I’ve had such a horrible time trying to find a good eye doctor since moving here from Cali. I had high hopes for this site; my pcp doctor recommended I go here, and the reviews were high on Unilocal. To be honest, this is the worse optical office I’ve ever been to. First of all, I have never been to an optometrist where the actual doctor doesn’t do the eye fitting. Here the optician is the one that does everything. The optometrist came in at the end of the exam, asked me some questions, wrote out my eye script out, and sent me on my way. When I mentioned how strange it was, the front desk clerk stated this how ALL eye doctors do it and they NEVER do the actually fitting. So I thought, okay, maybe that’s how they do it here in Indy. Second, the sales associate that was helping me select a new pair of frames was not very knowledgeable. I of course was looking for cute pairs of glasses. I wasn’t thinking about the technical stuff like, how I don’t have a bridge on my nose; how wide my face is; and how far my ears are on the side of my face. All of these should be considered before purchasing frames because the wrong pair will cause discomfort. I might be ranting a little bit, but as a consumer, I’m going to want the cutest pair and as sales associate, you should know what is going to fit me NOT«how can I get this lady to buy the most expensive pair of frames.» Two weeks later I went to pick up my glasses and as soon as I put them on I knew something was wrong with the lenses. Why you might ask? Because I threw up 20 minutes later from being so dizzy. I thought it was because I hadn’t eaten anything all day, so I decided I would start with fresh eyes the next morning. Same thing happened the next day. After the 4th day of wearing them I knew something was wrong with the glasses. When I returned to 20/20, a different sales associate did some measurements and found that the lens placement was off by 3 mm. I also explained to her that the frames were hurting my head and ears after only 15 minutes; I have to take them off and rub the sides of my head all the time. This sales associate said that plastic frames with no nose pads are not good frames for Asian features. She stated that other sales associate should have known about that. Unfortunately to get a new pair I’ll have to go through the process of getting the lens prescriptions fix and then come back in and request new frames because of the poor fit. That didn’t make sense to me, but who am I to question their SOPs. Two weeks later the glasses are back and the sale associate is yet another person. She has me put the glasses on; I immediately feel nauseated and the frames are really pinching my face and ears. She tries to adjust them even after I explain to her the frames are not a good fit and there is something wrong with the prescription. She tells me, «Well, you know it does take at least a week for you to get use to the new prescription…» Look, lady, I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 5, I think I know there’s an adjustment period. I definitely know that you’re not suppose to throw up from wearing your glasses. There was more conversation and more of her condesending comments. I told her I refuse to take the glasses because of the prescription and the bad frame fit. Now I have wait another 2 weeks for an appointment to see the optometrist. I hope this all works out. but, dear reader, if you’re looking for a new optometrist you should save your time and money; avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

Dr. Frascella is an ophthalmologist with 20⁄20 with several offices throughout the city. He is an excellent physician with expertise you demand and a wonderful personality that is missing in so many physicians today. I’ve been a patient for 10 years and trust Dr. Frascella to perform my yearly diabetic eye exam, eye injuries or any eye care necessary. If the Westside office isn’t convenient, call his office for the other locations he practices at. The office is full service so you can purchase your eye wear here as well.
