I came here to get a pedicure while my grandmother was at a nearby thrift store. When you first walk in, it looks great but to be honest the customer service could use some improvement. The nail tech I had barely spoke English. I had to constantly repeat what I wanted and play charades trying to describe what I wanted her to do. She kept stopping during my service to answer her phone and make a phone call. that was turn off for me. She barely scrubbed by feet. It was only 15 seconds. I wasn’t pleased with the service because it seemed like she was rushing when a friend of hers came in. She never came to check on me while my toes were drying and began to work on her friend. I guess it’s because I didn’t speak Spanish. Idk. I won’t be coming back here. My feet weren’t soft at all at the end of the service. I’m giving one star because she gave me a pretty color.

The One is an excellent salon to get services done like waxing, lash extensions, or spa treatments.

I previously wrote a review detailing the first time I ever had my nails done at «The One Nail and Spa,» but unfortunately I will have to do a update. A bad one at that. I’d give this hole in wall salon a ZERO if i could. I went here last Friday, August 15th, 2014 to get a manicure/pedicure. This time however, I had acrylic nails done for the very first time in my life. I needed a change, my nails were looking pretty dull, and I figured I’d get something that’ll last long and will keep me from biting my nails(a very terrible habit of mine). I went here in the afternoon and it was basically empty. Shocker. So I was greeted by who I believe is the owner, or obviously the woman in charge of the place and told her what I wanted done. Eventually I sat in one the chairs to have my feet soaked and begin the pedicure process. The woman who did my pedicure wasn’t rude but she wasn’t very talkative and hardly even smiled. She basically did the entire procedure in silence which made it a little awkward. Long story short, the pedicure turned out okay. I could have done a better job at home myself, but I digress. Next, I was ushered to another seat to let my toenails dry and start the acrylic nail process. The woman who did my fingernails had a bad attitude, right off the bat. She didn’t smile, she could barely speak English, and she made no conversation whatsoever besides attempting to ask me about nails, and even then I didn’t know what the heck she was trying to ask me. Once she began using the nail machine after she glued on the tips(which is used to shape and form the nails) I started getting nervous. She cut the skin around my nails TWICE and it began to bleed a little .Not cool.(Later on as my nails were drying, I even heard another woman audibly suck her teeth as the SAMETECHNICIAN buffered her nails and obviously cut her as well. She played it off by giggling, but little does she know that her nails are likely going to look just as terrible as mine once it’s all over.) Once that fiasco was over, she added the acrylic power(whatever its called) and finished it up completely about 10 minutes later. Once I looked at the job she did after the polish was dry, I could tell it was mediocre. It looked as if it was done by an amateur(which she clearly is). So I usually don’t press the issue, but this was the first time I’ve ever gotten acrylic nails and since I spent $ 40 bucks on it, so I was pissed and was not going to let it go. So I went back to the salon the following week, Thursday to be exact, and showed her the condition of my nails. I had to remove the polish a few days later because it had begun to chip and at that point it looked bad. I didn’t have much of a choice. The manager gave me every possible bull crap excuse you could conjure up to save yourself the trouble of accepting that you nail technician did a mediocre job: 1) «You didn’t get the gel like she did *shows me another woman’s hands* so it’s not going to last more than a week.» 2) «It doesn’t look bad!» 3) «Acrylic not gonna last two weeks.»(It was only a few days afterwards that my nails began to chip) So we went back and forth for a good six minutes because I wanted to let her know that she was full of crap and that I know how long acrylic is meant to last. I wasn’t going to allow her to sucker me into accepting that as a answer. Eventually, I requested that she at least repolish them and she said«I would have to charge you for it.» At that point I walked out and immediately called my bank. I’m currently in the process of getting the money for this service returned and expect to have it refunded. Even as I had a conversation with multiple sources, another nail technician at a different salon, a MALE associate who is familiar with the procedure, as well as the female associate of my bank who I spoke to over the phone, the owner of this salon is a liar. Acrylic, when done PROPERLY, should last at least two weeks without needing a touch-up whether you get gel ORNOT. Her tech did a bad job and she simply didn’t want to go out of her way, ATALL, to help rectify the situation. I will never return to this salon again, and I would advise anyone else to do the same unless you enjoy getting the run around and dealing with technicians who must have gotten their licensing done in a back alley. The tech didn’t even pick the skin around the nails like most professional places do, and she rushed through the entire thing which is probably part of the reasons it looked so terrible! Thankfully, I had my nails redone, acrylic and all, at GLAMOURNAILS at PG Plaza Mall. I’ve been here twice before, and they are very nice and do an excellent job. Needless to say the redo was needed as even the techs there commented on the bad job that was evident on my fingers, and they even asked where I had them done. Nevertheless, Mimi, the, woman who did my nails was so sweet and genuine. I sincerely recommend them. This place? NEV

I was really excited to find a nail salon in the area. At first impression, it was clean, well maintained, and had friendly staff. Big kudos that they replace the massage chairs every 2 years, and have the place regularly cleaned. Unfortunately, the nail technician was terrible. He cut too much of my nails off, especially my pinky, and it’s still a little sore. He cut all of them very short, and then tried to file them, saying the pain was due to my sensitive skin. It’s impossible to file so close to where my nail meets the flesh when he’d already cut it all off. I should have said something. So I take responsibility there. The polishing was just as awful. After he finished, it looked like a 5 year old polished my nails. I asked him to clean it up a bit. He did, and still looked shabby. The good thing is that the owner is a much better technician. She came and put another coat on and cleaned up the job more. Despite a sore pinky for the next day, it ended up being fine with a few bubbles due to so many coats of paint. My pedicure was beautiful. The owner did the paint on my toes. If the owner takes that one technician off the rotation, and the other technicians(who were still on vacation from Thanksgiving) are better than the guy that did my nails, I may go back. It was so traumatic though. We may just find another shop.
