I only had the ravioli. I love ravioli. It’s one of my all time favorite foods. What I got at Jim’s was the worse I ever had. It was mushier and had less taste than Chef Boyardi from a can. I don’t know how they could serve the stuff. I don’t get it.

Maybe I went in here with too high of expectations… For starters, the service here is top notch, that’s how they receive three stars. Now for the bad… the steaks aren’t very good. No flavoring, and they’re advertised as grilled, but I’m pretty sure they are baked. Also, no baked potatoes. A steakhouse without the option of a baked potato on the side? What?!? The nostalgia is cool, and I’m sure the place hasn’t changed much, but the nostalgia should end with only accepting cash or check. Not many people carry cash or checks anymore these days. I can say I tried the iconic Jim’s Steak & Spaghetti, but I doubt I’ll make it a point to return.

Best place in HTown! If you are visiting Huntington you have to make a stop at Jim’s! Spaghetti, slaw, & chocolate or coconut cream pie = amaze! Also, try the fish sandwich and the burger!

It’s simple, straight forward food made with care. I always enjoy coming to Jim’s for the atmosphere, the excellent wait staff, and the consistency in the food.

Jim’s is part of Huntington history. Honestly, the food is mediocre, but most people go for the nostalgic feel of the place. It is just like a 50’s-60’s diner. The servers are even dressed to period. Your best bet is the spaghetti as it is their namesake, but it will need some love with cheese, salt and pepper. They only accept cash which rubs some people the wrong way. It is worth it if you like the history of it.

I gave this place a try after I saw their Haddock Sandwich get promoted on the Food Networks, «Southern Fried Road trips.» Had to get the Haddock, which had great home made tarter sauce on the side. I was a little disappointed my server didn’t give me a bun with it. Didn’t think it was something I had to ask for when I ordered a sandwich. I used a roll that came with it as the bun. I did enjoy the ambience of this place. A great old diner where the servers wear pretty much the same uniforms as they did when this place was founded in the 1930’s. Had a great conversation with the manager & owner, and the staff also made me feel welcomed. Loved looking at the articles on the wall and knowing JFK ate here. What I really like is this place draws a neat diverse crowd. From wealthy & educated, to the hobos in the area, this place is a neighborhood favorite.

Jim’s is a historic restaurant in Huntington and means a lot to many people who grew up here. My grandparents met at Jim’s in 1932 and the owners have talked with them at dinner ever since. That basically sums up how intertwined and caring they are for the community. With that in mind, I’m still going to give a completely unbiased review. The staff is super friendly and attentive and the owners will say hi to every customer that walks in. My favorites are the fish sandwich, the spaghetti with house meat sauce, their finely diced cole-slaw(it’s perfect, best I’ve ever had) and the coconut cream pie. About the pies, if you’re a Marshall student you get a free slice, but also some of my friends have asked for pie who don’t attend MU and still got a free slice by saying they did, so if you could pass for a college student you can pretty much get free desert. The atmosphere is pretty quiet and comfortable and I dig the 1920s style dinner feel. It would be a great place for lunch between classes or homework, but sadly no wifi. The only antiquated thing about Jim’s that I don’t care for is that they only accept cash or check for payment. There is an atm at the front, but it’s still inconvenient when you’d rather give the server a larger tip instead of paying an atm fee. Definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting from out of town or attending Marshall. They are accommodating when it comes to preparing things for vegetarian customers, but vegan is difficult as they don’t have a dedicated grill and many things contain cheese. But all in all, American Classic at it’s finest, and if you’re in your 20s and free pie is your thing, then this place is a must!

Good spaghetti and heat rolls. A Huntington staple that I finally got to try. Small and quaint. The staff is fantastic and made our meal a lot of fun. Don’t forget the pie!

I’m kind of a nostalgic guy. There are a lot of restaurants that play on nostalgia, they design themselves to be retro– e.g., speakeasy type bars, resurrecting famous names, etc. If it’s done right, it’s great, but often it isn’t. In any event, this restaurant doesn’t attempt nostalgia, it simply hasn’t changed. I haven’t seen a place like this since I was a very young child. The food is all very basic. Steak an potatoes, boiled vegetables, and spaghetti with meat sauce that resembles Cincinnati chili. The steaks are thinly sliced – as most people’s were before we became decadent and decided that we all had to eat steaks like we’re Texans. Of course they have pies, too. I had the Boston crème, and it was pretty good. Well, as good as Boston crème gets. All the food was good. If you like seasoning(other than S&P) this isn’t the place for you. If you like American food from the 40’s, this is the place. The waitresses wear white uniforms and the owner will come talk to you. Cash only, but discounts for Marshall students.

