The only sushi place in Indiana, you can’t expect much. It’s cool that you can see the chef cooking in front of you but I didn’t like that he used frozen ingredients. Also the chef is Korean so you won’t get authentic sushi here.

One of the best Sushi I have ever eaten. The price is reasonable comparing to Sushi’s restaurants. The service is good, and the place is small and homey.

Consistently mediocre. Tried several times over the course of a couple years, Sinobe has sadly made its way to my blacklist. Rice is consistently stale tasting or overdone. Portions are minuscule. Run by college kids with very little experience or commitment to the craft of sushi. Eating-in at Sinobe is a bizarre experience, 90% of the seating is comprised of bar seating, making it very challenging to carry on conversations. The seats themselves are awkward and uncomfortable. The décor is oddly more french Polynesian than anything. I once ordered a shrimp tempura roll to-go, after I arrived home I found the roll battered but not fried. Unforgivable. Sadly, I cannot recommend Sinobe. Ironically, the best sushi I have found in Indiana, PA is at the Giant Eagle Express.

I just got sushi here today and was sorely disappointed. Before, it used to be quite good but with the change of chef, it fell completely through the cracks. Not only was the salmon in the Philadelphia roll past its prime, the rice around it was hard, under cooked, and falling apart to the point where it was impossible to pick it up. I can’t speak for the rest of the food which I’m going to assume is still pretty good especially for such a small joint but I can’t suggest the sushi.

this is the best sushi in Indiana, not the best i have ever had, but i would imagine it’s hard to get great quality in Indiana. I don’t like where it’s at, the lack of air in the restaurant leads to sometimes be incredibly smoky, but the food is worth it. it’s definitely well priced for the quality… my only real complaint is that they need to hire better wait staff! it’s a very small restaurant, which means when it’s crowded, it’s not all that crowded and with 2 – 4 waitresses present at one time it is a bit ridiculous how many times an order of mine has been messed up! but i put up with space cadets when i want good sushi in Indiana, and you probably would too…

My family and I have always enjoyed our meals at Sinobi. We have only had sushi once or twice and that was the spicy tuna roll. It is VERY spicy but quite tasty. We usually order a teriyaki dish(beef, chicken or vegetable) all of which have been good. We bring our 8 year old with us, but she isn’t very brave about trying new foods, so her meal is usually limited to miso soup and a bowl of white rice(and some of the chicken off of my teriyaki meal). If you bring your kids, it’s all going to depend on how picky they are as to whether or not they would find something on the menu they enjoy. There is no special kids menu. When Sinobi first opened, we were very excited to hear that it would have some Korean foods on the menu. They originally had«bulgogi» on the menu but it has since disappeared. We kept hoping there would be some kimchi showing up down the line, but with the bulgogi disappearing, we’re not holding our breath anymore. :-(Maybe a kimchi roll on the sushi menu? The waitstaff is friendly and service has always been good. The décor has been well done, much better than what you might expect in a mall. They do close for a few hours between lunch and dinner. Because seating is limited, it does tend to fill up quickly and we sometimes have had to wait., but it has been well worth it.

After my initial review I was messaed by the manager of Sinboi. She was shocked that I had come across fish that was of such poor qualiy and told me they had taken what I said into consideration. I returned on a Wednesday night a few weeks later to see if things had in fact changed. I ordered takeout — admittedly not the best way to sample the food; but this is what I did for my previous review and I don’t particulary care for the setting in the mall(rumor has it they will eventually open a second location: looking forward to this) I had 6 pieces of nigiri, 2 yellow tail, 2 tuna, and 2 salmon. I also tried the squid salad. The fish quality was beyond fair; still not on the level of Umi or Chaya but on par a lot of the places around Pitt. The maguro had a bit too much wasabi for my taste, masking the flavor of the fish. but this is a minor qualm. The squid salad was fantastic, I highly recommend it. The glutinous rice was MARKEDLY improved, as was the presentation of the nigiri size themselves. I’m so glad the they’ve made these improvements and sinobi has now returned to it’s place as my favorite restaurant in Indiana My only suggestion is that they have a nigiri entrée available, as many sushi spots do with more of an assortment or chefs selection as opposed to strictly a la carte. *they may be able to accomodate if asked. The 3 is on a tiered system because of the location, if they were in Pittsburgh they would still be a 2.
