I recently moved to Missouri and had to find a new dentist. My Dentist was on the top of the list for my insurance carrier, so I called and made an appointment with Dr. Emily Handley. Keep in mind I only called to schedule a routine exam and cleaning. Before I went in for my appointment I had no discomfort or pain within my mouth. After my exam Dr. Handley told me I needed to have 3 cavities«re filled» and a buildup that would lead to a crown. I trusted what she said because she is a doctor, so I scheduled the appointments to get the work done(although I wasn’t experiencing any pain what-so-ever in my mouth). I had to schedule 2 appointments, all of which I had to take off work, 1 was for the 1st half of my mouth and the 2nd was to put the crown in and to fill the last cavity. The 1st appointment was the worst dental experience I had ever had. They sat me in the chair and left me there for a while before the Dr. came to see/greet me; then numbed me and left me sit for a while longer.(No TV, magazines, anything) Finally, once she and the assistant returned, I sat under the work of their hands for 2HOURS. All the while the 2 women were chatting about home life and planning a birthday party and pregnancy, etc… The assistant left the suction hanging out of my mouth for time on end, and the Dr. took short breaks every 5 minutes. So in all, I sat in that chair for a VERY unnecessary 3HOURS; only to «re-fill» 2 cavities and build-up a tooth. I had 3 weeks until my next appointment– and the ENTIRE3 weeks I was unable to eat on my right side. The appointment finally came and they«re-filled» the last cavity and put the crown on the tooth that they had built up.(Only took about an hour and a half this time) After about a week went by I was experiencing a lot of pain in that last tooth they had to «re-fill» a cavity. I was taking up to 12 Ibuprofen a day, and could not eat on that side. I called and made an appointment to have it looked at, after 7 days in pain. During the exam the Dr. told me — THEYMADE A MISTAKE. That they should have crowned that one too. So, because of their mistake(s) I am left with a poorly doctored tooth, in pain, & a $ 1,200 bill after what insurance paid for. They told me that I’d have to pay an additional $ 700 out of pocket for them to fix their mistake. I will never return to this dentist office, and I will never recommend this Dr. to anyone. I should file a suit against them! (on a brighter note, the Dental Assistant Brianna was awesome. She was the only positive review I have for this office)
