We stopped by this morning before they opened. Jason was kind enough to invite us in and gave us a tour of the building along with the history of Hye. What a great time we had hearing all the history of the town. The vision and work going into making Hye a destination. Kudos to you Jason and your team. Are you looking for a genuine little piece of Texas to share with your out-of-town guests while wine tasting in the Hill Country? This is it! I recently took a group of 15 professors from out-of-state to lunch at this adorable little market. We enjoyed an assortment of lunches/sandwiches and cookies in the ambiance of a 100+ year-old(but still used) post office. The proprietor and his staff did every thing they could to make the experience special. The prices are great and the atmosphere is delightful. There is also a large assortment of beers and wines to choose from. On this particular Saturday afternoon there was live music. Great experience!

This is a really nice stop in the midst of your wine tasting trip. We went to Kulhman Cellars for their food and wine pairing tasting(call ahead for reservations) and then backtracked about 3 minutes to this market for sandwiches. Really happy with the turkey sandwich — the herb aioli is delicious and you can’t beat the price at $ 4.99. I loved the Infamous Brewery(Austin)‘so Massacre Pumpkin Pecan Porter. You can get a pint of their beers for on-site consumption for $ 4.50 or you can get 2 sizes of growlers. They also have a wine tasting for $ 10. The tasting room has an assortment of food items to purchase like salsa, BBQ sauce, seasonings etc. as well as six packs of lots of Texas/Austin craft brews. They have parking behind the building and it is more pleasant to eat in the Tasting Room than the room where you order the food.

I came here for a late lunch after a day of wine tasting with friends. Food was local and fresh. We had beers on tap from local Texas vendors. Beer and wine tasting was fun and informative. After lunch, we chilled on the front porch that is the historic post office and had growlers. Every time I drive the Highway 290 to Fredericksburg I will stop at Hye Market! Loved this place!

Hye Market is proving that genius and creativity don’t need a big city. Bursting flavors, fresh ingredients, and welcoming people made this a perfect lunch stop off Hwy 290. No detour needed… but it’d be worth it if one was!

Hye Market hosted an after hours private party for us and it was PERFECT! Chef Matt fed us like Texas royalty — the chicken osso bucco was AMAZING. The beer and wine pairings were perfection. Jason was such a generous host and made us all feel like family and a part of the history and community of Hye. They accommodated us bringing in live music and clearing the way for a dance floor which we put to great use. Best party ever! Think of Hye Market for your next special event.

Quick & simple: EVERYTHING in their sandwich menu is great– Homemade sauces & dressings. We recommend the Reuben sandwich with a pickled relish twist, The Italian, The Jason or if they have them available, The Lamb Sliders. Not fancy, not pretentious. Try their new Cedar Creek Stout on draft! Growlers available as well. Hye Market«Hye-ly recommended»!!!

It’s easy to sneeze and fly right by the town of Hye, or miss it pulling out of Hye Meadow Winery or William Chris Winery. I know I have passed by a million times, and never thought to stop in at the Hye Market, and the entire time was missing out BIGTIME! This place has much to offer, from friendly local staff members who will stop and give you a tour of the historic building, to the great fresh food made to order onsite, and lastly the free tastings of local beer, wines, and food products. We have this special gem thanks to the local residents who rallied together to save it in 2011. The building itself houses the market, café, and local post office which has been in operation since 1886(the boxes have been in use over 80 yrs). They have done a great job maintaining the historical aspects of the building, the majority in the main market space is original. Note: Parking is in the back.

We ended up here after a recommendation from Chris at William Chris Winery across the highway. He found out I was more of a beer drinker and told us that Hye Market was doing beer tasting as well as wine tasting. Jason did an excellent job on the tasting. We tried 5 different Belgian beers and walked out with a nice selection. They also had a great selection of central Texas beer. I can only assume the wine tasting and selection was as good. After the tasting, we grabbed a sandwich in the deli. Overall, a great place with a small but excellent selection and good prices.

One of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Ask chef about his hummus. He was trained in Italy and is now doing something he loves.

My girlfriend and I were leaving pedernales falls heading to Fredericksberg when we saw this place on the side or the road and decided to turn around and check it based on its location and appearance. We were not disappointed. Very friendly people. Very informative on the spirits they sell and have a great little venue. Check it out if you are in the area.

Been living out here for a bit but hadn’t needed to purchase any liquor. Today was different. I had been here in the past(many months ago) and thought it was grungy and over priced. Today, I felt different. They have done some remodeling and the place us looking better(and cleaner). The employee(Lisa) was kind and very knowledgable about the stocked items, especially the local stuff. The prices are also really good for being such a small place in a small town. I’m really not a big box buyer any way and the selection here was really good. I’ve never been treated like a real customer at the big box stores and would rather support the«local» businesses.

Okay… This is not in Johnson City. It is actually about 11 miles toward Stonewall in the quaint little Texas town of Hye. I was camping at Pedernales Falls State Park during the height of mountain cedar season. The night before I went to Hye Spirits, I was under full allergy attack and could not sleep well. I decided that the next night, a bit of scotch would help me sleep. I drove into Johnson and did a google search for a liquor store. The first two I tried to find no longer existed. My only option was to go to Hye Spirits, or head for Marble Falls which was twice as far away. Hye Spirits is located in the downtown area of Hye. It isn’t much of a downtown, but there are several buildings grouped together. This building looks kinda like an old general store building. You have to walk up steps to get to the door. Inside, there is a great assortment of booze at great prices. I had been at Gabriel’s two days earlier. Hye Spirits beat their price on the scotch I bought by $ 4 a bottle. I was surprised. I had assumed that a liquor store out in the middle of nowhere would be more expensive. You know– supply and demand. One last note. The young lady working there is very nice.
