Rode from Indian Head to White Plains yesterday while in town for work. I’m a birder, so was thrilled to see & hear 7 warbler species and saw nine red-headed woodpeckers. The wildlife viewing and natural beauty along the Indian Head Rail Trail are incredible. AND. just finished dinner at George’s Ribs, which is a few blocks from the trail. AWESOME! Bringing friends back for sure.

Love this new rail/trail. Hope you don’t find out about it, so it doesn’t get overcrowded! Hahahaha! It is flat, beautiful and follows the Mattawoman Creek where you can kayak as well. Trail is about 13 miles one way. You will have to cross over some streets, but not too busy. There are a lot of hunting shacks along the trail with many signs saying beware of hunting! It is a far drive for certain parts of the DC Metro area.
