Service: really good. Bartender was friendly, attentive and available. Food: Overall on the food: what I had was good, but not great. The margarita was good, chicken bites were good but needed more sauce to balance the slight dryness. Wedge salad was a miss only bc of the salad dressing. A $ 10 side salad should have no question that the ingredients are superb. And everything was good, except that bottled dressing. The ranch(that came with the chicken) tasted house made, should have ordered that instead.

I won’t go into much detail, because it is unnecessary. The atmosphere is 5 stars(if you get a reservation, otherwise, just go somewhere else). The food is fine. From the drinks to appetizers to entrees to dessert — okay. Nothing is great. Some things are improperly cooked. Some things are over seasoned. But nothing is «bad». However, this is definitely one of the pricier places in Huntsville and the portions aren’t exactly huge… So, as someone who likes food, if up to me, I have no reason to pay so much for ‘okay’ food when there are so many other wonderful options, for less money, just without the fancy atmosphere.

I have been here countless times but I have to brag on my starter salad I had on my last visit. I love goat cheese, so put it on anything and I am ordering it. The goat cheese with the almonds… the dressing… it all played so well together!!!

I’ve eaten here a few times and there are some positives. First, the lunch prices are very reasonable, to that of a Ruby’s or Chili’s. Food is okay, not spectacular like I had heard. Also, the tables are very close together. The service is solid with a fairly good wait time. If you do go, I recommend the salmon for lunch.

Came here while visiting town due to Unilocal reviews. Certainly no disappointment here. Quick and excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Food was outstanding. Had the salmon and added side of grilled scallops(didn’t see it on the menu but saw someone else get them so I got them). And so glad I did. Definitely this one is worth a visit.

Pork chops were the bomb. I’m from Los Angeles, but hope to be back here soon to enjoy a meal. The butternut am squash soufflé was just ok. If you’re in the neighborhood, go to Commerce Kitchen.

Good choice for a higher quality lunch while visiting Huntsville. Professional, friendly, and helpful staff. The atmosphere was classy and clean. We enjoyed fresh tasting grilled chicken salads. Grits were very popular as side dishes with several fellow diners(obviously very good). I would recommend reservations since the dining room area is somewhat small. A small but well stocked bar at the entrance, which is to the side and not the front of the building, looked perfect for a quick drink.

The wife and I had a date night here last night and it was amazing. We started with a crab cake for the appetizer which was perfect. Then moved onto the Wedge salad. I ordered the ribeye(mr) and my wife had the shrimp and grits. They were both wonderful. The steak was slightly over cooked but the flavor was great.

Waitstaff definitely need training. Attitude and guests attention is very lacking in a restaurant with high quality cuisine.

In my top 3 favorite Huntsville restaurants. Comfortable but stylish atmosphere. The food is a variety of Southern fusion that won’t break the bank. Always something interesting and local on tap as well. Huntsville has some great breweries and Commerce seems to appreciate that. A great place to eat with your significant other and take a stroll around the square downtown. Overall, they’re everything you want a restaurant to be: consistently good food, service, location and affordability.

We were visiting our daughter & son-in-law recently & had dinner at Commerce Kitchen in Huntsville. We had an 8:00PM reservation for 4 at an outdoor table & had good food & great service. They offer complimentary curbside valet parking … A nice device in this area. I had the the ½ chicken with Brussel Sprouts & squash soufflé($ 24), my wife & daughter both had the salmon($ 20) & my son-in-law had what he calls the«best cheeseburger in Huntsville»($ 14 w/pimento cheese & fries). We had a pimento cheese & crackers appetizer($ 7)and a side of Parmesan fries that were on the fat & dry side. Relaxed atmosphere & reasonable prices will bring us back.

Easy 5 star rating. Great ambiance and awesome food. From the fish to the pork, everything is prepared to perfection. I had the pork roast; awesome. Good wine selection, and small, but good beer selection. I could go on, but it would be a waste of words. Come here, eat, and leave happy.

This has the reputation as one Huntsville’s best and I won’t argue about that. It’s got a great, location, atmosphere, and food. I had the Trout and every bite was amazing. The corn chowder appetizer burst with flavor. I could have ate a massive bowl of that. I have already been to this place twice in four days. With a couple glasses of wine, appetizer and desert you are going to drop around $ 50. I did not find the mix drinks to be excellent. They were average. I also went cheap on my second night and only got the cheeseburger with egg. It was tasty but I have had much better burgers in my day. It’s probably only on the menu for the kids. I will be back but will stick with the main entrees. This place is great. I am just macro critiquing.

