U-Haul Moving & Storage of Hyannis

Yesterday I dropped off my SUV at this UHaul to get my trailer hitch installed after recently purchasing a new car. This is the first time I have visited this location and on top of the the first time we have had a UHaul install a hitch.
When I dropped off the car I was greeted by polite staff who were polite but incredibly hilarious. They quoted my three hours for the installation and had it done on two and a half. When it came time to pick it up, the installation looked great and they actually saved me a few dollars.
The only minor glitches with the experience here were that they didn’t have a waiting area so I walked over to the mall. Also, I had to quickly return twice for two separate issues. The first was that I forgot to grab the hitch itself since I had assumed they placed it in my trunk with the other materials (thankfully they called me.) The other issue was that a spring fell out from under the steering wheel and I had to return for them to reassemble it.
In the end, the manager and the man who installed my hitch assembly (Josh) were both great and I look forward to working with this UHaul in the future.

The customer service wasn’t very good but the work they did on installation of my trailer hitch was excellent.

This review is for the location, not U-​Haul overall — which seems to me to be middle-​of-​the-​road for the truck rental options (it’s not that well run an industry).
This location really stands out though: the manager is very hands on and has gone the extra effort for us on a couple of occasions for a couple of different family members, and worked around a number of U-​Haul-​caused kinks in the road. I’ve had such awful experience with managers/​franchisees at just about every other rental place I’ve used in the last five years, Deb (the manager) seems to be the only person in the industry left who gives a damn. So, for the occasional local Cape needs we have, I’ll be going back here.

So I decided to drive across country with my possessions and it seems the least expensive route was to get a 6×12 trailer and tow. Having read nothing but nightmares about people doing this no matter the company used, I still went ahead and rented one. I can’t say enough what great service I had from the Manager at this location. She answered my questions and made sure everything was set up right. I stopped back in a few days later because I realized a chain was worn out a lot and she even came out herself and put brand new ones on.
Needless to say I made it across the country, no issues, and in one piece! I couldn’t be happier with my experience and would recommend with the proper safety checks (tire pressure, chain check, etc), renting and doing this again.
