I tried this place after driving by it many times thinking it was a dive bar. It’s not by any means and I was quite happy with the experience. I had the prime rib which was a good quality cut unlike many others I’ve come across. I will be back to sample more of their simple but made with care menu and food. I was in the mood for beef today and remembered the great piece I had here last time so I decided to return. This time I opted for a wonderful piece of New York strip. The only thing better than a good quality cut of cow is a cook who respects what it is and treats it with loving care. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is the fact that they are not open for lunch. However that may change as I try more items from their menu as soon as I can. For now I recommend that anybody nearby try this place for a delicious meal

My girlfriend and I thought we would try a new place. We saw the reviews and thought it would be a nice Valentine’s Day dinner. The service was bad. I hope the server was new bc she took forever to get our salads and drinks. The bread was cold and stale. The vegetables were frozen and out of a bag. I ordered an 8 oz filet medium rare, which was good but it was cooked to a medium — med well side. My gf ordered the crab raviolis. It was a 20 dollar frozen imitation crab ravioli with a decent nothing special sauce. But the absolute worst part of the meal was the very start. We sat down and saw this little plate with 5 ritz crackers and a cheese ball. The cheese ball literally tasted like SQUIRTYCHEESEOUTOF A CAN!!! We both tasted it and immediately was like«that’s cheese out of a can». I will not be returning to the grapevine any time soon. Go to the Coventry inn, it’s the best.

Went here for a dinner party with a large group of friends. I’m glad they put us at a round table so we could all see each other. I’ve had the orange roughy here before and thought it was excellent. But this evening I was in the mood for lobster tails. Unfortunately since 5 other people at my table also wanted lobster they ran out. Fortunately they were just short one so I suggested they give me orange roughy in lieu of the second lobster. Everyone enjoyed their meal for the most part except for this fish being a tad overdone. Our Caesar salads were made in front of us and we’re delicious. The apple blossom dessert was so tasty. It was like a fresh apple pie but in a more modern shape. This is a very nice fine dining establishment with very friendly servers.

The décor of this restaurant is very nice and classy. It doesnt seem like it belongs in the small town of Indiana. I ordered the baked brie which was good and simple. Heated brie that they put fruit preserveson top of. It seemed overpriced for the simplicity of the appetizer. I ordered the spinach ravioli, but they said they ran out so I ordered the eggplant lasagna instead. The eggplant was a little chewy so could have cooked a bit longer. The sauce was seasoned well. My server was very good, but offered no discount for not having what I originally ordered though it was written on the board as the special of the day. I also thought for being a wine place, that they would have a larger variety of wines. People were also talking loudly in the kitchen area which was kind of distracting from the environment ofthe restaurant.

Synopsis– — Unseasoned, ill prepared food with no flavor at high prices. — Aspects of an upscale atmosphere, such as a piano player, and aspects of a low scale atmosphere, such as old, dated, and cheap metal chairs and tables. Details– For all restaurants that are of a similar caliber of food and prices, I rate the grapevine two stars. Of course it had better food and features than a local sandwich shop but we are talking about high end steaks and fish. I am a classically trained chef and the food was a disaster.
I ordered the Caesar salad prepared table side. The buss boy prepared it never speaking a word the entire 10 minutes of preparation. It was a nice classic idea and novel for Indiana, however the presentation was bad. The crusty old mustard jar and prepackaged minced garlic were not winning me over. After the copious serving of salad, my dinner was served, a grilled Delmonico steak. The Delmonico is my favorite cut, however this was not a Delmonico. It was three inches high and not marbled, nor did it have the tell tale outlines of the ribeye that is at the center of a Delmonico cut. It was cooked medium rare as I specified but there was no seasoning… no salt, pepper or spices! As a chef that is an epic fail. It was accompanied with risotto. When preparing, they did not treat it as a risotto rice, cooking it slowly adding broth to release starch and creating a lovely creamy rice. No it was cooked as normal parboiled rice would be in water and with NO seasoning or spices, just a dash of dried parsley on top. The bread on the table was not good and resembled low quality pre-baked supermarket bread. So this meal was a severe disappointment for me. My companion ordered the grilled swordfish and parsley potatoes. Neither had ANY seasoning or spices. No chef would ever cook a potato without salt. The swordfish is not a fatty fish and requires extra care to taste great. This fish was VERY dry and over cooked. You may be reading this and think I am stuck up and pretentious. I am not pretentious and I don’t look down upon any establishment for not meeting the standards of the fine cuisine I have had in Tuscany or what I cooked at a 4 star resort in Maui. I base this rating on the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant and staff relative to the area. This dinner cost 65 dollars before tip. That money could have delivered a fine array of superbly prepared food at Taze or Benjamin’s with a better atmosphere.