Our order: Green Tea Mojito & Spring Bloom «Hot» Chicken Bites Shrimp and Grits & Pan-Seared Salmon Acrobat Pinot Gris Bottom line: Great food in a more accessible setting than sister-restaurant Cotton Row. To be brief, everything was delicious. Seriously, seriously delicious. The décor is clean and welcoming, and we almost felt overdressed(jeans definitely appropriate). We came in on the back end of the dinner rush, and while the restaurant was full it wasn’t loud, nor did it feel overcrowded. The lighting was a little abrasive, but they did finally turn it down around 9. The cocktails were a little overly sweet but delicious, with serious flavor complexities. The«hot» chicken was incredible — I’d ask for extra slaw and hot sauce next time — and easily generous enough for a table of four or a small entrée. We couldn’t finish it between the two of us without spoiling our entrees. I couldn’t decide what to order, so I put a few options to our wonderful server. He told me that Commerce is known for their Shrimp and Grits so I went with his recommendation — holy wow. Incredibly rich, but the grits alone would be worth the order. It was heaven. Significant other ordered the salmon, which was absolutely perfectly seared, something many restaurants don’t do quite often enough. It was served with some excellent roasted root vegetables that held their own, and a parsnip purée that was outstanding. I wish I could get my parsnips to taste that good. The service was great, the food was better, and we can’t wait to go back.

The search for pecan pie ended here. Wow. Glad it didn’t end any sooner or I would have missed out. I suppose that’s the reaction one might expect when the slice is this delicious, warm, sweet and savory. Chocolate pecan pie, no less. To further prove that Alabama embodies the spirit of southern hospitality I witnessed at the bbq place just last night, Commerce Kitchen staff lived up to the billing. Quick. Pleasant. Thoughtful. Having seen me dining alone, the wait staff brought me a glass of milk completely by their own volition and completely on the house! It can’t be that I’m so lucky to get spoiled like this so shouldn’t i attribute it to Huntsville and the people who live here? I’ll come here for dinner next time I’m in town.

I must say I really enjoyed Commerce Kitchen. The food was very good and I will definitely be back and telling others. My fiancé and I started off with the«Hot» chicken(fried chicken fingers with sauce) and Caesar salads. For the entrees I had Shrimp and Grits and he had the Chicken and Waffles. For dessert I had red velvet cake with candied pecans and he had the caramel cheesecake. The also bring out biscuits with this awesome jam accomplished with butter and honey. Can we say Mmm Mmm Good! EVERYTHING was good ! The chicken for the chicken and waffles as well as the«hot» chicken was fried and seasoned perfectly. Definitely worth the try and I’ll be going back myself :)

Visited on 9÷9÷2014 Food: I ordered the Kentucky Honey(maker’s mark, honey, lemon and ginger) as my cocktail, fried green tomatoes as a starter, the swordfish(of course) which was the night’s special, and the cheesecake for dessert. I have been to a ton of places that serve swordfish, but very rarely do I encounter one that is as tender and succulent as what I ate on that night. If I had to complain about anything at all, it would be the size(about 6 oz), but that probably because it was delicious and I wanted more, like a fat kid. The cocktail, tomatoes and cheesecake were fantastic as well. Service: Our waiter was completely hospitable. Had he not mentioned the special of the day, I would have missed out on some very fine swordfish. Décor: The place has a refined southern feel, which is a bit refreshing coming from Las Vegas. The place was fancy, yet casual, with white tablecloths and jeans aplenty.

Came here with a large group so we had a set menu. Some of my thoughts… Atmosphere(3⁄5): A little restaurant that you would expect to be cozy but they had the AC blasting. One of the AC unit was right under one of our table so there were 4 girls that were literally shivering throughout the whole dinner. My table even complained but I don’t think they did anything about it. Food(4⁄5): If you’re looking for a salad, the Spinach, Fried Egg, Bacon Salad was delicious. I love how they put a fried egg on top of the salad. The Southern Fried Chicken was decent, but not what I was expecting. If you like your chicken tender then I would recommend that dish. Otherwise don’t expect the fried, greasy type of chicken. They should change the name to Southern Chicken instead of Southern Fried Chicken. The wine pairing we had with dinner was Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc/Viognier, Napa, CA2012 and Locations, F-1 by Davey Phinney, Red Blend, France 2011.

One of the bright spots of Huntsville’s food scene, Commerce Kitchen is one of the few places I wished stayed open longer. It’s a cosy environment of neutral colors and décor straight out of a Restoration Hardware catalog; used to be a law office of some sort from what I hear. However, the styling is a distant second to the contemporary spin on southern fare. Today I dropped by(late lunch as usual) for fish tacos that, thank goodness, are pan sautéed and not fried as it is paired with a red cabbage and carrot slaw, itself atop a friend green tomato. Pair this with a ‘signature’ cocktail like the strawberry Bourbon absinthe concoction I had today and you’re likely to add this place to your clutch lunch list… limited as it may. Even the non-alcoholic beverages are noteworthy: today’s tea selection included seasonal peach-anise and blackberry mint options. Over the years I’ve also had great dishes from braised pork, oysters, seared salmon and even a very decent shrimp and grits. The service, for me, has always been crisp and responsive and they even can take a bad-humor joke every now and again. That’s alwyas enough for a return visit for me.
