I cannot reward frozen fish-to-fryer seafood joints on the Cape…

Don’t order a side of fries with the lobster roll. It comes with fries. Went here when we were in town for a wedding. The chowder was good not great but the lobster roll was very good. You got your fair share of lobster for the price of $ 16. Taste was good as well.

You come here for the fried scallops or clams. The best place for fried scallops and fried clams. Lightly battered and fried perfectly.

We ate here three times during our week on The Cape, and enjoyed every meal. The clam chowder is awesome. The fried seafood was delicious, and never tasted greasy. Their baked seafood dishes were equally good. We liked the friendly atmosphere, and personal attention given by the staff. This will be a definite«return» when back on «The Cape».

Decent chowder and huge portions. We spent more than I would like but the food and amount given is well worth the price. If you like your coleslaw dry this is the place it’s not swimming in mayonnaise. We both had a fried dish, all I can say is whaaaa, who knows how to work a deep fryer.

While this restaurant was ideal for our current situation(4 adults, 2 babies under 5 months old), I probably wouldn’t go back if given the choice to go to any restaurant. We snagged an outdoor table which was awesome and the food we had was good, but ridiculously overpriced. I got the lobster roll — good but doesn’t hold a candle to the(much cheaper) Brax Landing version. I also got some fried clams to share with the table. The breading was in need of some serious salt. I enjoyed that they sold beer in frosted glasses, though. Overall, totally fine but certainly not the best seafood on the Cape or whatever they claim.

Perfect family restaurant on the Cape. It’s an indoor/outdoor counter service restaurant. While it cost us a little more than when we eat out at home, it cost way less than most restaurants in vacation spots. The servings are huge. My husband and I could have easily shared our dinners instead of ordering two. While side items may appear pricey, the portions are so large that they could be meals on their own.

Cookes is so delicious. I’ve gone there several times and have never had a bad meal. The fried shrimp is my favorite. The staff is always friendly. I would highly recommend eating here

This place is really just okay. Decent food, but somewhat overpriced for counter service. Upon entering the restaurant you place your order at the counter and then find a seat. The staff will bring the food over to you. I believe the biggest issue here is the staff needs some more training. The young, summer employees definitely would benefit from some help with their customer service skills. We were handed our tray of chowders at the counter before finding a seat. We had to remind the girl to fill our beverage order as well so we would have something to drink with the chowder. The restaurant itself is large and seemed very clean. We found a booth and sat down to enjoy the clam chowders, but we were disappointed when we found it was very bland with hardly any clams. A girl soon appeared from behind the counter with a tray of food and called our number. We waved her over and she hastily placed our tray on the table and dashed away. It was as if she was afraid of us! She did not offer to take away our first tray the chowders were served on so now we had a very crowded table full of trays. It also would have been courteous if she had asked us if we needed anything else before disappearing. We realize this is a very casual establishment with limited table service, but a little extra effort from the waitstaff would be nice. Like I said above, the food is just okay. Our biggest complaint was the tartar sauce which is extremely watery and has a very tangy taste. I firmly believe Tartar sauce will make or break a heaping plate of fried seafood. I was torn between 2 – 3 stars on this one, but settled on 2. The food wasn’t terrible and since we were on a schedule we needed a quick dining experience. However, I am all for good customer service and this place is definitely lacking in that department.

Sorry… I must have missed something or, I am used to the excellent seafood served on the Southcoast and in Rhode Island. Bland fish batter, had better from the Gorten Fisherman. Onion rings? Batter falling off. greasy. The fountain coke was good. To add insult to this lackluster meal. no soap or toilet paper in the lady’s room on a Friday in July. Get you act togethet Cooke’s!!! Sorry. if this is considered good by Cape standards then I suggest you eat before you cross the bridge.

Came here with my family while on vacation. We were excited to eat some seafood so we just stopped at the first place we saw. The food was okay… The atmosphere was like a chain store/low end diner and the food reflected that. While the food itself wasn’t bad, it was very apparent that a lot of the items were already made and frozen and just reheated right before serving. They have a pretty good lunch menu, but I think I paid more than I should have for the food quality. You’re better off paying an extra 5 $ per plate at another restaurant near by that serves fresher food.

Cooke’s is a family owned seafood restaurant that serves yummy, fresh seafood, mostly fried, for very reasonable prices and attracts a good crowd of locals and visitors. We’ve hardly sampled all the seafood joints on the Cape — has anyone? — but this one has to rank towards the top. Our example: clam chowder thick with bites of meat, a pair of fried shrimp platters($ 13.99 each) holding at least a dozen large, crispy battered shrimp, fries and onion rings with a container of slaw. The slaw was ok, everything else was flat-out delicious. The restaurant specializes in clams and scallops, and lots of others dining this evening ordered them and looked very happy. It’s casual not high-end; you walk in, order at the front desk, then find a seat and wait for one of the friendly waitresses to bring your tray. The service is quick. The interior is nice looking, very clean and comfortable — and it’s a little larger than you might think from the outside. There’s plenty of free parking on both sides and behind the restaurant. Really, we are fans now and recommend Cooke’s very highly!

My first trip back to the Cape in 3 years and I had to stop by Cookes. I ordered a small side of clams and a Sprite and the gf ordered the broiled scallops. When the food arrived, the scallops had bread crumbs sprinkled on top of them, to our surprize. Now my girlfriend is gluten free and by rights, she should have informed them prior to ordering. They could have given her a hard time but did not, and really were very decent about the whole thing. My clams were just as I always had in years past, in a light-grease free batter. The scallops came cooked perfectly. All Cookes staff were very pleasant and helpful. Minus one star for the blech coleslaw and mini sodas with no refills-That is REALLYLAME –Those are the smallest soda cups I have ever seen and I am in the business guys!

I changed it up and ordered the seafood platter which included scallops, shrimp, clams, and sole. Man oh man. The scallops and clams were deeeeeeeelicious!!! The fish and shrimp were good but I’m salivating just thinking about the scallops and clams. They were battered and deep fried and full of yummy-ness. Again, you go up and order and sit down with a number and wait for your food. Once it’s ready, a server will walk around with your food yelling out your number.

Food here is just ok. Service was nice and friendly though. The lobster rolls were just ok. Mostly leg meat, almost no chunks of any claw other than ends. But it was seasoned well. The Calamari and full belly clams were ok, not really memorable but not bad either. The fries were good though. The clam chowder was a disappointment. Tastes more like something out of a can and you have to really dig for any clams.

Stopped here for lunch with lobster roll in mind. Got a lobster roll and chowder. The lobster roll was classic toasted hot dog roll, filling was plentiful and larger chunks were mostly claw meat. $ 12.95 for lobster roll, which being Cape Cod and main drag in Hyannis was not really a bad deal. I like celery in mine, which it had. The chowder was good classic New England clam chowder. It was what I would consider a very good lunch. Nice day on the patio, little windy but glad to have real tables and an awning.

I was just telling a friend about this place and realized I needed to Unilocal it! My family came here a LOT when I was younger, but we hadn’t been to the cape for several years, so it kind of fell out of focus. Last year I was going to a concert at the Melody Tent so I stopped in with my mom along the way. Her clam strips were tender and delicious and my fish and chips was big and tasty. I was kind of sad I couldn’t finish the whole thing, but also didn’t have any where to store it if i wanted to take it with me. We’ve driven back a few times since and had great experiences with the food and staff. I can’t wait to go back on my way to the Melody Tent again this year!

Come on, it’s the Friendly’s of Seafood(which is oddly next door). Everything is solid. But nothing is exceptional. Great place to get the fried seafood fix!
