I’m considering putting together a class action lawsuit against The Village on Sixth for utility overcharges. They are basically con-​artist, that haven’t taken the initiative to insulate their building, or pipes which are located in the roof the buildings (exposed to outdoor climate). So during the winter they mandate that you keep the thermostat at no less than 72 or 75 degree, so that the pipes do freeze and burst. This results in the tenant being charged the cost incurred for running the heater; and since they don’t have a legitimate means of accounting or invoicing for the overages, they can basically charge whatever price they want. Because most of the tenants are young and naïve, they actually get way with this. I’m going to take this issue up with the Housing Authority. Also people are plain nasty here and management does absolutely nothing about it.

My daughter and her friends moved in to the Villages in January of 2016. My husband and I came to visit and we have spent the last 5 days dealing with the office to get them to fix many issues in the apartment. There is no question this management is taking advantage of busy, hard working college students and their money, and their parents’ money. They don’t want to fix anything, will send someone up to do the work and they do nothing, and then complain that the student signed an «as is» contract. What a terrible business style. These people and their ethics and lack of regard for the health and safety of the students who live here is reprehensible. I will be writing to several people and will be asking Marshall University to not allow them to advertise or send flyers onUniversity property. If my daughter had not signed her lease already, we would move her out today.

Read the entire lease! They will lie and trick you into signing. The corporate office allows them to do so. If possible, record the sessions with the office workers. Keep documentation and evidence of EVERYTHING! The office workers do not care about you or anything body else, they just want you money. They will laugh and talk about you behind your back and complain that you are complaining about the apartment. I even seen and heard them talking about a few people behind their backs.
