While in Imlay City, you have options, limited options but options just the same. When it comes to family style dining you have 2; Big Boy and John’s and you already know what’s at Big Boy. Making the case for John’s is simple, if you like Coney Island /Greek type food, come here. If you want to spend less for breakfast, come here. If you want home made specials for dinner, come here. See, pretty simple. I had a Gyro and it was stuffed full and slathered in sauce with plenty of onion and tomato. No portion control issues here folks. They’re definitely not in the back like Quiznos weighing your meal on a scale. Did I mention I had a great cup of coffee?

First I’ll start by saying, the waitresses serving were very nice and acknowledged everyone who walked in the door. The food was very low quality, cold and old. Even the saltines were stale. The floors were filthy. While eating we were offered more coffee but after seeing that the coffee pot was also dirty, we declined. Though we did come in on Sunday around 5 and they may have had a Sunday rush earlier, the cleanliness was not acceptable. Socializing seemed more important then cleaning.

This was one of the worst experiences ive ever had. The server claimed to have cleaned the table but it was obviously dirty but we gave it a second chance. Then one of us ordered a large milk and a glass of ice but was brought a glass of ice water and a small milk but we let that slide. Then came our meals. We all ordered breakfast for dinner and all 3 of us had white toast and they brought out one order of wheat toast and I let that slide and took the wheat toast. Then I get my 2 eggs over easy and one of the yolks was fully cooked and the other was ¾ cooked. So my dippable eggs were anything but. The kicker though was when I was ready to eat I had NOSILVERWARE! The coca-cola was good though. So in a nut shell this place is only good for their pop and thats even a stretch. Do not and I repeat, DONOTEATHERE! Ps: we were the only customers, so there are no excuses. Also the only reason I gave 1 star is because I was forced to.

Good food, fairly clean restaurant, good prices. Not very«country», like the name suggests — it is more of a typical«coney island» type of affordable family restaurant, but we were full and satisfied when we left. I wish they would have cleared some dirty dishes from the table and I wish they would have asked if we wanted refills, instead of us having to ask for them. The waitress was friendly, but extremely quiet and not very attentive… never did get her name. We would return if we were in the area, but it was not a 5-star experience.

My family of 6 stopped by this restaurant while traveling. We found it «by accident» when we stopped to get gasoline along while traveling Interstate 69. It was about 9AM on a Monday morning. Not a lot of people in the place at that time, but we had a great breakfast for a reasonable price, served by a friendly and helpful waitress. I left very satisfied and without going broke. We had been driving since 4AM, so this was just the pick-me-up I needed. Other guests arrived during our time there, so I hope that business is good and I wish them a lot of success.
