My step-son, his grandmother and myself went into a deserted restaurant at 2:30pm. Ordering was simple but when the price came to $ 41+ I was mystified. The owner spelled out that it was $ 7.99 for ONLY the gyro and $ 1.99 for the fries and drink. I laughed because I knew that he was correct. He asked if I still wanted it and I told him that I ordered and I would not back out — it just seemed extremely high(especially for lunch). He said he doesn’t care and I should come back at lunch time when he has a line out the door. I reminded him it was 2:30PM& that WAS lunch time. The gyro has WAY too much meat on it(no room for the sides) and the sauce tasted only like cucumbers. Fries were great but the«spicy gyro» was lacking ANY spice. I give 2 stars because I got what I paid for — a TON of meat. I bet if he were to lose some meat, he could lower the lunch price. It was a terrible atmosphere with a pushy owner that only changed his attitude when i told him to check his Unilocal later for the review.

Love this place! I’ve been looking for a good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant in the Northside and this is it! Not only is the food great, but Adel is the sweetest, happiest man as well. I walked in to a busy and packed hole in the wall place to grab food quickly. Luckily I wasn’t in a rush but was planning to grab and go. The owner was kind and constantly talked to the customers to keep us happy while we all waited for our food. When I finally got it, I left and my entire car smelled like the delicious gyro for the 10 minute drive. I could resist eating it once I got to my destination! I open the box to find a huge heaping of gyro meat on top of a wonderfully fluffy pita with a little salad and yogurt sauce on the side. I loved all of it. The food was too much for me, and I had to save half for later, but trust when I say, I ate all of it by the end of the evening. If you’re considering this place, stop thinking and just go. 100% worth it.

Best gyros in Indy. Little hole in the wall joint but true greek food. Love the owner and his family. They make quality food.

Went for lunch on a break from a meeting nearby. Had preselected Adel’s based on Unilocal rating and reviews. Décor is that of a well worn diner, but we were here for another reason, and it was all about the food! I ordered the standard Gyro upgraded with drink & fries while Reiko had a Greek Salad with added Gyro Meat. Everything was excellent, which, after reading some of the reviews, we expected. As a practical matter, and for mess minimization, I decided to eat some of the Gyro meat with a fork until I had reduced the amount so I could pick it up to eat… was still a bit messy, but when it tastes that good, just get messy and enjoy. Our order was taken and came up quickly, in take out containers so IF you have leftovers, you can just close and go. If you are in the area, say 20 – 30 miles, it is worth a stop.

The Gyro was delicious, specifically the gyro meat. Everything else was good. The service was really good and the owner was very friendly.

Thanks to the Unilocalers who recommended this great place! The spicy hummus was incredible, and the«small» portion could have easily served four. The gyros are delicious and HUGE — definitely over a pound of meat. Salads are fresh and the Greek dressing is excellent. Don’t know how this place could get any better. I’ll be back!

Well, first the good. The spicy gyro I had was huge and absolutely delicious, with ample meat and vegetables, along with a cucumber sauce that tasted decidedly more yogurt and less mayo than most restaurants. Also, the Sprite from the fountain was soda water, but they let me take a can from the fridge for free. Now the bad… This restaurant seems to be entirely understaffed. It took a half hour to get our food during the lunch hour as the one employee who was preparing orders was slow and disorganized. The french fries were forgettable as well, which isn’t really a big deal to me by might be to others. Overall, definitely a recommendation, just maybe try to pick a time when they are not busy!

First and foremost. The owner, he does everything from to\op to bottom himself. Hes a great guy. Very friendly and his personality is even more generous than his portions.(which are huge). Gyros are great, fries are good, and I loved the spicy hummus. I was given free dessert the first time I went in. And the second time I went in. I ordered baklava and he was just out. Which was fair considering it was almost closing time. In fact he locked up behind us, and everything was still fresh. Prices are fair, and honestly the only place I go fro Gyros now. TIP: Hummus and salads are BIG. Order the smalls.

Immediately when we walked in we were greeted like old friends, even though we’d never been before! The atmosphere is lacking, but the warm welcome made up for it and we decided to eat in. I got a regular gyro and my husband got the spicy. It was spicy but it was a good added flavor. The portion size is large, we both took home half of our orders. As we were enjoying our gyros, the owner brought out two large pieces of baklava for us! It was a lovely surprise! My uncle makes killer baklava… so I consider myself a bit of a «baklava snob»(like that’s a real thing), anyyyyway, it was different than his but it was delicious! We dug into our food so quickly i forgot to take a picture… we’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic gyro, moist and perfectly spiced falafel… Why haven’t I found this place before now? Management is also open and fun… Best gyro spot in the city and a true hidden gem.

Gyro was good overall, i believe there was 1+ lb of meat on the pita bread. This left small portion of lettuce and single half slice of tomato to compliment the meat, along with couple tablespoons of yogurt sauce to add as able. If youre carnivore, its great deal. As Gyros go overall i give it an 8. I also order hummus on the side. This was dissappointing. It may have been an off day… But there was far too much Tahini to call this Hummus. The the paprika on top had little to no flavor. I will go back… And order another Gyro when in the ‘hood of Carmel, but doubt I will go to great lengths.

Gyros, much like pork tenderloins, pretty much all taste the same to me. So I can’t tell you where adels falls on the gyro spectrum, but I have had a couple of them and I can tell you they make me happy. The owner(Adel?) is a great guy too. He’s friendly and he’ll get to know his regulars. Also, try the baklava. It’s sweet, and flaky, and gooey.

