This is a great bar in Huntsville. The best thing to order hands down is the Mean Gene Chicken Fried Sandwich with a nice cold 32 oz jar of Ziegenbock to wash it down. The sandwich is dripping in buffalo sauce and the chicken is huge so it is a bit messy but I consider that half the enjoyment. Just make sure to grab LOTS of paper towels. The service is typically very good and friendly. The atmosphere is only thing I’m docking here — they have a «non-smoking» section which is right next to smoking and we always leave here smelling like an ash tray. I know this is a bar and people like to smoke, the thing is… I don’t. I absolutely HATE smoking and when I have to tolerate it just to enjoy some amazing beer and food it really brings the whole experience down. Other than that, great place. Tons of specials and some of best prices in town.

God awful delicious hamburgers and chili dogs at this place! Family friendly too! Great local hangout for the college crowd and those just beyond. You can smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em too!

Zach’s has great chicken fried steak but since I had chicken fried steak for breakfast at Café Texan, I wanted to choose something different for lunch. Zach’s has great food. I have written reviews before on some of the delectable delights that I’ve had there but I’ve never had their cheeseburger so I gave it try. It came with fries to be all washed down with a 32 oz. mason jar of Ziegenbock. Sorry Zach, great to see you but the burger was only ok, nothing extraordinary. I’m gonna stick to my chicken fried steak the next time that I’m in Huntsville.

They have fabulous beer specials! But the food is ehhh. 5 $ a pound for Crawfish though isn’t too bad :) Great relaxed fun environment!

My boyfriend and I went for dinner and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. He had the shrimp which were quite yummy. I had the fried catfish that was not, not enough seasoning and definitely not cooked enough. We ordered fried mushrooms which were really good though! the waitress was friendly but not very attentive. The music was great according to my boyfriend, it was fun to sing along with. Laid back and the food was decent.

If you’re looking for a good old fashion bar fight, this place will accommodate. From the drunk regular that is looking to prove himself but can’t see straight, to the bartender that refuses to serve you because it’s the waitresses job, not hers, this place has customer service nailed down! Pool tables and the games on tv, but it appears to be lacking the give a $@&! from whomever owns or manages it that would allow it to be a relaxed, fun place to knock back a couple of cold ones.

For the price point, Zach’s is awesome. $ 4.99 cheese burger(that’s awesome), fries, and a drink. Tuesdays has $ 3 mason jars of beer(32 oz). You can’t beet that. I’ve heard they have the best crawfish in Huntsville, but I can’t confirm.

Didn’t expect too much walking in, but I was happy to see a bunch of daily specials to pick from in addition to the regular menu. I went with the Chicken Fried Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich and kicked in an extra $ 1.50 for Onion Rings instead of fries. The food was good, everything was tasty and fresh, and everyone seemed happy with our lunch. With tax and tip it was still only $ 9 for lunch, so that was a win. I’m looking forward to going here again and trying something else on the menu.

Very average food. Decent service. Decent atmosphere for a sports bar but has a slight smoky odor inside(I have a sensitive nose). We were in town visiting SHSU for my niece. Ordered the cajun/blackened chicken Alfredo. Chicken was good, sauce was too much and too creamy… Ended up only eating noodles until I finished the chicken pieces. I had a bunch of cream and noodles leftover. ‘French’ bread was just buttered/grilled bread. I tasted the burger and grilled chicken, and both were quite good for this type of place. Service was attentive without being pushy. Overall it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Would I go back? Sure, maybe for a few drinks and a burger. But it’s nothing to write home about.

If you want a good burger, they have them. Other than that, I’m not much of a fan unless I’m already on a good buzz and out with friends. Definitely a college hang out, of course.

Oh Zach’s… I remember when you were at the old location 10 years ago when I was still at Sam. I thought you were cheap and delicous. My friend and I came back here a few weeks ago just to take some pictures around the campus and just for nostalgic reasons, we decided to lunch here. We got all sorts of weird stares when we came in… but probably because we were dressed up and didn’t look like a college kid on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We got an order of fried pickles and I got a hamburger while my friend got the California burger. Fried pickles were greasy but good. Our burger tasted overdone, dry with no flavor. I was sadly disappointed. The new location has more of a bar/warehouse feel but I think I prefer the older location where they actually have A/C blowing instead of humidity.

I got the Juicy Lucy for lunch today and was so pleasantly surprised! My other coworkers frequent here, and for good reason too! My burger was cut in half, and inserted into the center was perfectly melted cheddar cheese and bacon chunks. Talk about delicious! The bread was a bit soft and could maybe use a bit more toasting, but the yummy burger certainly makes up for its deficiencies. The fries were good, but not phenomenal. This may be my new, default forgot-to-bring-lunch place.

Zach’s never lets you down. Burgers are outstanding and cheap, as is the beer. Salads are great, and HUGE. Fries are good, order them spicy! Yum!

This place is alright… I was down there on a golfing expedition. The burger I had wasn’t very good compared to another bar I went to in Huntsville. It seemed like a typical trashy college bar.

Since my freshman year in college(waaaay back in the day), Zach’s has been in 3 different locations. But one thing remains: good burgers and cheap beer. We took the looong way home from Louisiana today to stop off at my alma mater, grab a burger from Zach’s, and check another bbq joint off our Texas Monthly BBQ list. Since we were grazing our way across LA and TX, we decided to split a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Burgers are ½ lb and are grilled — something that we just don’t see much of, given the number of burgers we seem to consume! They were liberal with the bacon — ours had 5 or 6 slices on it. Fries are crinkle-cut, hot, fresh, and thick. Service was friendly, and our order was accurate. It’s Huntsville, though — you’re not going to get your food in a super hurry. Fortunately, though, the beer keeps coming! We each had 2 beers while we were there, and with the burger and fries that we split, our tab was under $ 17. Man, I miss living in a college town!
