WOW the Gyros are great. I’m not a big fan of he sauce they use so I get it on the side. The meat is juice, tender and spiced well. I’ve had them several times and it never disappoints. I would recommend for a change from the sandwich routine. The donuts are good also!

As a lifelong local, I can tell you that it doesn’t get any better than Jolly Pirate when it come to donuts! I consider myself somewhat of a donut connoisseur(they are truly my greatest weakness); I’ve tried donuts from a LOT of places, from locally to as far as Outer Banks, NC, & Jolly Pirate’s are still the absolute best in my opinion. Yes, I love Krispy Kreme, but only directly from the store when the HOT sign is on; otherwise they taste like a grocery store donut. I’m also a big fan of Dunkin Donuts, as well as Duck Donuts in the Outer Banks(hot made-to-order donuts are pretty darn amazing!), but I still make a beeline for JP when I’m craving donuts because they’re the only ones that truly satisfy. Chocolate-covered cream-filled is my favorite(their cream filling is HEAVENLY), while their«tractor tires» & maple-covered cream-filled Long John’s topped w/chopped nuts are VERY close 2nd&3rd placers. And their donut holes are the only ones I truly like(even over Tim Horton’s Timbits) because they’re made from their light & airy glazed donuts rather than dry cake donuts. Oh, & though it may seem strange considering they’re a donut shop, they have really good gyros, too! And yes they’re authentic; the owner is Greek & makes a lot of the gyros & pastries for the renown local annual Greek Festival, so you KNOW they’re good!

Husband loves these donuts. Every time we come back to West Virginia, he stops and gets a dozen.

Donuts and Greek food? No I haven’t died and received my just desserts, this is a real place, in Huntington West Virginia, no less. I suspect that Jolly Pirate was once a donut chain – but you’d be surprised at how the few remaining restaurants of former chains can be pretty good. Triple X in Lafayette, Indiana comes to mind. But I digress… I had the chicken gyro here and it was pretty good. The chicken wasn’t fatty, the tzadziki was tangy, and the pita was fresh and chewy. I also had a dolma(meat and rice wrapped in grape leaves) and it was on point, too. While the baklava looked homemade(and will be tried should I go back), I had to go for the donuts. I had the pumpkin(cake) donut and the raspberry jelly donut. Both were spot on. Not too oily, lots of pumpkin and raspberry flavor, respectively, and well cooked inside. So I went back for a peanut donut. Though my waistline doesn’t thank me, my tastebuds do… Also very crisp with lots of flavor. Though I’m going to have to run 2x as far every day, I’ll be back…

Just had their raspberry jelly filled doughnut and wow was is phenomenal. soft fluffy doughnut with sweet but not too sweet raspberry jam inside. The slight tartness of the jam tells me that this is REAL raspberry jam inside and not some cloyingly sweet filling that came from a can. I am truly impressed and can’t wait to have their gyros. The staff was super friendly too!

My husband and I are traveling home to Illinois and stopped to find something to eat. We saw the sign for donuts and gyros and decided to give it a shot. Ordered a plain gyro, his with everything, and a greek salad. Salad was ok. For me it had to many onions and peppers but my husband didn’t mind. Now the gyros. I thought they were great. It wasn’t greasy, it had a nice flavor, and the bread to meat ratio was perfect. The donuts smelled amazing but we decided to skip those. If we travel this way again we would definitely eat here. Forgot to mention that the service was fast and friendly!

I’ve been dozens of times over the years and have never had an exceptional donut. They are always stale. I’m really surprised that they have no local competition.

I wish I could savor this gyro more. I have something wrong with my jaw that prohibits me chewing on my left teeth. The pita bread issue doesn’t seem as bad. Their fries are very good but not as good as other gyro places with good reason: THISIS A DONUTSHOP?!? I got indoctrinated to the world of gyros by the International Market that was a stones throw from this place. I miss that place so. I still feel their gyros are the standard that I’ve measured all against. A morbidly obese gentleman walks in. I hold my breath as he orders. 2 dozen donuts. I let go a sigh. I’m glad to know eating gyros won’t directly attribute me looking like that tub of goo. I do admire his hair. Maybe I should start eating more donuts for prettier hair. Nah. I’m skinny and hairy enough.

I stopped in today for the first time. There were tons of donuts to choose from and I wanted to try the Greek food side as well. I felt pretty rushed to place my order by the guy working the front even though we were the only ones in line. I had explained to him that it was my first time there so that was kind of annoying. The food, however, was surprisingly awesome. I ordered a gyro and the Greek fries. The tzatziki was pretty awesome but I agree with another reviewer, it was kind of sour creamy. I’d eat this for lunch over Pita Pit any day.

Super cute donut shop. Try the crème-filled powdered donut or the apple fritter w/a cup of coffee.

SO weird. This place has gyros in the back. I was craving anything besides burgers, hotdogs & wings(you know the average WV cuisine) so we checked this place out. Donuts in the front, and a full on gyro making station in the back. The lady who worked made me an incredible gyro. Our meal game with a gyro, fries, a donut and a drink. An incredible deal. The tzaziki sauce tasted a little more like sourcream than it did yogurt, but I didn’t mind. We sat there and watched the lady make everything from scratch. This lady needs to be paid more. Make sure you tip the staff if you order a meal from the back, they deserve it!

Pretty good. A nice quiet local hangout where you can grab some good donuts and coffee. This is not a high-end fancy café, but really a chillax local hangout. I wouldn’t drive any significant distance to go here, but if you live in the East Huntington/Pea Ridge area, this is a good place to hit up. Also oddly enough they also serve gyros and pita, but I haven’t tried them so I cannot comment.
