This is such a fun little market! I live in Wichita, but I’ve been up here a few times. I can’t really speak to their groceries, but I do love the candy section, the fudge, and all the little knick-knacks. They have some good local treats too, like popcorn & salsa. Prices are all great! I only wish they had MORE of the fun knick-knacks & toys!

This is a very special place and a Hutch must-see! A browser’s paradise. The honey selection is wowzers, the dried fruits and nuts selection epic. Wacky gifts, foodie gifts and natural soaps and lotions, teas in bulk! A very well curated market store. Tip: If you don’t see your produce out front, ask: they probably have more in the back. I wish they had more organic produce and specialty cheeses, but that’s a minor flaw in this gem.

A little bit of everything it seems. Doesn’t have the feel of a supermarket. Which is good. The environment is inviting, so it doesn’t feel like a chore to go shop. And frankly, the place is pretty cool.

When did Smith’s get so cool? When I was a kid, Smith’s was a simple supermarket. It was very small, but my grandma said it has the best produce section of any other grocery store in town and she would often take me there on shopping trips. Because of the size of the place it didn’t have everything you wanted and sadly, since it was so far down main street and off the main drag, it was often overlooked for the larger Dillon’s stores. When I returned to Hutchinson last year for a visit, I was very surprised to see the bright and shiny makeover that Smith’s has had! Everything is brand new and even the content has been vamped up. The produce is more organic now and there are vegetarian options(a rarity for Hutchinson) and lots of healthier options than your run-of-the-mill grocery store. Well, aside from their extensive candy selection which looked very fancy! If I lived in Hutchinson again, this would be a place I’d frequent often as they seem to cater more to the veggie crowd and also because I happen to like brightness and shininess. I was definitely dazzled by Smith’s new look and I think it will breathe some new life into the southern end of Hutchinson. Way to go Smith’s!
