Tacos El Gavilan

Great food at a good price! I had a sopes with adobada and juevos con chorizo. The masa was very good and the meat was flavorful. The warm flour tortillas were definitely home made! The place is very clean and the staff is nice and accommodating. A must try for sure!

Place is overrated!!! Meat is bland or too salty.
I don’t recommend families to go after 8 or 9 at night. That’s when all the hookers and drunk people go. Mostly teens who think they are adults or adults who think it’s cool to be intoxicated in public. Not the cleanest.
Any taco truck might be better. I don’t know why get are opening more locations. People don’t know any better.
Food was better years ago. Even the owner would be on social websites to connect with customers. Don’t see that anymore.

This place is amazing! I always come here all the time and not once have I ever been disappointed in any way shape or form. Meat is so perfectly cooked and ingredients are always fresh! I have come here for lunch time when it’s super busy and still got perfect service! Staff is super friendly and place is always clean. Guacamole is 99¢ more but it is so worth it, it’s amazing! The horchata is so good I’ll crave it randomly throughout my days. If you’re in the area or even far, I most definitely recommend you stopping by

Bomb food!!! Love it here! I will never get tired of it I recommend the sopes, burritos make sure to get the bean!

Came here with co workers the other day and i gotta say, i wasn’t really impressed. I only had a taco and it was just ok. As for the horchata, it didn’t taste like an all natural agua fresca, more like those artificial packets that they sell at El Super.

ok ok!!! I defenately recommend this place, especially for a late night hunger! You know after a night out drinking at a club or after a concert like we did.
I had 3 Carne asada tacos and 2 al pastor and I have to say they were mighty delicious! The meat is marinated perfectly and they serve a great portion, enough to make two tacos out of one… that’s a plus!!! There is a great selection of ingredients to add into your tacos like, onions, lemons, silandro beans and different kinds of salsas to spice up your meal.
It is opened weekdays until 1 a. m and the weekends until 4 a. m
So now you if you ever looking to grab a late night bite and you are around here don’t be shy and stop.

My gal took me here for dinner the other day, as I was craving authentic Mexican soft tacos! Let me just say, this place did not disappoint! My cravings were satisfied completely! The al pastor was delicious, as was the carne asada (all fresh, and perfectly cooked)…
The restaurant is very clean, brightly lit, and the staff were friendly! Our order was made fairly quickly (maybe they saw the hungry look in my eyes lol), and they had all the sides you could ask for: sliced lime, chile, salsa, chopped onion mixed with fresh cilantro, and beans too! (Bonus)
All in all I was very pleased and will be coming back often!

Update ¹⁰⁄₂₀₁₅ I don’t really go to this location as much as the other one way down Florence by Atlantic but the food is still 5stars with fast friendly accurate service!
Old Review.03/10/2013 Let me start of with the con’s of this place (as there are only a few) first off would for sure have to be the Horchata, simply put over hyped. It got me to finally go after always walking by it on my way to Panda Express or El Super & reading the reviews but I’m not sure what places they are comparing Horchata’s with but this one isn’t great (it’s still good but more creamy/​milky of a taste rather then the normal slight creamy taste from the rice with a stronger sweet cinnamon) even Juan pollo has better Horchata then this place so don’t only go just for the drink and that being said brings me to my 2^nd and final con; $ 1 refills! Horrible for a place that you want to sit and eat and try the other drinks. I ofcorse got Jamicia first because it’s my fav but it wasn’t as sweet as I am used too but it was good, $ 1 later I got the Horchata after being dissatisfied I stole a refill of coke on my way out, to get get the bad taste of my wasted $ 1 out of my mouth after dropping $ 9 for a burrito & drink…
Now to the good stuff! The food! :-)
The plate of Al Pastor is THE BEST! I know I got a burrito de asada the first time but I couldn’t pass up how good the Al Pastor looked so my wife and I got a plate each and since then go regularly fo it

DELISH! One taco makes two– that’s how much meat they add! I love that they offer unlimited «frijoles de la olla» along with their yummy chiles and salsas. Their aqua Frescas are amazing, always very clean. Has security through out the night right outside, well lit at night

Always pleasant to have. It’s open very late too. On the weekends and Friday nights there are always party goers coming here but on the plus side, they have security so you’re safe if anything goes down. Never had a bad experience.