When we came in, we were promptly seated and given water. Then, we were given a port wine cheese ball and crackers. This was nice. I ordered a t-bone with corn as a side. I ordered it medium well, and it was a little more done than I liked it. That is ok, however. It was still tender and tasty. Just a little charred on the edges. The service was good, as our waitress was attentive and was always stopping by to refill our water or ask if we needed anything. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience and will be returning to try other menu items.

Well we decided to try this place tonight. We were impressed with the service. The appetizer that we ordered was coconut shrimp. It was okay, a bit over done but tasty. Our salads we very good with the house dressing. Then for our entrée we ordered the filet mignon and it was prepared nicely with a baked potato. Our over all experience was very good and I would recommend this place to anyone. Next time I go back I am going to try their pizza.

I was staying in Indiana for Groundhog Day and looked on Unilocal for a good dinner spot. The Grapevine fit the bill and my wife and I had a good but not quite memorable meal. The menu specials were impressive and gave us lots of options. The server was attentive & polite and the hostess even checked on us a few times. As far as the food is concerned, there was nothing that was bad. My wife opted for veal with cream and chive sauce. The veal was tender and the kitchen cut back on the amount of sauce as requested by my wife. The only downside was that the sauce really didn’t have a strong seasoning. That’s better than too much seasoning but the result was that the sauce really didn’t make her entrée stand out. The same thing could be said for my prime rib. It was cooked perfectly but the Au Jus didn’t really add much. Maybe some horseradish would have helped. Even the redskin potatoes were mildly seasoned. Good, but not memorable. Fortunately, we ordered the Sicilian mushrooms as an appetizer. They were listed as seasoned with aromatic herbs and really made a nice compliment to my entrée. The portion size was generous and I had plenty left to eat with my meal. At $ 6.50, this was a bargain and I would strongly recommend them. The ambiance was very nice and we were entertained by talented Bob Bretz on his guitar. All in all, we enjoyed the meal but would be hard-pressed to rave about either entrée. Take away the excellent service and ambiance and it would definitely be a 3-star experience.

This was a great find for us on this rainy night. We went there for dinner tonight, and came away quite delighted with the exprience. There was live music(a talented gentleman on the piano), and a romantic ambiance. We started with the coconut shrimp(very good). The salads were great, though they really should go easy on the dressing. My filet mignon was great, and the sauteed zucchini just outstanding. My husband’s swordfish steak was excellent. Attentive service. We’ll definitely be back!

I believe this is a 5 star for Indiana. Nothing happened on my last visit that I would deduct stars from a review. I have been twice before and have thoroughly enjoyed both evenings. This most recent visit I ordered the bruschetta and the BBQ pork chops. Both were excellent. Our waitress was very personable, made great recommendations, and genuinely made us laugh. All this put together makes for a great evening. She was like a true host, and made us feel like we were genuinely guests in her home. I cannot wait to go back!

The food and service here was great! I got the orange roughey and it was to die for. The second time I went, my mom and I got the homemade ceasar salad, which our waitress made in front of us. It was delicious! This is a really nice place to take a family or got on a date. Good food.
