If you are looking for a great retro breakfast place… here it is! We walked in and saw at least 5 farmers sitting at the counter talking about corn crops! Who knows more about country breakfasts then farmers? They have a great menu, the food is fresh, the coffee is good and they serve ham off the bone as your sides. Great place to stop on your road to Wisconsin! Check them out.

I happened in here by chance a few weeks ago on a Wednesday morning. I had two eggs over easy with corned beef. It came with hash browns and my choice of toast from HOMEMADE bread! I chose the rye, and it might be the best rye I’ve ever had in my whole entire life! The eggs and corned beef hash were very good as well. Service was fast and friendly. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back in Huntley but if I am — I’ll probably stop in.

Nice variety to choose from on the menu for breakfast and lunch. We sit at the counter rather than wait for a table since we always end up here at peak times. I can’t attest to the quality of the table service but the counter service has been good. The food has always come out really fast, too, even when they are really busy. The food is good and their homemade breads and rolls are great!

Standard breakfast food. I have had better, but for the price I can’t complain.

The breakfast here is very good and the prices are inline with Burnt Toast or other similar local places. The difference here is the biscuits and gravy are outstanding. The homemade bread/toast is also amazing. The portions are huge and a great value. We’ve had breakfast and dinner here several times and can’t complain about either menu. We tend to have the same two waitresses every time we visit and both are very nice and do their job well. They’re very friendly and kind of give it that old school diner experience. I almost forgot… the busboy is outstanding and very tentative. When the place is super busy… and it usually is because of the great food… he fills the gap for the waitresses. He’ll refill drinks and take finished plates away fast. He makes everything run very smooth and deserves big kudos! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is that the interior needs to be cleaned up… or even remodeled and the host is an older guy that doesn’t ever say anything, walks you to a table, throws the menus on it, and walks away. Then he stands by the register and stares at his guests while they eat. He looks harmless and is probably a nice guy(if he spoke), but it’s a little uncomfortable. Anyway, if you’re in the area, this is a must stop on the way to Woodstock Harley Davidson!

The food is awesome and really quick. Almost all of the servers are excellent. Since the food is so quick, if you want something extra, you might need to wave your server down but that pretty normal in my opinion. They bring you water right away and they keep your coffee or drinks filled pretty well. I’ve only had a few times that ive had to wait a bit but if they are really busy, the busser goes around to fill everyone up. I definitely recommend trying their homemade bread/toast. If you like skillets, you won’t be disappointed.

Their fresh baked rolls earn the 5 stars by themselves. Not just plain rolls but a nice selection.

This is your typical small town breakfast place! The food is absolutely amazing! They have the best skillets in town. My server was extremely helpful and knowledgable of the menu this made ordering a breeze. The food also was served in a timely manner we barely had to wait. I will defiantly be coming back!

It’s you’re average breakfast joint. The building and furniture is outdated. The food was average. I had two eggs with ham off the bone. They gave mostly the fatty cuts of ham. The hash browns were waaaay under cooked, but their home made wheat bread dunked in over easy yolk was delicious and was their saving grace.

Food quality was very low, and they were out of almost everything. Waitress was rude, made it very clear she did not want to be working.

Shortly after we visited they repaired the parking lot. I’ll just go ahead and assume it’s because I said something! :)

Decent food, horrible service. Called there to make sure the place was still open and was told they were open for a kn other 1 ½ hrs. Got there in 10 mins and was told very rudely by the owner that they were closed even though the place had like 10 tablesnbeing served. The owner wouldn’t even get off the phone and speak with me he said that if I didn’t like it then he doesn’t need my business any more. So good I will not be going back there ever.

I’ve always loved Papa G’s. Their food is consistently good. The daily specials change so much that you can’t keep up. Today I’m having the country fried steak. Absolutely fantastic. The food is a great value. The waitresses are always a lot of fun. After a few times they will recognize you and greet you by name. Their only downfall is I wish they would serve fresh vegetables instead of canned. They could also skip the canned mashed potatoes and go with the real if they took a little extra time. The Decour in the restaurant is fairly old. I’m sure it was charming and it’s day. Ceiling tiles are yellow and stained by water spots. I wish they would give the place as much attention as they do to the customers and the waitresses! We will always be back.

Great breakfast place, open VERY early, prices are great, had a 3 egg breakfast with hash browns, burger patty, and 2 thick pieces house-made rye toast, $ 6.50. Also has full lunch menu.

I am so sad that I moved out of Huntley every time we eat here. I wish they were closer. I would be here once a week, easily! Let me start with saying one very important thing: they make, in house, their very own, potato pancakes. Any place that successfully makes potato pancakes homemade, is at the top of my list. They can be a little greasy, so be prepared or ask them to let them drain a little more. They also have Prime Rib on special on Saturdays and it’s better than some steakhouses I know. Not fatty, and very well flavored. The cooks know how to season their food properly and that is something that can be hard to find. I love the prime rib here. They make their own bread and you get at least two versions in your bread basket. Their white and then a rye or wheat, typically. Pricing is totally reasonable and they really stuff you full of food for your buck. When you walk in, the door reads: «Just good food» and it really is. It’s not fancy, you don’t have to dress up, no reservations required, and certainly no hoity-toity people at the table next to you. They have excellent service and just know how to make good food.
