Two Thumbs Up Tinsel Trail 2015! We love the Big Spring Park and we always enjoy relaxing there, and even more so in the winter when it is so beautifully decorated. The stroll through the park, getting to see some many great Christmas trees, while the lights flicker across the water, kids riding the train, music playing from the jazz band, and watching the fountain change colors… it’s such a great outing you must visit if you haven’t already.

The Tinsel Trail is a collection of publicly-decorated Christmas Trees brought to you by the Downtown 47. Each tree is sponsored by a civic organization, business, or patron. Many choose to decorate according to their theme — crayons, real estate signs, DNA with electrophoresis trays, etc. Others just fit the holiday, like the one decorated as the Abominable Snowman(see picture). There are about 100 trees in all, lining the sidewalk closest to the Big Spring by the Art Museum. It’s a free public art display — a nice, easy walk to get you in the spirit of the season. There is also a concessions trailer with Cokes and hot chocolate, and a skating rink with skate rental available as a fundraiser for the art museum. Add it to your list of Christmas traditions!