Okay, so this is a taco food chain. It’s not going to be the best tasting ones either. I think that they are pretty decent though. I actually much rather eat here than king taco. I have tasted both chains but in my opinion I think Gavilan tacos are much better. Well my overall rating is that everything here is OK & I do come every once in a while to get me a bite. Plus they have lemons, beans, and so on which I get every time I come here.

The only reason why I’m giving them 2 stars and no 1 is because I recently tried the breakfast and they’re not bad at all!!! But other than that, everything else taste HORRIBLE! Even the aguas frescas!

Stopped by here since the homemade gorditas place nearby was closed for the day.
Design looks like an In-​N-​Out knock off serving instead tacos, burritos, nachos, sopes, and mulitas.
I loved my mulitas, meat and cheese sanwiched between two freshly made tortillas. I also loved the all you can drink agua frescas here — horchata, pina, tamarindo, and jamaica.
There’s a security guard inside which might give you an indication of the level of crime in this area.
I was the only non-​Latino dining here at the time if my visit and was spoken to in Spanish.
Definitely would return again next time I am in Huntington Park.

Best tortas, tacos, and burritos! Love the fact that you get unlimited condiments and 3 kinds of salsas. Definitely way better than King Taco. Wish they had free refills to the aguas but you can’t have it all. Best taco spot in L.A.

This place is gross. Only reason I’ve been here is mostly due to hanging with friends and having late night cravings and being open late night. Only thing that was actually pretty decent were the girls that go here after parties and the quesadillas. Other than that, it is pretty entertaining looking at all the drunk ass people try to keep their shit together & failing. Wouldn’t come here again on my own free will.

These tacos used to be good like back in 2009 i recently tried them again after moving back to hp and the quality has really gone too the trash i was pretty disappointed you ask for a burrito de asada and they give you a bean and rice burrito with a few pieces a meat that by the way is bad nervey fatty meat and it gives you heart burn too

I recommend this place for late night cravings or a quick stop before you are going home. It is opened weekdays until 1 a. m and the weekends until 4 a.m. The restaurants logo is a yellow rooster and in the inside is white and red. It does get packed especially during the weekends, it usually filled with people who are coming from parties, so I recommend the mornings or afternoons.
Every time I go I get a burrito of either lengua or asada. It is filled with beans and rice and it is pretty big in size. I recommend it for an empty stomach because it always gets me full. For drinks I recommend the horchata and jamiaca, the horchata there is especially good. A great place for Mexican food. The mulitas are also good and the tacos, they also have a variety of meats and agua frescas. There is also a salsa bar, so you are able to get from salsa rojo to salsa verde and also limon.
I have been going to this place for about more than a year, so it is recent that I found this place and I have not had any bad experiences so far. The customer service is good, haven’t had any problems. I really enjoy the food and would gladly recommend the food to anyone.

Pretty good taco spot. Came in on a Friday night to grab some tacos. The tacos are served with just meat and they have a condiment/​salsa bar where you can add all your toppings. Very good cheap eats.

Late night hunger strike you? Well… if you’re in the mood for cheap, late night, yummy tacos, you’re in luck. Tacos El Gavilan can fulfill your wildest taco dreams.
Yes…go for their quick and easy tacos (everything you need in a Mexican style taco: asada, al pastor, carnitas, cabeza, all kinds of meats). They have burritos as well as quesadillas. Don’t forget to grab an agua fresca (sp?) to wash down your tacos. Refills are $.50 for medium and $ 1.00 for a large. I ain’t cheap, just don’t care for the hassle of having to see the cashier again and giving him your change for a refill. Just make it free!
All the tacos are delicious (the meats are tender and moist), the free turnip, salsas, etc. are good as well. Everything is equally cheap. You can get yourself a big meal of tacos if need be! Plenty of seating and credit card okay!

The tacos de asada here are delicious! They are not the best in my opinion, but, they certainly are going to satisfy your taste buds. Just for your information, my typical order here will be the asada tacos, top of with their amazing salsa verde, a squeeze or two of lemon, and with horchata (which btw I say it’s better than King Taco’s).
I’ve ordered their torta which was pretty good but I think it’s a bit pricy, in my opinion. And their burritos are good, I actually prefer theirs than King Taco’s, because their meat in my opinion has more flavor, is more tender, and in my experiences, they give you more meat.
Overall, the place is pretty clean, the staff are okay, the food doesn’t take long to be ready, so your stomach won’t be saying «feed me!» but rather saying «thank you» :D.
