Service was excellent, our waiter Brian could not have been more attentive and he was very good with the children at the table. We really enjoyed the Chicken Matteo and both pasta dishes we ordered were cooked just right and the marinara sauce was excellent. Great place for a family celebration. We will be back.

Updating my review of 6 months ago. Still a warm family like experience. Wait staff excellent. Since this is family style as soon as someone picked a utensil up to take another portion the staff was there to take the utensil and serve them. Baked clams were whole clams and the garlic sauce was a perfect for dipping the crusty bread. The pasta with vodka sauce and prosciutto was plate liking good. Great place for a birthday celebration as the whole staff comes to your table and sings enthusiastically for you.

Disappointed with the food. Ordered the classic chicken parm and penne alla vodka, baked clams, so the chicken was tough, pasta and clams were salty. I’m still drinking water from it. Also I highly don’t recommend the ceasar salad. The pre-packaged salad kit in the supermarkets are better! The PLUS side the SERVICE! The waitress was sweet. Ended the meal with the oreo zeppoles which were amazing. Thank goodness, if not for those two things, I would have rated the restaurant only 2 stars. Judge for yourself, but all I can say is there are plenty of other Italian restaurants on J.tpke.

Went on Christmas eve for dinner, after being seated, we waited 20 minutes for waiter. Ok Christmas eve, busy… we get that. First thing out of his mouth. «We are really busy, come on give me your order now!!!» We were all speechless. I have never ever been spoken like that at any restaurant. We wanted to start off with drinks which took him another 20 minutes to get to us. Total 40 minutes. Came back again said how busy he was, my wife told him how rude he was, told the person at the front desk we wanted another waiter. Explained why. We ended up getting waited on by one of the managers. He was a great guy, tried to stay on top of things, but just was not up to it. The appetizer had to be sent back twice because it was ice cold. The main course was ok, again half were cold. So the meal was not very good and I was very surprised that no one came over to say they were sorry for what happened. Just a awful experience… I would never go back again.

Matteo’s is still the go to place for family style Italian. A must try. The food: Calamari, fried zucchini. baked clams, fresh mozz, chicken parm, shrimp valencia, and chicken matteo are all outstanding. Desserts(if you have room) Canoli, Napoleon and Oreo zeppoles are all delicious and made fresh daily. The service: Amazing. From the hostess(very sweet and friendly) to the wait staff. We recently had a birthday there and they were so accommodating. Even to the point where they sang happy birthday… they sang their hearts out for us! lol Self and vallet parking is available.

Was here 1 other time a few years ago and remember their Calamari being the best. So of course I had to see if the last time was a good day or is it like I remembered. They did not disappoint me. The calamari was tender, light, fried in clean oil and not greasy. More legs would have made me happier, but other than that quite pleased. Other dishes ordered included Stuffed Artichoke as another appetizer, Grilled Chicken Paillard, Chicken Matteo’s, Matteo’s Famous Meatballs & Sausage with Penne, and Chilean Sea Bass on a bed of Spinach. I only tried the breadcrumb stuffing from the stuffed artichoke and thought it was too mushy and bland. Those who ate it however said the artichoke leaf was ok, better than the stuffing. My favorite dish of the night was the Chilean Sea Bass. The fish was light and tasty and cooked perfectly. The spinach was tasty as well and I’m sure it was all due to the fantastic sauce they used to top off this dish. I loved the sauce so much that I ended up dipping the chicken & sausage from Chicken Matteo’s in it as well. Matteo’s meatballs and sausage were good, although really hard for an Italian place to go drastically wrong here. Staff was very friendly and service was decent. My only complaint was that they took the Calamari plate away without asking first and there were 2 little pieces of calamari left that I would have grabbed if they asked. We were celebrating my nephew’s birthday and the staff did a great job of singing Happy Birthday. There were quite a few celebrations going on this night and I will say the staff appeared to enjoy singing the celebratory songs!

Had a private party here for fourteen this past week. The entire event went seamlessly! From the planning, to our welcome, to the beautiful room, to the flawless service(not an empty wineglass, nor dirty dish to be found) to the wonderful food, to our host, Jamie who treated us as if we had been there 100 times before. I recommend this for private parties, you will only have to show up, noting more is required. By the way, the food was very well prepared and presented, and enough to bring home 2 shopping bags of leftovers. Just want to mention that we had 2 people who could not make it at the last minute, and we didn’t even have to mention this. When the bill came, we were only charged for those that had the pleasure to be there. My husband forgot his quite expensive camera under the table, and our waiter literally tracked down a couple of our guests in the bar, and had them call us. AAA+ Highly recommended

