I just don’t get the ratings on this place. Is the ambiance completely lacking? Yes. Yes it is. It’s a takeout bagel place, and the bagels are almost always amazing. I cater with them multiple times a year for parties, and have never had a problem with them. Everyone always comments on how great the various bagels are, the cream cheese, etc. So 4 years later, I’m sticking with my original review — if the bagel is the thing — not the service, not the symmetry of the cut, not the ambiance of this hole-in-the-wall — if what you want is the best damn bagels on the Island, let alone Huntington this is where you need to get them. Period.

Well… I really liked this bagel place. Their bagels are far better than the local Huntington place. Until today. Keep in mind I’ve been there 3 days in a row and ordered the same thing — 1 scrambled egg and bacon on an et flat bagel. I had a really sweet girl ring me up the last 2 days. It came to about $ 3.50 maybe a little under — both times. Today, the owner(the older guy who wears sunglasses inside?) served me and I was charged $ 6 for the exact same thing!!! $ 6 for an egg sandwich?! Never again.

Sorely disappointed. One employee behind the counter at 10am on a Saturday with a line five customers deep. .50 $ extra charge for using a credit card. «Multigrain» bagel is supposed to have sunflower seeds on it; mine is burnt with 4 seeds total. Bagel is cut off center and not all the way through. This is the type of bagel you expect at Dunkin Donuts, not at a dedicated bagel shop.

The customer service is so bad it makes me sad. It’s almost like the owner does not want you to have what you ordered. The first time I went there they said they couldn’t toast my bagel because it was past 12pm(!!!) What?!

Unfriendly service, bad bagels, and incorrect pricing on the menu. Recently I saw new signs out front advertising new bagel specials, but I was treated poorly the last time I was there so I will not return.

Why all the hate? It’s a damn bagel shop in New York. Get your bagels and get the hell out. Food wise this place is incredible. Great bagels(the everythings and strawberry were insane) and the have a huge cream cheese selection. I loved the damn place when I worked out in Huntington. I guess some people are just way to picky.

Bagels are amazing! The other critical reviews about service have no merit. I have been back to this establishment many times and never had any issue with cleanliness of the friendly staff. Personal issues with smoking should not effect a rating.

The customer service is awful, the bagels have no flavor, and the place does not look clean. I don’t think I will be back anytime soon.

So I pass this place on my way to the train and very rarely go in because frankly there bagels taste a little off compared to other bagel shops around.(pumped with chemicals maybe?) Plus the guy that owns or runs it is super shady. I went in here quickly for a bagel because I need something to eat on the train because I was eating a late lunch. My bill totally came to $ 4.00 while I had cash which I needed for my train ticket I passed the guy my credit card. Oh no we can’t charge $ 4.00 to a credit card when clearly labeled on the door you accept credit cards. He said its a 10.00 minimum– ok I can deal with that. But when the women next to me was able to charge $ 5.00 to her credit card I asked why he said something about .50 blah blah blah and started to get nasty. I said I won’t be coming back here and before I could say something more along the lines of because your poor communication, the sloppy man at the counter said good we don’t need your business. Way to put the customer first and nicely explain things. How can his boss or the guy running the place stand right there and let this guy be rude to a customer he just lost. I would have gladly bought a dollar more worth of stuff to meet the«accepted» $ 5.00 but he didn’t even offer. I then had to go to the bank to get my train money back.(My transit check requires half cash otherwise I would charge my train ticket) Another stop I didn’t want to make. Overall his bagels taste bad, poor cleanness of employees and the store and poor customer service. I gladly won’t be going back. Next time I’ll leave my house 5 mins early and go to the bagel store in northport on 25a that always is friendly and has good bagels. I’d rather drive out of my way then come back here. They should just stick to their back of house business which I swear is selling crack…

Unless you don’t know what a bagel is or forgot what a bagel is, you have no reason to come here. I’ve had better bagels at Panera and Dunkin Donuts. These are a poor excuse for bagels(or bread). They are flavorless and down right awful. I’d give it zero stars, but too bad I can’t.

Every time I go I get the same thing, and every time the price is different. The old man at the counter is simply gross– he smokes and doesn’t wash his hands afterwards. And he has no teeth– literally. Put your teeth in sir, it is so unappetizing to look at your gums.

I grew up a bagel lover in the NYC area, moved away at 20, returned at 35 and came back to find Pretty much all the bagel shops producing puffy hockey pucks with seeds on them. They are not bad in their own right, but they are NOT a traditional bagel. This Place is the only one around I know of(in huntington) that still makes a good traditional style bagel, and it is so different that I think everyone should try it out for comparison. If you prefer the new style puffy hockeypuck, that is your choice, but you must know that they are not what a bagel used to be. 5 stars for Cup O Joe for resisting the urge to sacrifice the true bagel to make a buck. I never go to a bagel shop for anything but a bagel. I agree with other reviewers, not impressive décor, and not a great deli, but to appreciate the bagel tradition this place is a must, dont let a grumpy counter person dissuade you.

This place is disgusting. I used to work a block away so only went here out of convenience. Turn around and walk out if the old man is taking your order, he goes outside smokes comes back in and doesn’t wash then touches all the food without gloves.

its not pretty. its not fancy… but for«to go» items, the bagels are really tasty. Great breakfast sandwitches at reasonable prices. Cream cheese spreads are nice too. Again, its nothing much too look at, but the staff is polite and the bagels are good.

Ok so the bagels are decent enough but something about this place irks me to no end, their prices are always fluctuating and nothing is clearly spelled out as to what the cost is! It’s not a money issue either but here’s a clear example of what happened the other day… There’s a sign in the window in bold vinyl print«Bagel w/flavored Cream Cheese and small coffee or tea 2.99″ I order a poppy bagel with lox spread and a small tea… „that’ll be $ 4.50 please“ Ummmm The sign says 2.99?» Yeah the owner never took down the stickers in the window and we can’t honor that” «Oh ok here’s $ 4.50 and I’m never coming back» Again it’s not a money issue but this has happened here on at least 3 – 4 other occasions and it’s become annoying. It would cost the owner about 5 dollars for a glass scraper and someone about 10 minutes in time to remove all the erroneous signs… Just an idea.
