I had the chance to meet Ray, the owner. An Irishman that could come from my own family. A very cool guy. They have great happy hour hours…12−7pm. The place was clean, drinks were heavy enough and great prices. They’re also connected to a pizza place that serves great pizza too! I’d highly recommend the Irishman, for an awesome pub experience.

We have gone here several times but the last two visits my beer glass had a dirty water taste to it. Not sure if it was dumb luck or they aren’t cleaning the glasses properly. I can say that the only time in my adult life that I have left an half full beer behind was here. Great spot and nice people…

I had the best time here, this is a bar that I would return over and over. I’ve been here several times and I gotta say Lia is one of the best bartenders I have ever known. She is very attentive and doesn’t ignore her customers, even when she is busy, she will acknowledge you and say hi, no matter how busy the bar is. This place is very lucky to have her as a bartender! And the place is great too!

Disappointed Walked in super hungry with my co-worker and our curiosity peaked given the Unilocal rating. Sadly at 1:20 the kitchen is closed drinks only.

I drove all the way down here to have some Irish grub on St. Patrick’s Day and had to turn around and leave because the kitchen had been and would continue to be primarily closed for renovation until an unknown time. They were serving from a makeshift kitchen, but only had corned beef sandwiches and even at 4pm had already started discouraging orders for that so they could stop serving food all together for the day. Lot’s of sexy people getting drunk though, so that is a major reason to come try again after I confirm the kitchen is back at 100%.

We wound up here after doing some bar hopping and ended up staying for the remainder of the night because of how awesome everything is. The service was amazing and the beer on draft tasted great! I only stress that because the 805 on draft from a different bar that night tasted a little funky but this one was so crisp and full of flavor!

Fun place to grab a beer and watch the occasional tourist do something entertaining. Almost feels like a Boston or Philly bar.

Items ordered: Jameson Caskmates, Jameson Black Barrel Reserve, Jameson, «Dirty Pear»(Wyder’s Pear Cider and Guinness) Great Irish Pub! I originally gave this place four stars, but I upgraded it to five because of Leah, our bartender. She knows her stuff regarding Irish Whiskey which is the reason why we visit this place. The first time we came here we had Jameson Caskmates. We loved it so much we wanted to have it again. This time we also tried the Jameson Black Barrel Reserve and it was great too! After the whiskey I was chatting with her about snakebite drinks and what not, so I ordered a «Dirty Pear» which is a glass with Wyder’s Pear Cider at the bottom, and Guinness floating on top. This is a favorite drink of mine I make at home and it was poured perfectly.

3.5. No big wow factor here. Just a small, neighborhood bar. Not a very good wine selection. Beer choices are decent. For me, these two things are important since I don’t have a lot of experience to know what my mixed drink preferences are. The bar is small, cute. TVs to watch sports. Haven’t tried their food. I like how they count down to st pattie’s day.

This place was fantastic! We wound up here after trying several places where we were not even acknowledged when we walked in. This authentic Irish pub was dark and cozy, warm and romantically small. Friendly service(which is what we Texan-tourists noticed this area is lacking) wonderfully pleasant gentleman who poured our drinks. Cannot wait to return. Thank you, Irish Paul, for the wonderful memories!

This review does not include food as I have yet to eat there. Moved into the area and was looking for a friendly place that wasn’t a zoo. Not too crowded and not a meat market. Ive found my home at The Irishman. Small with numerous TV’s for games and no juke box. Music is provided from an Ipod which is loaded wit classic rock to current songs. I really like the music selection. Every bartender that I have dealt with has been super friendly and nice. After two visits V and Marsha remembered what I drink. A friendly place to enjoy a pint or cocktail

This is my absolute favorite bar in HB, even OC. It is warm and cosy with a perfect local, neighborhood bar vibe — the bar staff are awesome, so friendly and welcoming, and the owner, Ray, is the best bar owner in town — he’s great, very engaged and very enthusiastic about his business — when you head over you’ll know why! The bar has a big following in the area — there’s no other bar like it — the constant stream of locals in the bar throughout the week is credit to this! An event was held recently for Thanksgiving — the first ‘family photo’ was taken — all the regulars turned out, the bar was packed — it was fantastic :) There are loads of events like this through the year — definitely worth checking out! As well as daily Happy Hour, there are theme nights every week too — Monday is a service night — 25% off the bill! And Wednesday is vinyl night — locals take it in turns to play vinyls each week — it’s an awesome night. The bar is a Notre Dame bar — during the season the games show each week, with specials during the game, and when ND score! There are 4 TVs too — with all the NFL games shown, the bar is usually buzzing on Sundays! Thanks to Ray, Tay and the team for always working so hard and making The Irishman the best spot in town :)

