Looks like this place hasn’t been reviewed in years so I’ll bite. My family moved to Glenarden recently so as with all moves my first task is to hunt for decent food spots. Jimmy’s Liquors and Crab House is one of those dual establishments. Door on the left is for the alkies, door on the right is for the foodies. These days I’m more food than booze so for lunch I took a chance and pulled into their parking lot. Being honest, it’s not much to look at on the inside. The menus are hand-written(but they say they’re updating that and working on a new menu). A couple of tables and some plastic chairs. It’s definitely catering to the Carry-Out set but allows the option to have a seat if you have time to waste(or are too drunk from your purchases next door). Ordered the Wing dinner with Potato Salad and Greens and took myself home to taste. Unilocalers, I have to say, all my misgivings floated away when I tried the food. This is the real deal for Soul Food. The wings were perfectly crispy, the potato salad wasn’t mushy and the greens had a nice kick to them. Basically it’s like having Sunday dinner at your mom’s house. So if you’re feeling adventurous and in the mood for some soul, Jimmy’s is definitely on my list of places to go!

The Asian lady who works here should not be the one to deal with customers, being as though she doesn’t have any customer service skills. She was very rude to me because I was undecided on what to get. I figured she would be able to help me to some extent. She’s strictly in the business of ringing people up and taking the money. She was so rude, I almost wish I had it on video, because it was completely unwarranted. Had Kent Village Liquors have been open on that Sunday night, that is where I would have been. The customer service there is phenomenal.

Booze on the left, crabs on the right. Jimmy’s a genius. Alas, I can only comment on the liquor store. Jimmy’s offers the quintessential liquor store experience: cardboard Absolut cut-outs; a full wall of bulletproof glass separating customer from cashier; hundreds upon hundreds of bottles of liquor on display through said bulletproof glass; fellow patrons picking up Wild Turkey, Cîroc, or Gordon’s gin; floor fans blowing as means of «climate control.» But Jimmy’s has everything you need to host an all-star shindig, including bags of ice and sale prices that will make you jump for joy(like 1.75 L of Grey Goose for $ 50). I would have taken pictures, but… well, it’s just not the kind of place you whip out your SLR.
