CJ Fast Fresh Food

The food is incredible, fast, fresh, and reasonably priced. The portions are pretty decent for a «fast food» type of vibe. It’s a very small place, but there are tables inside and outside, and if you sit outside you can hear the live music from the pricier restaurant across the street. This spot is a great choice for a yummy, quick meal.
I had the turkey club sandwich and fries and it was delicious. I can’t wait to try a burrito the next time I’m up here!

Small but cozy and very friendly staff. Lots of locals come here. I had the Mexican burger that come with chorizo, avocado and jalapeño pepper. No the giant burger from other places but excellent flavor. The place is also very clean.

Brush up on your spanish because the order taker does not speak English. Food came out at the speed of a sit-​down restaurant. «Turkey» club was actually ham and did not come with mayo as advertised on menu. Wife got pulled pork: delicious and tender. I wouldn’t say I will never come back, but I will definitely try every other place in Idyllwild first.

Went to CJ’s for breakfast and it was… OK. Service was nice but a little slow.
The breakfast burrito wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything different than something you could get at McDonalds or another fast food place. I need to get back here for lunch to give it another try.

It’s «fast food». It is what it is. Although not real fast it was quite tasty. Good bacon burger and great sopas (my wife got hers veggie style). All was good, clean and will for sure go again when in the mood for fast food (not too fast).

I went to Cj’s on a Wednesday for lunch and to buy lunch for my staff. We waited for an hour for sandwich, potato tacos, 4 milk shakes, a burger and 2 orders of the fresh fruit. The burger order was lost, 3 shakes were wrong, I asked for a salad with my sandwich and instead I had soggy cold fries and the meat on the sandwich was Bologna Turkey and was disgusting. I called the owners and left a message and my call was never returned. I will never go to either of the restaurants. I spent over $ 60 and it was terrible and barely edible. Such a disappointment.

Also new recent owners of Arriba’s sit down restaurant next door. This place is the best in town, I crave for the California Burrito with the Chipotle Ranch that is house made… Ohh yeah… everything is decently priced, and it is a local favorite. The owners are super nice and quick. IF you are craving some burritos or tortas come here!!! The fish burrito is also excellent with the chipotle ranch, the fish tacos are great, and the ceviche with shrimp on Friday is awesome! They have daily specials, which I usually get., like the burgers. The Chorizo burger is outstanding! For the price and flavor, it beats the lumbermills chorizo burger across the street. However, I would stick with the basics on the first go… burritos (California or chili relleno burrito, which is my wife’s favorite), the fish tacos, and the ceviche. However, if you don’t see what you want on the menu, ask! If they have it, they will make it for you! Awesome. My wife asked for chilequiles one morning, and they made it! It’s her favorite Mexican breakfast, and CJ’s made it! It was delicious. Their shredded chicken is so flavorful, and their guajillo pork is also excellent. If you get a torta, I would recommend one of those meats. They also have some good desserts Mexican style, or gringo style, just ask. The mangonadas are excellent, but they also have shakes!

Have to say, this place is a gem. The huevos rancheros are the best I’ve ever had. Kids grabbed some simple eggs and sausage with the best hashbrowns (they said)…
On the hill, every restaurant seems to be trying to be something other than just a restaurant with good food — CJ’s doesn’t mess around. Just good solid food.
Seating is limited but they do have some extra outside seating.
Quaint Mexican American menu that is kid friendly. From the portobello mushroom burger to the chile guajillo burrito, there is something for everyone.

CJ’s is a cute little place. The food is fast and good and cheap! They have delicious flavors. Especially the tacos and burritos! CAN YOU SAY YUM!

Awesome service good food huevos ranchero must try, chicken torta yum chicken is juicy and sopes special were delicious 2 for $ 5! Defenietly coming back!

Great food, great specials and their fries are amazing! I love this little treasure. The owners are so sweet and kind, and their staff is always so nice. And the prices are so affordable.

This is my «go to place» in Idyllwild, great service, great food, best prices on town, and the owners are wonderful!!! Much better food than the Lumber Mill and other Mexican places… better prices too! Idyllwilds little gem

Great food and exceptional customer service! Perfect place to grab a quick lunch. The grilled chicken tacos are awesome, just like the authentic street tacos you would find in LA. My favorite is the fresh shrimp ceviche made every Friday. We are lucky to have such a quality, fast food place on the hill.

The staff is gracious and kind. The machaca breakfast burrito is the best in Southern California. This is a don’t miss for anyone who wants to fuel up before heading for the high country. In addition, all menu items are fresh and made from scratch. This place truly is a little gem in the pines.

Sorry to give a 3 star review but we didn’t have a very good experience. The Chile rellano burrito that was so highly recommended was soggy and gross. The pepper itself was tasty but there was too much sauce and too must tortilla. We were asked if we wanted a «wet» burrito and we said no. We got a soaked burrito that was a soggy wet mess. The potato taco was good but I am not sure if I would return. The salsa was also tasty.

If you like small joints or cafes you’ll be pleases at this family owned eatery.
Authentic «Street» Tacos made to order just like in Mexico. I had one Chicken and one pork with Cilantro and Onion. The tortillas were warm and supple and had a real corn taste. Location is great too. Free Wifi. Interestingly enough it’s situated to two other tasty Mexican restaurants: Arrriba’s and The Lumber Mill. All have great food! Idyllwild is fortunate to have a great selection of dining choices.

Homemade Mexican Food, great owners, we will be back.

Great Salmon Tacos! Awesome potato tacos! The owner and workers are so nice and friendly! The ingredients are fresh!

Having recently moved to Pine Cove (Idyllwild) with my partner and having just a mini-​fridge at the moment, we often have to eat away from the house. I don’t know why we waited so long to drop in to CJ’s. Wow! We were so very happy with our first visit that we came back the very next day. We were greeted warmly by every member of staff there. We both ordered hot sandwiches, which tasted exceptional. Having the side salad with homemade (Oh the Bleu Cheeses dressing!) salads is a nice touch and a great value. The owners are so nice. They make you feel like friends. The prices can not be beat either, as we eat at most of the usual places in town, especially for lunch. My only comment would be the ‘Fast Food’ in their name, as the food is TOO GOOD to be called such!

For fast food that’s high-​quality, I definitely recommend this place. They have a great fruit salad which can either be made with sweet cream or plain yogurt or with nothing. It has pecans and coconut on the top. Very good. Also the prices are reasonable and the vegetarian portobello mushroom burger looks excellent. My uncle recommends the taco salad, the tortas, and he says the potato tacos are an excellent vegetarian option!
