Went to this store today because Joann Fabrics did not have what I was looking for. Found everything I needed at Hancock Fabric, now need to have things cut. Laid down our stuff at the counter, there was no one there, and a lady named Alana said you need to move it to the other cutting station. So we did. As lines got longer, the person helping us actually had to ask Alana for assistance, she did come across as unpleasant nor barely spoke to any customers. By the time we left all three cutting stations were being used, not sure why we were asked to move. Alana checked us out, did not speak to us, did not ask if we needed anything else, we paid, she put our stuff in bags, she put the receipt in the bag and handed it over to us and then said«have a nice day.» I will not shop at Hancock Fabric again, worst customer service ever. I will search for another Joann Fabrics and drive the distance for the service!

I like the size of this store. It is a fabric store primarily, so everything is in a concentrated area and it isn’t as time consuming as walking around a huge craft store. The selection is pretty good. Some of the stuff is overpriced though. I don’t know why exactly, but the ladies working there seem very serious and stern. And there is zero sense of urgency on their part when it’s time to checkout. It’s nice to have this store as an option, but I think the employees could be a little nicer.

After remembering that I needed an a new iron at Super Target, and realizing that Super Target’s selection wasn’t very good(according to the ratings on Amazon) I thought that places like a Jo-Ann’s or Hancock(you know, places that live on fabric) would have a broader selection. Well, I was surprised to find that no… they don’t have a broad selection(in fact, there is really no selection at all). All they had was two Rowenta irons… I don’t have a problem with Rowenta(my girlfriend has one and loves it, even though it only gets an average 3 star rating on Amazon), but I just wish there was more selection here. Oh, did I mention how difficult it was to find said iron? Considering that the limited staff was tied up with the few customers that were in there we didn’t get so much as a greeting, let alone help. Anyhow, after I found out that this was the only iron they carry I left to check out Jo-Ann’s(also another disappointment — Rowenta only too). But guess where I found my next iron at? Sears. The brand? T-faL.(yes, the skillet company) Nope, I’m not kidding. Apparently, this T-faL gets about 4 stars on Amazon(and so far it’s been a pretty good iron — though I wish it were a bit heavier).

This was one of the best stores for buying fabrics when I was growing up. It’s location was within walking distance and it allowed my creative side to flourish with all of their choices. I find that the store itself has change a little, now adding things like crafts items, beads, yarn and silk flowers. There is more home furnishings, but they still have the same great choices of fabrics for any type of project. It was and still is a great place to shop!
