I desperately wanted to give them a better review, but ive tried eating here a couple times and both times they were out of pork and brisket, which is 75% of the menu. The second time was was during an event, and within the first hour which makes me think they were not prepared. I hope that the third time will work out, and ill update my review then.

After seeing the 4.5 star review on Unilocal,I was excited to try out the food from this food bus. Unfortunately, this did not live up to my expectations. The Brisket Nachos: The brisket was okay but nothing spectacular about it. The chips were low quality and not the freshest that I’ve had. The queso was bland and the only flavor I got was from this were from the jalapeños and sriracha on top. The Brisket Tacos: Wrapped in a soft tortilla, the brisket was drowned in bland queso with some bbq sauce and tomatoes. This created an undesirable texture. As someone who is not a chef I feel reluctant to give suggestions, however, if I was trying to find some point that would have turned the meal around it would be these. For the tacos: The flour tortillas for the tacos would have greatly benefited from being in a pan of oil for a few seconds to add some crunch and flavor, a little flash fry. Perhaps, some greens like cilantro or some fresh onions would have improved the brisket cheese sludge. For the nachos: The cheese could have used a little bit of cumin, peppers, spices or just some pepper. It needed a kick beyond squirting some sriracha on top. Increasing the quality of the chips would help as well. Believe it or not the things I really enjoyed out of the meal were the jalapeño slices that came out of a can. This is the type of meal that you don’t want to send back, it’s the kind of meal that you want to ask the chef to taste. I never enjoy giving a below average review, however, the reviews only have integrity if you can separate them as great, good or below average.

The guy across the table said«I better call my mama and tell her to slap herself.» Dangggggggggggg. That was good. I got the Clint Eastwood and the Fats Domino. My hubby got the sliders(with brisket and bus sauce), our buddy got the brisket dog. Holy crap they were all so good. Especially if you’ve had a few beers and are hungry. This will hit the spot. They’re super messy which is usually a great sign. EATFROMTHISFOODTRUCK.

just tried the«Rockin tacos» — chicken. Cubed chicken breast(supposedly marinated, but really not über flavorful), on small flour tortillas. Recommend the sriracha(sp?) sauce which adds a little heat. Another option is cole slaw which is diced up really tiny and doesn’t add much to the taco. You get two tacos for 7.00. They aren’t really filling, so you could easily get 3 and be hungry by dinner time. Extras are house made fries with various toppings($ 3: small size /$ 5: large size) So, do try Food Fighters. You don’t dine *in* the bus, but place your order at a side window, wait a few minutes and then they hand you your food. There is no outside seating either. Get the sriracha sauce! Yum!

Here’s the skinny on Food Fighters. Are you afraid to eat food out of an old school bus? Are you afraid of trying twists on classic dishes? If you answered yes to either of these questions, this«bustaurant» may not be for you. Otherwise, come check it out. My favorite dish is the(sliced) beef soft tacos with sriracha mayo and jalapeños. $ 7 gets you two tacos, chips, and a can of soda. The tacos are just hot enough to be interesting, but that heat is expertly balanced with mayo, corn, and beans. They are crazy-good. Their dogs are great too. The Snoop dog is smothered in diced green chilies and pepper jack cheese. The hotdogs themselves are large and flavorful. I’m guessing they are 100% beef. They also offer staples like Chicago dogs and chili dogs along with a number of other hot sandwiches. Almost every item on the menu has an interesting twist that makes the dish unique to Food Fighters. There’s a real personality to the menu. It’s an «in your face» flavor profile. These guys would earn my fifth star if they could speed up service just a tad. I usually visit them during my lunch break and it would be nice if I had a little more time to enjoy lunch before having to get back to work. Oh! They accept Paypal too. That’s super convenient for me. Use the Paypal mobile app, check in to the Bustaurant and let them know you’re paying with Paypal. No paper. No wallet. Just a happy little exchange of electrons. Science! No plans for lunch next Tuesday? Come to the Chevron on 72 by Old Monrovia(Hobby Lobby, Carmike).
