This store is an embarrassment. Today when I visited I was stopped because a purchase a made elsewhere had set off their anti-theft gate on my way into the store. I had to wait in a four person deep line to have someone at the service desk scan my bad to deactivate the tag. I found it odd that something I bought in a different store set of their security, but I accepted the fact that they just wanted to be certain I wasn’t up to anything. The actual sales floor of the store always seems completely empty of store staff, save for a few pimply-faced high school kids who avoid eye contact and practically run away from customers. After I gather my things(just a box of Q-Tips and a Pepsi) I went to the front to find only three out of fifteen to twenty registers were open. Each had lines five or six people deep moving at a pace that would make a snail point and laugh. In hopes of making my own purchases go faster, I had already figured out roughly what my items would total and had cash in hand when it was my turn. The cashier immediately started with«Will you to putting this on your Sears card?» I looked at the bills in my hand and said«Umm, no.» Wasn’t it really obviously I wasn’t going to charge this? She replied with«would you like to apply for a Sears card?» «No» I muttered, wondering why I didn’t know better than to come in this place. She then asked«do you have a Kmart rewards card?» I could understand pressing the rewards card angle if I was buying a $ 1,000 flat screen television. I wasn’t buying a television. I was buying Q-Tips and a Pepsi when totaled less than six bucks. What kind of reward would that really earn me? Again, wanting to just get out of this stinking pit, I said«No, not interested» thinking this would get out of the application question. At this point my quick trip to the store was already taking me twenty minutes longer than it reasonably should. I suggest anyone who wants a close to stress free buying experience to avoid this place at all costs. It’s obvious the people who run the store don’t care about efficiency or a pleasant environment for their customer.
