I was a walk-in on a Saturday morning, and was fortunate enough to be able to get a cut right away. I appreciated the high quality of treatment and enjoyed the experience and the way my hair looks. I would definitely recommend this salon.

Based on the previous review, I decided to give Runway a shot. That was a mistake. The girl who cut my hair made it obvious she had a hot date, an appointment with her probation officer, or some other priority she had to get to – my hair was not her priority. She needed me in and out asap, and had no time to make any conversation what-so-ever. I felt like a piece of machinery on an assembly line. My hair is short, and I wanted it a little shorter – wispy, layered. She grabbed a razor thingy and proceeded to razor my hair into the shape of a bowl. In less than 30 minutes, and without actually cutting – with scissors– a single strand of hair, she managed to turn me into the living image of Moe from the Three Stooges. That was about three weeks ago, and I have one really bad hair day after another ever since. The kicker is when my hair is wet… you can see just how shapeless, uneven, and top heavy she left my hair. My question is why did I leave her a $ 10 tip, all the while knowing I hated the razor job? I’ll never go back. Hope your experience is better.

I want to start by saying that I am a very picky customer. Since I’m not from Huntington, I didn’t really know where to start my search for the perfect hair salon. I got tips from random strangers(and google), which led me to Runway Salon. Even though the place didn’t have any reviews online, I liked the website and the pictures of the salon(okay, so I judged the book by it’s cover). The next step was calling the receptionist to get a feel for her attitude. She was straightforward, friendly, and understood why I was so concerned about finding that perfect hairdresser. You see, I’m not from WV. I don’t have fine, blond, straight hair. My hair is dark, long, thick, coarse, frizzy, temperamental, but luscious when properly maintained. I begged her to schedule me with someone that was comfortable using round brushes(as flat brushes only ruin my volume). That’s how I got in Julie’s chair. For the first time doing my hair, she did a fantastic job. Then again, I like to think I was specific as to what I did and did not want. She actually grasped the big picture fairly quickly – I want my ends to be clean and not dry. I appreciated her candid remarks that conditioning my ends would only do so much – my hair needs constant trimming. She also took her time cutting. My hair, long as it gets, always takes under an hour with my stylist back home, but I am not complaining. I preferred that she went slowly and methodically when cutting and drying my hair for this first time. Smart girl – I think she was prepared for a picky client. So if you are still reading this long, long review, you are probably wondering why I gave the Julie a 4⁄5. She’s great, but there’s always room for improvement. My hair was a little flatter on top than I would have liked and my waves could have been further maximized. I discussed my concerns with her and I believe next time she will get the 5⁄5. As for the actual salon, it’s very well maintained and stylish. They have a Keurig that sits in the waiting area that is open for guest usage(score!). I just wish they had someone on staff that could thread eyebrows(why isn’t there an eyebrow threader in town?!). Ladies of the Runway Salon, I’ll see you in 6 weeks for my trim.
