My boyfriend and I just went here on Valentine’s Day and Pamela was fantastic! The prices were extremely reasonable and she knows her stuff; I highly recommend. They have lawns and a balcony for warmer days and while I’m not from North Carolina myself, I will be returning when I visit again!

We came out to Rock of Ages because one of our friend’s wedding ceremony and reception was being held there! I had never heard of this place before and saw on the map it was a little out there in the middle of no where compared to some other places. When we arrived we immediately saw why the venue was chosen to host the wedding! It really is a very pretty spot with the vineyard surrounding the property and the winery building itself was pretty amazing looking. It had rained a couple days before the ceremony(which was outside) and the staff at the winery did everything they could to make sure the space set up for the event was as close to game-ready as possible. They did a great job. I will echo a few previous reviews and say a lot of the wines they make here are on the sweeter side but that’s definitely OK with me as I enjoy the sweet wines the most. What I was most impressed with was where the reception was held. It was in the main building and it was a great layout to host a couple hundred wedding guests! If you’re ever in the area I would absolutely reccommend coming here for the wine and the views.

After being genuinely disappointed and posting a not so good review, I would like to amend it after talking with the owner Kevin. He did explain that those 2008 grapes were bottled in a later year… maybe a bad cork to account for the taste? I suppose that’s possible. The red with the sediment he said was created Bordeaux style for extra flavor. with just a small taste he might like to warn his customers about this as I wasn’t a fan and probably would have chosen a different red. That being said, he very graciously refunded my purchase by taking the time to look up my credit card information without even telling me and I hadn’t asked to be credited. Very classy act.

Rock of Ages Winery is one of the most beautiful venues in North Carolina! The owners, Kevin and Kim Moore are warm and welcoming to all their customers but most importantly appreciative for all the support they have received. Their staff are knowledgeable when it comes to Rock of Ages wines, vineyard and history. My friends and I visit this winery several times a year for the last 3 years and yet to have a bad experience. You surely will not be disappointed in their hospitality, venue, wine and gift shop! Be sure to log into their website and sign up for the newsletter for the upcoming events that have no cover charge and they offer ‘free’ food and wine pairings! What are you waiting for?

Over 17 different grapes are grown on this property. Interesting wines and worth taking a short detour while traveling through NC(on I-85). The volunteer who was serving was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The tasting was $ 5 and was supposed to be for 5 wines but I got to try everything that I wanted. I forgot to go upstairs but the scenery is beautiful and wish I would have.

I’m so glad that Nikki K. showed me this place because it really does rock!!! I went there in mid May for their annual Cork & Pork festival. The Rock of Ages Winery & Vineyard is located in Hurdle Mills which is in North Carolina’s southern Person County. It is also run by Kevin Moore, the winemaker, and member of the Moore family whose property it sits on. I’d never heard of it before this adventure and it’s certainly in the middle of nowhere, but it was a wonderful visit. First, I tasted the local bbq featured at the event and was impressed. What a great idea to have local foods out to enjoy with a wine event. It’s only $ 5 per tasting so that had me excited too. Then I went for a White Wine tasting. There were 6 to sample. Most of these wines were too tart for my tastes, but I was impressed with the wine lady’s knowledge. Next I wandered over for a Red Wine tasting and really enjoyed this Mr. Moore’s funny humor and way of connecting you to the wines. 5 red wines to sample. They give really good-sized samples so you definitely get what you pay for! They have Dry White Wines, Dry Red Wines, Sweet Wines, and Fruit Wines. The building is absolutely beautiful. It would be a wonderful venue for a special event, especially a wedding. They offer their place up for weddings too. There is a beautiful patio and upstairs deck. The lawn is quite spacious for picnics and lounging with your wine purchases. Plenty of wine is available for purchase inside along with other fun wine-related knickknacks and local recipes or items. A very quaint spot and a hidden country gem.

Oh goodness. I have found the perfect place. I don’t really want to Unilocal about it because I want it to be my secret. Nestled way out in Southern Person county is this wonderful vineyard and winery. Wonderful outdoor covered patios overlooking the vineyard. They have(I believe) 26 acres that they currently use and about 300 more to expand. Woo-wee! Inside is a new, nice, cozy, big open area with a bar at the back. Wine tastings are always fun, and you get to save your glass! Neat. We did not get to tour the winery due to a wedding happening the evening we were there, but you can bet I’ll be back here! I can’t wait for fall. Go out there, sit out on the patio with a nice bottle of red and listen the crisp breeze. I’m so excited!