Love the Irishman! What a great bar! It’s small but has more of a cozy feel. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming and the crowd is a lot less disgustingly sloppy here than at a lot of the other local bars in huntington. I will always stop in and grab a pint here when I’m in the area.

The Irishman is a warm and inviting bar just off Main St. in downtown HB. If you’re looking for great service, delicious food, festive décor and a chance to relax with friends then your search is over. I’m a fairly new patron but I can honestly say the owner Ray and his amazing staff will make sure you enjoy every minute you’re there. If you walk in a stranger, you’ll walk out a friend. Their courteous nature will make you feel welcomed with every visit. Every bar in HB has its own distinct flavor and feel. You will be instantly addicted to the Irishman the moment you step in the door. If you’re a local, this is a staple. If you’re visiting, this is where you want to go. You will not be disappointed!

The Irishman has several great things going for it. Let me tell you why it’s one of my favorite bars in Down Town Huntington Beach. First and foremost is the excellent service! The bartenders at the Irishman are super friendly and are happy to see you when you come in. They will always make you whatever drink you want and keep the bar nice and clean when you are taken care of. The other great thing is the owner is there almost every time I’ve been in. Ray is a great guy and always makes sure his bar is running great and everyone is happy. You gotta love that pride of ownership. The bar itself is also awesome. The inside feels very comfortable with a fireplace and mantel, a large booth, about 8 high top tables, and a bar that sites about 7. The bar has several large TVs that are always playing sports. You can bank on seeing every big game there! If there is no game on then its surfing videos to really lock in that Huntington Beach vibe :-) The Irishman also has some good food. The menu is limited to only a few things, but it does include a four cheese mace n cheese, a corned beef sandwich, and a beef cottage(shepherd’s) pie that is die for!!! A good shepherds pie is a bitch to make and these guys have it down! I’m talkin sautéed beef with veggies cooked to perfection and then baked with a layer of mashed potatoes covering it. Its under 10 bucks here and tastes great! Its located just a few steps off from main street. This is great since its really easy to find, but does not get crazy packed like some of the other bars in the area. So come on over and check out this hidden gem, I just might see you there.

I’ve been coming here on and off for several years, even since the days of Deville. I had quite the off-putting experience last week. I ended up here with a few friends after going to a couple of other places on Main St. After a visit to the bathroom, grabbing a drink, and saying hi to a few other people, I settled in with the rest of the group. A minute later someone asked to speak to me outside, informed me that some people didn’t want me in the bar and things would ‘happen’ if I remained there. I later was told that his name was Dave or Dan and that he was the head of security. He agreed that I hadn’t done anything wrong or wasn’t acting up, but that I had to go since I wasn’t’ part of the ‘family’. I explained that I was already on my way out but didn’t understand his reasoning. Anyhow, he let me finish my drink outside and we were on my way shortly after. I’m all for ‘family’ and camaraderie, but this came off more as bullying or a scene out of a mafia movie. I get that any place has the right to refuse service, but I didn’t know businesses were run with this kind of discrimination. Just seems un-American to me… but it is an Irish bar? I do appreciate that this is the end of the story and there was no actual incident, so thank you for that. But is this all really worth it?

Rude owner. He went up to my friends and I three times asking us if we’re gonna go order something within a span of 5 mins, when in fact we were just taking our time to decide on what to get. The third time he went up to us he told us that we had to order something and that we can’t just use the bathroom and leave(which we weren’t planning on leaving). After that remark we had to purchase our obligatory drinks for using his bathroom. Left as soon as we were done. Very rude. The other employees were great, I just felt bad that they have to work with that kind of management.

Been here a few times and I love it. The bartenders are so nice and attentive! Love the vibe here away from all the hustle and bustle of main st. It’s totally low key and chill and they play awesome music. I have yet to try their food but heard it’s pretty good!
