Kid friendly Halloween events are right up my alley. Having worked with kids with special needs for the past couple of years, I’m always looking for safe yet fun events for the entire family to enjoy. When did The Children’s Museum ever disappoint? This Bash was a hit and a half. I don’t hesitate in saying that there were hundreds of kids pouring through the doors — of course their parents close behind. As I’ve been struggling myself with choosing a Halloween costume for myself this year, I was impressed with the creativity these kiddos were sporting. I saw some of the cutest Minions. And princesses. And superheroes. All were incredibly adorable and incredibly thrilled to be in a fun environment. What about the parents? 99% of them were dressed up as well! Way to get in the spirit. Someday — and I’m talking years from now — I will be more than willing to drag my own kiddos to this event. Or else I’ll borrow someone else’s kid. ;)

Okay, full disclaimer here: My review is based on a VIP night when the Black Hat Bash wasn’t open to the general public. I’ll try my best not to talk about the free food, drinks and entertainment. How lucky are we to have such an awesome Children’s Museum in our city? It’s been quite some time since I’ve been, and for the life of me, I can’t understand why. Even without the ever-changing exhibits, I could visit time and time again and not get bored. There’s so much to see here! Let’s talk about the Haunted House this year. It’s in 3D. That’s right. you get 3D glasses while you’re in line and put them on as you enter. While it’s a really cool concept, I had a bit of trouble trying to walk with the glasses on without stumbling into something. This year, each«department» of the haunted house is a decade. I read about this, but didn’t really pick up on it until I was two-thirds of the way through it in the ’90’s. I almost went through it again to see what I missed. I was a little disappointed that there weren’t a lot of adults who dressed up(well, aside from my awesome group of friends.) but was pleased to see the smaller kids decked out in their costumes. Make sure you visit the Children’s Museum this Halloween season. and bring the kids along!
