten free friend and her food looked awesome as well, although they don’t offer gluten free dessert foods, only savory ones. Felt bad for her, but personally I can’t wait to go back!

Crow-pee-shawn(Come on, Indy, don’t «play dumb» on this one) The boyfriend and I decided to get crafty with our date plans and planned a progressive dinner to experience three new-to-us businesses in one evening. Why not start with dessert? We were on a tight schedule so I can’t thank our waitress enough for playing along with our quick ordering tactics and fast-for-me eating. Holy cow, you guys, you must try the custardy dessert topped with caramel(I would add the name here but they don’t have a website/online menu?) — our waitress described it as crème brulee with a Werther’s Original-like caramel topping. I’m having dreams about this dessert — it was that good. Must return soon… We couldn’t leave without trying one of their signature crepes so we opted for the chocolate drizzle crêpe and added fresh berries. Cropichon goes for the light and airy French feel with a piano, chandeliers and light décor. I appreciate the generous amount of light that floods in to this restaurant. Next time we’ll have to give the savory crepes a whirl.

I thought having a place that served Nutella Crepes within walking distance from my house would be bad. then I tried the Crème vanille au caramel beurre sael and forgot all about Nutella. Oh my gosh is this stuff good. It’s a classic crème with a thick carmel sauce on top. Think crème brûlée with caramel instead of a burnt sugar shell on top. No matter what you think. no matter how full you are, do not even think about splitting this. The first person to take a bite will become possessed by the magical and deliciousness of this sweet treat and will do everything in their power to avoid having to share. I went with a friend and she was eating it slowly to «savor the taste» and I almost took it from her after I devoured mine. Take it from me. this is a great addition to Mass Ave and a place that I wish was located a little further away from me. Let’s see how long it takes them to know me by name…

The fun thing about Mass Ave is if it has been a week since your last visit a new place has probably opened up. Saturday I wanted something a bit different and this was the place. When I walked in the first thing that jumped out was the red leather. It goes very nice with the clean white walls. The décor isn’t over the top but welcoming. Music was softly playing helping to set the mood. The menu is simple. There is nothing worse than sitting down and having to read a 6 page menu. We started with the cheese plate. The presentation was very nice. The cheeses were different enough to stand out by familiar enough that we knew what we were getting. Six different cheeses come on the plate with various side items. We ordered a glass of Rose which paired nicely with the cheese. The main course — duck breast buckwheat crêpe. Over all the crêpe was pretty good. According to the menu I thought it was going to come with a ratatouille style veggies but it was carrots, onions, and celry. There were also potatos and 5 slices of duck breast. The duck was pretty good — I think the skin should have been crispy. The veggie mix used didn’t seem to fit the dish. The cider sauce was very good with the duck. My other half had the croque madame which looked amazing. We had to skip the sweet crepes but I am going back for one soon. Over all not a bad place.

I don’t jump into five star reviews, but my experience here was impeccable. Our server, Jess, was awesome, professional and a real breath of fresh air. If she’s around, ask for her section. The food was perfection from beginning to end. Jess’s suggestions were right on and we enjoyed everything she offered as well as our own picks. All of the staff were warm and inviting. The Charcuterie and Fromage were an easy choice. We thought about getting one, but who can do that?! Here’s a funny story: I hate cheese. I hate the shit, but there was only ONE cheese that was on the cheese plate that I didn’t inhale. The funky muenster was the best. Get them both. Don’t even think about picking one. GETTHEMBOTH. French Onion soup is perfection. Oh my gosh, the crunchy croutons in the soup were heavenly. Really great beefy flavor. Entrees were both amazing, but the Steak Frites stole the show. Sweet crepes were really yummy, but honestly, the chocolate tart is a home run. Go here now! I think we’re going back Saturday because my husband is so jealous that I went without him.

Cropichon et Bidibule is just the latest restaurant to hit the Indy scene that thankfully offers a true gluten free option that not only takes the ingredients, but the cooking ware into consideration. From the décor to the menu, this French restaurant tries to bring a little bit of Paris to the Midwest. The menu offers a nice selection of what one might expect to find when entering a street café. It is nice to see a naturally gluten free option on the menu in the form of the galettes, which is made of buckwheat flour. Through the use of a separate crêpe billig to cook the galette on, the food remains GF. While there are only more savory options listed under the Galett heading on the menu, they were able to make sweet options as well. If your looking for a sweet and savory dining option, the la palette complete and a Nutella galette are the way to go.

Say it with me, y’all: Crow-pee-shon(nasal n, rhymes with how the French stereotypically laugh like«hon hon hon») ay(fun fact for those of us who took Spanish in high school: you don’t pronounce the ‘t’ in «et») Bee-dee-bool. Okay, we’re good. Like practically everyone in Indianapolis, I was so excited to hear that we were finally getting a French restaurant, and on Mass Ave, no less! So, it was only natural that we have a French Connection outing here. The interior is really class with white walls and a nice bar area. As we were a group of ~30, we had two(very confused) servers helping us out. One of them was hella incompetent and made a ton of mistakes on our bills. My end of the table had to send ours back because items were added/omitted from our final checks. This is why I’m knocking off one star. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered a kir royal, which is champagne with raspberry syrup and often found in bars in France. Let me be clear: French syrups and American syrups are very different. This isn’t like Hershey’s or something. They’re more like Sage’s Simple Syrups if you’re a local familiar with them. Mine had a wee raspberry in it. Cute. For my dinner, I ordered the Gallette au magret du canard(duck filet crêpe) with ratatouille and greens, and it was absolutely phenomenal, the duck was tender, and it really did remind me of something from France. Of course, we all had to indulge in a nice dessert while there. I originally wanted their Café Gourmand, which is their dessert sampler with your choice of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, which was the only dessert they didn’t have that evening. I decided to go for the Tarte Bourdaloue, which is a pear tart, and of course it was great as well. I will most certainly be coming back, but probably not with a huge group like this last time. I’ll probably end up bumping this up to five stars after more visits.
