Out in the middle of nowhere, but who cares. I loved the drive out to the farms! Very cool place this is. You can take a stroll through the fields and see where all the amazing ingredients come from that make all of the Rogue beers and spirits. There are chickens, roosters, and other farm animals just grazing the property. There are fun yard games to play and a little shack to buy beer in. There is a food cart that they cook food out of as well. It was absolutely delicious. You can walk right down to the Willamette river with the dogs because it is dog friendly. Or, if you live in the area, and brave the dirty waters of the Willamette, you can actually float to the farms and stop in for a pint. Also, you can stay the night there as well. Its called Hop n bed… you get a room and i think endless beer but it puts a dent in the old wallet if you choose to go that route. Awesome place. Cant wait to visit again in the summer.

The food is great, the ambiance is perfect, and you get to try some beers that aren’t released to the general public. This is the perfect pseudo-picnic experience. My wife and I go whenever we can.

Great beer! Beautiful grounds… Danimal was super rude! Almost left, but was able to get over it. Would go on a different weekend when there is no event going on. Too crowded and limited food choices.

I like Rogue Beer and I’ve eaten at different Rogue eateries, this is a nice place to hang out but the prices of the food were unbelievable high for what little food you got. All items were $ 10 or $ 11 which doesn’t seem bad but when you only get one hot dog and a side of chips $ 10, it’s expensive. I could have had a better meal at a hot dog stand for $ 3 in down town Portland. Great beer but sneak in your own food!

Really like this place, usually fairly quiet and nice people. This time we road our bikes out to get some dinner and a beer or two. They just started advertising their summer hours, close at 9. But, when we get there at 7 the beertender tells us we can’t open a tab and they close in a half hour. Not a problem at all, but it becomes very obvious that the workers just want to go home instead of staying open. The guy ordering behind us complains and they grudgingly let him order food. Just a bad experience for a normally great place.

I wonder if all of the five star ratings are employees of rogue ales? This a great idea that is executed about as poorly as could possibly be done. After walking in to one of the two unlabeled doors into the trailer house my children were yelled at that they could not be in that area and they had to leave. The entry was not labeled with the proper OLCC info or I would have been happy to comply. We went outside to see The«farm animals» that we’re apparently no longer there. This is a great location with an great concept, but I will never give a penny to any organization that is rude to my children, and I hope others feel the same.

Stopped in at the Hop Yard during a bike ride from Corvallis. It had been awhile since I had been here but the food has really gone downhill. No more pulled pork on the menu and no food truck– just expensive burgers & salads inside. I ordered the tri tip over curly fries for $ 13. I got about 2 oz of steak pieces over a bed of fries with a generous glop of jalapeño sauce which sort of resembled thousand island dressing. There were a few pieces of tomato & onion but when I asked the server where the missing avocado was the reply I got was that they had run out of avocado. Funny that since I was the first customer of the day. It sounds to me LIKESOMEONEFORGOTTOGOSHOPPING! No offer to trim a few bucks off the price of this mediocre meal. My opinion is that it is an OK place for a micro brew but not for food.

We took the trek since we are big fans of Rogue. If you are really into taking a drive to see the hops and everything else grow, then take the drive. If you want their beer, then go to one of the other Rogue breweries. The beers(all of which I’ve seen elsewhere) were $ 5.75/pint. Limited menu for vegetarians. Hubby got a burger with fries that seemed pretty meager for $ 11. But we come for the beer and the atmosphere except for when my hubby eyed a cycling shirt; I sneaked back in to check out the price…$ 80! Love you honey, but that is plain ridiculous. I consider wearing some establishment’s logo as walking advertising, and they should be paying me to wear it. We inquired about their distilled liquor, what was good for sipping and only the whiskey was recommended. The bottles ranged from $ 30-$ 45(not listed anywhere, I had to ask). Tastes were $ 1, only a few were available for tasting. They don’t have a full bar, so I guess you would buy their soda to mix since they are not good for drinking straight. My overall feeling is that since they got you out there, they can charge whatever and you will pay it.

Hard to imagine a nicer place to spend a lazy fall afternoon if you like good beer and a relaxed environment. Stopped off for lunch and a beer while on a bike ride and had a great time. Bike friendly establishment with a ton of great outdoor seating and great views. You can sit and enjoy a beer, play lawn games, or walk down to the river. The Chipotle Ale is a must try!

To have this place so close to our home in Independence is nothing short of miraculous! We drove out here in March originally not having any expectations, and I’m glad I waited to write my review until after we had visited in the summer. In the off-season they have only a few options for food, like a cheese and meat plate with some bread… but really, one only visits a Rogue for the beer! And the beer never disappoints! Revisited in August when the food truck provides some finger-licking good eats! We ordered the super awesome supreme fries and burgers. Everything was amazing! And, yet again, the beer never disappoints! Next time, I will have to stay sober enough to participate in some of the giant lawn games they house.