One of those places that you walk in and your heart is instantly warmed. As other reviews have said, the owner was there to greet me when I walked in for lunch, and he just might be the kindest man I’ve ever encountered. What a treat! After chatting with him, I’d want to support Adel’s anyway — but with food this good — I’ve definitely got no problem with doing so. I had the falafel — and the portion size was HUGE. Three decently sized falafel patties on a large pita with lettuce, tomato and onion. The portion was so significant that I was not able to pick it up to eat it. After whittling down one of my falafel patties, I enjoyed the rest of the sandiwch. I was left very full. I got my meal to go — and I was excited to discover when I got home that they had included LOTS of tzatziki sauce and also a side of hummus. Before I was about to leave, the owner told me to wait a moment and ran to the back, coming out with another to go container. He gave me a piece of baklava on the house. Are you for real? So nice and thoughtful. So, you may be thinking, it sounds like Clare loved this place, why only 4 stars? Well, my friends, I have to join the bandwagon with some others and say that the atmosphere is greatly lacking. I felt like I was in an old, Catholic school cafeteria — white, plain, and yes, somewhat dirty. If they spruced up the interior, I’d definitely want to dine in at Adel’s. Until then, I will definitely grab take out for dinner when in the area. Highly recommend for good Greek/Mediterranean food at a great price.

Excellent gyros! Adel’s doesn’t look like much from the outside. I have probably driven by there hundreds of times and can’t believe I never noticed it. I was very seriously impressed with the amazing taste of my gryo. I liked I could see it being made, hear the sizzle of the grill. We’ve been twice now and both times were great. The service is fast and friendly and you can take it to go or eat there. The fries were good and I thought both times I was given a large portion. If you haven’t been to Adel’s Gryos yet you need to make it a priority to get there.

I have no idea where Adel’s has been all my life! Apparently just down the street from us! I had no idea they were so close to where we live. We don’t often go down College Ave and have been really missing out. I am sad thinking about all the time we could have been eating yummy amazing hot gyros! I first discovered this hidden gem Unilocal’s Top Indy restaurants, but still took awhile to get there for some reason. Honestly I could easily see how people drive right by since it’s not much from the street. It’s next to Rosie’s Nursery and they do have their own parking lot with spaces in front. Even walking in you still wouldn’t think much, but it’s very clean and has a good amount of seating. We both opted for gyros and added fries and a drink. Our food was made fresh right in front of us. I am pretty sure that this was the best gyro I have ever had. I thought about it every day for weeks and finally made it back for a 2nd visit after the holidays and am still very much pleased with Adele’s and the amazing gyro. I look forward to many more visits!

This gyro connected with me on a spiritual level. I shifted dimensional planes as angels came down and stars aligned. The face of God peered through the blackness and all was well. Then I finished the gyro, entered back into the earthly realm, and continued on with my day, forever changed.

When you approach the door, you’re about 20 feet and $ 8 away from the best gyro you’ve had this year. Probably your life. I’m making sure to give them 5-stars to counteract my fellow Unilocalers’ comments that this place is a dump or a dive. It’s no frills but very well maintained. The crinkle fries were really good too. Cooked to crispier than average perfection, just like I like them! I’ll be back to try their falafel!

Adel’s Gyros is a place most might drive by when you see the outside. Or you may turn around and leave when you walk in. It may not be much to look at but it does serve good gyros and hummus. I had the spicy hummus with pita. The hummus is somewhat runny but has good flavor especially with the chili paste on top. Not really middle eastern but still tasty. The gyros are huge and easily make two meals. Spit roasted, not cooked on a flat top. The tatziki has large chunks of cucumber and is very good. Could use more garlic though. Give it a shot, maybe Adel will use the extra income to renovate the restaurant.

Whoa. I decided to come here because it was on the 2015 Unilocal Top 50 Indiana Restaurants list and I figured I’d put another notch in my belt for trying to eat at every restaurant on the list. The fact that it was closer to my new office helped out a bit, too. Adel’s Gyros is in one of those hybrid strip centers/medical buildings that are designed to look like houses with pillars out front and windows on the roof that don’t seem to lead anywhere. I knew once I pulled into the center that the place was going to be a dive, and I was right. You could almost call it a dump, but I feel really mean for saying that. Regardless, the tiles haven’t been replaced in eons, the walls are marred with nicks from the chairs, and Greek Orthodox iconography are awkwardly placed throughout. I just looked at the list, and this place is #17. Naturally, the second thing that ran through my head was, «Then, this food better be a life-changing experience for me.» Only one man was working; I went in after the lunch rush, maybe 1:30p or so. Two parties were sitting outside and another were inside. I had a difficult time trying to choose what I wanted to eat because everything sounded so good. Remind me the next time I go to try their spanakopita, dolamities, baklava– oh, screw it, I’m going to make it a point to try everything on their menu! I ultimately decided to go with the falafel and it was really amazing, served on a bed of pita bread, tomatos, onions, and cukes with hummus and tzatsiki on the side. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be eaten as a sandwich, but no matter how hard I try, I can never keep all of my fillings in my tacos, so I ate them all individually. The falafel itself was piping hot, so I managed to get through one of them before deciding to eat my veggies. In that time, they were still warm, but bearable to the touch. The falafel were crispy on the outside, but not super crunchy like some are, and the pita, hummus, and tzatsiki were clearly homemade. So the four stars is attributed to its shoddy décor and ambience, but honestly I think their food more than makes up for it. I most certainly will be going back and will more than likely try everything on their menu.
