Came here for breakfast on a Saturday and sat at the bar top area when you walk in. The waitress was very nice and balanced cashing everyone out and waiting tables well. This is your typical old school American restaurant. The breakfast menu includes omelets, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. I had the western omelet, which was huge! They definitely don’t skimp on the ingredients. The biscuit and sausage gravy was also good. The food came out very quickly, which was surprising considering how large the restaurant is and busy it was.

Whole catfish was under cooked. Grease was pooled under the fish on the plate which made the whole side of one fish soggy. Hush puppies were over cooked. Asked for onion on the side and received two little circles. Texas toast and celery were served on the side which I found a little strange. I may try again but not the fish. Son’s slider, burgers were just alright. Wife’s patty melt had no onion. Sorry but I tell as I see it. Service was good.

Fried catfish was excellent. However, the kitchen was running behind today. They just reopened this week, and with all the publicity from that, they had maybe 150 diners at lunchtime. It was about 45 minutes from the time we arrived until we got our food. It was a Saturday, and we were not in a hurry. To me the catfish was worth the wait. However, if you’re on a tighter schedule, you might pick up a plate at the salad bar, and start with that. Also, ask your waitress which menu items are quick. I think Mullins is the second oldest restaurant business in Huntsville, with Big Spring Café being the oldest. I don’t think these new owners have finished hiring employees yet, so hopefully service times will have improved by the time we return.