What a beautiful place to visit on a Pacific Northwest Brewery Tour. We were lucky enough to be invited to the farm on a Monday morning for lunch, a private tour, and drink samples before heading down to Newport to tour the brewery. Fields of hop vines and hazelnut trees greeted as we drove toward the farm. We were in heaven. When we walked up to the property there was a trailer in the middle that offered merch for purchase and beers to sample. Outside was an open grassy area surrounded by picnic tables, a few cornhole sets, and portable bathrooms. A small trailer outside served food. We walked around the property, saw the small hotel, and where the hops would be harvested at the end of the summer. The property is beautiful, full of life, and character. We stuck around for lunch, walked through the vines, and really enjoyed our time at the farm. We were grateful to have been invited. Its a little out of the way but it is definitively worth the trip for Oregonians and outsiders who just love beer.

I used to live a hop, skip and a jump away from this place. It was a great place to stop for a beer and a snack when we lived so far out of town. We loved taking our dogs and riding our bikes over to hang out on the back patio and play lawn games. We had a terrible fire that destroyed our home a couple years ago and the team at Rogue donated a keg of our choice to us. It was something that we will always remember about that tragic time. Be sure to catch one of the tours of the farm. Lots of great history and info on the brewery.

Rats… I thought I would be the first one to review this amazing little place. My daughter and her family are relocating to Maryland this month. Her husband’s new boss had one request. A case of Rogue Ale. Just that says something. Unlike our other favorite, Sierra Nevada, which buys hops from all over the world, Rogue grows, harvests and processes its hops just feet away in several varieties. I don’t even pretend to understand how that all works, but that doesn’t keep us from appreciating what we have here in Oregon. It isn’t a fancy tasting room like we find sometimes in wine country. Remember. It’s beer. No frills. The way we like it.

What a cool place. Fields of hops. A selection of rogue beers on tap and for sale that you can’t get most places, and a pretty decent tomato bisque to top it all off. I got to say it’s a pretty idyllic scene. While it’s 30 minutes off highway 5 it’s well worth the stop. If only I’d had a second driver, I could have had more than one beer. Oh well.

Come down, go in and ask for a taster tray. It’s like 6 bucks and ya get 4 decent sized tasters. Great way to help you try their unique brews and decide which one to have a pint of. Then head out to the grassy outdoor area and enjoy the sun and the view.

Pretty awesome side location for Rogue Brewery. Its on a hop farm/hazelnut orchard outside of Independence, I for sure wouldnt have found it if not for Siri. Glad we came out here. Went late Monday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. They are very dog friendly so that was nice to be able to get the dogs out to run around a bit. They have a very limited menu, we ended up getting the Kobe beef sliders and snack mix along with our beers. All the regular Rogue beers are there in bottles as well as some one off beers on tap that you wont find everywhere. Out on the lawn they have games(beanbag toss/bunghole/giant jenga) act. They also have chickens and pigs running around the farm and you can walk down to the Willamette river, they have a nice beach on the river on property. This is my new favorite Rogue location, I’ll be back again for sure.

I was a little surprised to find this place to be located in what seemed like a mobile home. I was envisioning a quaint little pub in a B&B. But no, the Independence Rogue is spartan and dedicated to good drink. All the Rogue whiskys available for sample(I think one was something like $ 9 for a shot). Good beer selection on tap, of course. Very friendly staff, despite me surprising them by dropping in a few minutes before closing on a weeknight(damn!). Given what Independence is, and might be becoming, I think its pretty fitting & cool to have this little brewpub in a portable building. Its nice having something good that’s still grass roots. Someday this area is going to be overrun with overpriced Wine country retreats. Enjoy Rogue before its too late.

What a beautiful place… in the middle of farms and lots of green pastures. We were very surprised that this place is out there and you can have a beer and enjoy the peace of the valley. Nice change of pace, friendly service. You can take your dog there, they have bands performing on certain days and food. Limited menu, but enough to have something to munch on while sitting outside enjoying a sunny day.

Beervana starts here. The valley around Salem is an agritourists’ paradise — chockablock with wineries, cheese factories, and pick-your-own orchards — but this place tops them all. This is the hops farm for the Rogue Brewing Company(yes, that Rogue Brewing Company.) Finding this place is one heck of a challenge(several turns on country roads, the last of which was marked«dead end») but this treasure is well worth the hunt. You know you’re getting close when you start driving by hops vines(tall hemp-looking plants growing up ten-foot trellises). After about a mile of the these fields, the Rogue farmstead emerges from the hops. Farmstead is, I think, the right word — if it weren’t for the single Rogue sign, I might have mistaken it for a well appointed family farm. In addition to the farmhouse, and a very large barn, the property also features a small green building(the tasting room) and a nicely-appointed lawn.(More on the lawn later.) Beer tastings($ 3) consist of two different brews. If tasting isn’t your style, you can skip that step all together and buy yourself a bottle(or two) of Rogue’s specials. This isn’t a full-blown public house(a la Newport or Portland Rogue), but they do offer several beer varieties and a few vittles. Unfortunately, they don’t serve the root beer we’ve come to love at other Rogue locations. The beer was great(of course) and the conversation was friendly. The best thing about this place, though, was the lawn. Rogue is stocked with a trove of lawn toys(think croquet, bocci balls, frisbees, and more) for loan. We took full advantage and, beer in one hand, bocci ball in the other, had a blast. This is easily my favorite attraction in the mid-valley. I actually hesitated to put it on Unilocal — since I love Rogue’s secret location, and I’d hate to see it get too crowded. Still, I’ve learned a lot of good stuff from Unilocal. And as one good turn deserves another, I’m putting this on for y’all. You can thank me later with a pint.
