My husband I and I took our 2.5 year old daughter to this event. We were definitely excited leading up to it, because we are Lego fans! Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the single most disappointing events we’ve ever attended at the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds. We arrived on Saturday(the first day of the two day event) at right around noon. There were, what I considered to be fairly long lines, even at that point. We waited, and waited… And finally, when we were about three people back from the ticket taker, a man came out and made an announcement that they were ALREADY over building capacity for the day. He said that they would be «slowing the lines,» to make it less crowded. It seems, however, that they never bothered with that. It was so congested that you could barely move, let alone see the exhibits, or participate in most of the activities. There was just no room whatsoever. My husband got us a couple sodas, and we let our daughter play in the Duplo area for 30 minutes, hoping that the crowds just needed to thin out following the«slowing» of the lines. The crowds never did thin out, and we struggled along one side of one display before we ultimately decided it was too much. We had arrived shortly before noon and we left before 2 p.m. We paid 22 dollars, plus 5 dollars for parking. I’m sure the exhibits and models were awesome, but we didn’t get to see them. P. S. When I checked into this event on Facebook, I was given the option to leave a comment about my experience. I outlined the problems with overcrowding and not begging able to see most of the displays. I also commented on a few posts made by others. Some people shared my experiences, others asked about handicapped accessibility. The coordinator of the posted saying Brick World was completely accessible, boasting about their 12 foot walk ways. I commented saying that I felt that it might«technically» be accessible, but that a person in a wheelchair was going to have a super rough time getting through the crowds, let along being able to see the exhibits. At that point(even though two more people commented agreeing with me), I was BANNED from commenting on their page, and several of my comments were deleted. I feel the coordinators of this event have no interest in making things right, and this is shown through their attempt to silence people who might criticize them. Please do not forget that they are doing this to make loads of cash… And not because they really care about how much people enjoy the event… Or even the safety of those in attendance.
