The Big Green Bistro, Chef JJ and his team did the food for my wedding rehearsal and reception. The food was spectacular and the friendliness of the staff was above what would be expected. The rehearsal was very simple, with various pizzas and build your own taco and burgers. Everyone raved and went back for 2nd and 3rds. The reception was buffet style and every bit as gourmet as you would assume from a brick and mortar 5 star restaurant. The mac and cheese was by far my personal favorite, Chef JJ even emailed me the recipe the next week! If you want incredible food, don’t hestitate to use this unique service!

Not just good for a food truck, but some of the best food in Indy! I had two pork on pork tacos and two white cheddar beef sliders. They were both amazing! The tacos had such big and delicious flavor. The beef sliders were cooked perfectly(still pink inside), the bun were grilled crispy, and the homemade pickles were awesome. The Big Green Bistro is a great chance to try Chef JJ’s great food without the cost of an entire meal… although, I’m looking forward to trying Chef JJ’s Backyard Grill too!

I think these guys and Duos are the best trucks in town by far… disclaimer…haven’t gorged from all of the trucks. BGEB was at Sun King for a tapping… just outstanding food… super nice and enthusiastic people. Just outstanding… even for a terrestrially anchored food store… no compromises in quality or product due to the truck.

I’ve tried the new Big Green Bistro twice now and was wowed both times. At the Dig In festival, they were serving up probably the best bison burger I’ve ever had. These little sliders had great flavor and sent me back a few times to use my extra food tickets. With burgers like these, we’re going to have to pay extra attention to the plight of the American buffalo. It’s this kind of food that brings about extinction! The Bistro made another appearance at a Unilocal event and had dishes for both carnivores and veg heads. The beef tacos were tasty but it was the vegitarian dish that was the star of the show. The polenta and mushroom dish was one of the tastiest and most interesting I’ve had in a while. If I’m ever on life support, put this in my feeding tube. Unfortunately, the Bistro only operates for private events. I don’t know what their rate is, but I just might have them park in front of my house for a few days.

The Big Green Bistro catered a Unilocal event last night and did NOT disappoint. I have heard lots of good things about the big green egg grills and I must say… it’s ALLTRUE! The truck looks like a bistro from the outside, and there is a great shade canopy that comes out. The people working in there clearly love their jobs. They were all so happy to be cooking and serving. Everyone was friendly. Also great of them to have both meaty and meat-free options. Onto the food. Round one — Korean tacos. Tons of veggies, nearly perfectly cooked tortillas(they started to wilt because the tacos were so juicy), and tasty beef. Next, polenta with cheese, onions, Indiana mushrooms, and chopped nuts. Isn’t it totally weird to have this combination, especially with the nuts on top? No, it’s darn near perfect. ALL of us, including the hard core carnivores like me, liked this even better than the Smoked Goose sausage/salami platter and the beef tacos. Must… have…again! My «light eater» friend even went back for a second bowl, which she quite gracefully snarfed down. Finally, the cake. I’m not a fan of cake, really not a fan of pineapple upside down cake, which is usually a sticky, cloying mess… but I ate EVERY bite of theirs. The cake was very light and moist. It reminded me of a tres leches cake. The pineapple on top must have been fresh, not canned, because it was sweet, but not TOO sweet. The sugar crystallized, giving the cake the slightest welcome crunch. The cake was covered in some kind of light sauce that made the whole thing hum. I’ve never had anything like it. I wish I would have brought my Tupperware and smuggled a dozen of them home.