After many, many years away from Huntington, I had lunch at Jim’s this past weekend. Some things never change, and Jim’s is one of them. We sat in the booth where JFK sat when he visited Huntington during his 1960 Presidential campaign. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce, with a side of coleslaw and a cup of coffee, and it was just as I remembered it. I suspect the sauce is not very Italian, but it is vintage 1950s-1970s Huntington, and I love it! But beware: they didn’t take credit or debit cards back in the day, and they don’t now. Cash or check only, please! For a literary reference to this place, see Glenn Taylor’s fine novel, «The Ballad of Trenchmouth Taggart»(no relation).

I love Jim’s Spaghetti and I am not alone. It is a local staple. If you are looking for a great casual lunch or dinner, Jim’s is the place. They have the old time counter diner service as well as table seating. The waitresses wear white uniforms and in spite of being in a building that is probably pushing 100, the place is as clean as a pin. It looks like you stepped back in time to a diner from the 60s. The spaghetti is very distinct and I love their cheeseburgers.(They are on grilled bread) It is worth noting, that the last time I was there, they did not accept credit cards and they were closed on Sunday and Monday. Old school.

A step back into time. Old uniforms, seating, and décor. The spaghetti is definitely the star of the show here! The thousand island dressing is homemade and worth every single cent. So yummy! While the food is your standard«homemade comfort», the service is far from it! The owners are very particular about all members of a party being present before seating and paying with cash for your meal.

A Huntington ICON. I grew up on Jim’s spaghetti. I was there while visiting Huntington a few week ago for the 1st time in about 8 years. The spaghetti, cole slaw, and coconut cream pie haven’t changed, and aside from a few modern tweaks the restaurant looks the same as it did when JFK visited. The only thing missing was the ever charming duo that were the owners Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tweel, however, those days are long gone. The Tweel legacies have kept up the food standards in a fine manner, but the warm greeting offered to every customer in a manner even close to that of Mr. Tweel, and service with a smile from the staff are no longer(at least when I visited). I was a little disappointed in that, but the current generation has a lot to live up to. LONGLIVEJIM’S!

I love Jim’s. It’s served Huntington for so long and has never needed to change one single thing. Everything they offer is delicious. The wait staff is super friendly, the owners are the sweetest, and the crowd there represents the best of Huntington. When you’re done with dinner you order a piece of pie. And if you’re there when they’re serving Strawberry Pie, you. order. the. strawberry. pie.

Best spaghetti in town! It’s a step back in time, very 50’s and 60’s feel inside. Service is fantastic. Always feel welcome and appreciated. Waitresses have clean white uniforms. You enter and are greeted by the owner. You sit down to a wonderful meal. Had spaghetti and steak, both are fantastic. Cocunut cream pie is wonderfull too. Love this place so much, when I moved here I was told to try it and boy did it NOT disappoint. Don’t understand the haters. Don’t know good food I guess. I would recommend this place to ANYONE. A must try local gem!

I don’t understand why people are infatuated with this place — but then again I am not a nostalgic person. Our server once warned us from certain dishes because they came pre-prepared. So we stuck with the namesake and go the spaghetti. It is unseasoned, boring spaghetti. I’m all about taking pride in one’s food — and I think they could have an excellent base but it really needs something — anything to make it work. The servers wear aprons that make them look like nurses. This provides a good metaphor, because it really reminds me of hospital food. Lastly, they take only cash which discourages people under 50 from eating there. Unless they change this, I don’t see them being around after their customer base dies off.

I admit it, I was a doubter. But Jim’s Steak and Spaghetti House won me over with it’s delicious sweet spaghetti sauce. I was in Huntington for a work trip and everyone said I had to eat at Jim’s. It’s a Huntington institution… and deservedly so. The menu is simple: spaghetti, ravioli, and basic meat entrees with a couple sides, but the prices are great and the sauce is delicious. And don’t forget to try the pie! It may not be one of the absolute best meals I ever had, but the ambiance is charming and sometimes a yummy plate of spaghetti is what you want. Jim’s is one of those places you can only find in a small town and here’s to another successful 70 years!

I was born in Huntington and grew up eating here. The spaghetti sauce has such a unique flavor, almost reminds me a little bit of a chili flavor. I can’t describe it, except to say it doesn’t taste like you would picture real Italian spaghetti sauce tastes. With that said, I absolutely love it. It’s just different. Every time we go there to visit family(which is once every couple-few years), we bring coolers to cart a bunch home. They sell frozen quarts and they travel pretty well. MMMMMMM… yummy!

Historic Huntington restaurant with amazing food(especially deserts). US Presidents ate here, Actor/Actresses at here, and you can too. The stories that the walls can tell here are amazing. The spaghetti is very good(get it with the meat sauce), but deserts are the surprise here. Banana crème pie, apple pie, and keeps going on and on. Must stop here when you are in Huntington.