After moving away for 2 yrs, decided to visit to delight in the zucchini pasta… this Unilocaler went to indulge after holiday shopping only to be ushered in to a rushed evening without any savoring results. So let’s talk about being served by an inexperienced staff, long wait for the main entrée and overall disjointed service — e.g., drinks ordered, didn’t receive for more than 10 minutes later, how does a restaurant mess with a standard martini! no bread nor water served. Salad arrived quickly and the main entrée was way too long of a wait for the long anticipated signature dish, only to be grandly disappointed by an undercooked zucchini! — bah humbug. When I raised my concerns I was told there was new ownership or was it new management, stories changed throughout the evening. At any rate, the salmon was charged as a «special» — grilled fish is a special? and charged at a cost far exceeding the other fish on the menu. I say, sayonara to Matteo’s — get your ownership or management act together. bye — bye

We have eaten at Matteos in Long Beach and enjoyed it. So when we found there was a Matteos in Huntington, it was a no brainer, we booked it months before for our September rehersal dinnner. All I can say is I am so happy we ate lunch there before giving my deposit in August. The food was horrible. The eggplant tasted sour. The chicken was tasteless. It was so bad that weeks before the dinner we ran around to find another restaurant that could hold a party of 40 people. Matteos has good service but terrible food.

Food was great. The staff is a little disorderly, from the hostess, to the waiters, to the food runners, and the manager but the food actually came out fast despite being packed.

Where do I begin? Lets start off by saying that my first experience at a Matteos ever was the one in Roslyn. Went with a couple of girls, had a great experience, great italian food and great service all accompanied by a nice environment full of pictures to greet you, and of course Remy. The other night, when I was in the area to celebrate my best friends on their wedding venue and set date, me and my boyfriend decided to take them out for dinner, and what better place(too little did I know) then to take them to Matteos in Huntington. We are sat by a young gentleman who looks to be the manager and followed by an un-enthusiastic greeting from a young guy who ends up to be our waitor. NEVER did he ever say, «Hi guys, how you doing tonight my name is so and so.» He immediatley asked us what he could get us to drink and seemed upset to be sat so late in the night… it was 820 when we sat! I wish I could tell you I know his name, but he never felt the need to mention it the three times he did come by; unhappy he had to stop watching the Knicks game at the bar with his fellow employees and manager. Can I also just state like I did earlier, it was only somewhere around 8, figuring the place closes at 10, and the manger had already untucked his button up shirt, order platers of food at the bar, and sat to watch the game with the guys. Not once did he swing by and ask if our meals were ok, not once did he turn around and check to see all tables were fine from a distance. After we finish our meal, which by the way is always good and consisted(3 glasses of wine and a Heineken for drinks. appetizers: baked clams, calamari and tomato mozzarella. dinner: family style penne ala vodka and grilled chicken scarpiello) we decided to get desert. 2 cappuccinos, 1 espresso and 1 pistachio tartufo to share. However, during this time while are dinner plates were still being cleaned off, we experienced our last straw of the service and determined we would never go back… the bus boy, as he was cleaning our plates off, decided it was a proper time to be on his cell phone. Not only did he come back once for the plates while on the phone, but twice, not thinking something like that might be unprofessional. I WONDERWHERETHEMANAGERWASFORALLTHIS… GOKNICKS!) I think if the main VP and owners saw the way this restaurant was being run, they would fire EVERYONE that worked there ONTHESPOT just like I would do… and for the record, never have i been so angry to write I review on anything in my life until this experience, coming from me, a waitress at a steakhouse in the area.

We went here for Father’s Day dinner, and let me say that the restaurant seating area was nearly empty, though the bar appeared to be bustling. There was a musician playing by the bar near the front door and it was TOO loud. My sister had to shout to the host about our reservations. The person who showed us to our table was also dressed in a regular polo shirt – at first, my sister and I thought it was some random guy touching her shoulder. He probably wouldn’t have had to touch her at all if it wasn’t for the music blasting next to us. The waiter was great and super nice, but the food service was absolutely, painstakingly slow. The grilled calamari was nice, but everything else was only mediocre. I’ve had better from other Italian family-style restaurants.

I actually enjoy the atmosphere here, it feels a bit like you are on the set of the Sopranos, everyone kissing each other hello, wearing dark suits and sunglasses and a touch of velour track suits too. Food is overall good with some nice specials. What makes this place even more the interesting for me is the mix of crowd that it draws, you’ll be sitting next to a classic«Syosset» group and then Lindsay Lohan will come in with a entourage… Strange but cool place.

My parents love this place for some reason. The food is okay but very heavy & oily. They have flat screen TVs all over the place which I find very tacky and my dad was fixated watching a baseball game. One of the waiters was chewing gum all night which is also very tacky. The only saving grace is that the majority of the staff is hot.

The only good thing about Matteo’s is that it can accommodate large groups. We used to have big family dinners here but then realized the food wasn’t that good. There’s definitely better Italian in the area!
