I placed an order with this company through an online marketplace, and they never filled it. They represented on their page that items generally shipped in about two weeks, but, after waiting more than four weeks, the company canceled my order and refunded my money. I received a message from the business along with my cancellation telling me that I could go re-​order the same product through the company website, and that it would be ready to ship in one week. Needless to say, I had no interest in waiting yet another week to receive this product, nor did I believe I could trust someone who would do business that way. As a result of the company keeping my order in limbo for a full month, now I don’t have time to purchase a similar item from another seller in time for my intended use of the product. Their products look gorgeous in the pictures, but I would think twice before doing any business with them over the web.

MXO Woodworking creates absolutely fabulous versatile items. I personally bought a double sided chalkboard for my wedding, but will later be using it for my daughters room for her to practice art and drawing on… Of course with chalk :)… Their items come strong and sturdy… Very well built, and very beautiful… You can literally use their items for a rustic romantic look, shabby chic, vintage, country, or use it for a household item there after :)… The fact that they do custom orders is amazing! They are true to their word and you would not be disappointed in any item you purchase from this shop. In fact, it is better in person!!! Will definitely be purchasing more items from them :)!!! Thank you so much!

I love this business. Great people and lovely, quality creations. I purchased an 8 pack of small drink dispenser chalk signs and they were simple and rustic, exactly what I wanted. I was able to return a bulky expensive chalk sign I purchased at pottery barn. I’d rather have something custom any day and this business will be my go-​to for my woodworking needs:)

I found MXO on craigslist in a last ditch effort to see if there were any affordable easy to get chalkboards for my wedding. I was a bit skeptical about going out to pick up anything from craigslist, but it was super easy and my chalkboard was amazing. My wife and I still use it in our kitchen as a nice piece to write down grocery lists and a little menu for the day. I couldn’t be happier.

MXO WoodWorking recently did a chalkboard frame for me that I use daily! This company has a unique and precise way of making their pieces to best fit each customer, I wanted something that was small enough for me to carry around at an event, nevertheless big enough for everyone to see… and they certainly met my needs. I highly recommend MXO WoodWorking for your unique wood collections!!! I will definitely be using them again in the near future.

We (Redeemer Presbyterian Church of Orange County) bought one a-​frame chalkboard sign as an informational sign for our Sunday morning worship services. The sign was well crafted and ascetically beautiful. After we put up our new sign on the first Sunday morning, we had such an overwhelmingly positive response that we ordered another 5 signs and a custom sign frame!
We could not speak more highly of the signs from MXO WoodWorking, and are literally trying to find more spaces/​uses for more signs because we love them so much.
On top of that all, the pricing is incredibly low and affordable for the hand-​crafted quality of a product that you are receiving.
Buy Michael’s work, you will not be disappointed.

I purchased two chalkboards from MXO for my upcoming wedding. I am beyond thrilled with the quality and value! They are substantial and will last for ages. The chalkboards are actual chalkboards and not chalkboard paint, which makes them durable for chalk and chalk markers. I love mine!

I called MXO Woodworking and asked if they could craft a desk top from reclaimed wood for a sit down and a stand up desk. They can and they did. But that’s not as special as the super-​fair price they quoted. And THAT’s not as awesome as this…
Michael said about 2 to 2 ½ weeks to build because next week their son was due to be born. I asked if he had alternatives to build it quicker (I know, I sound like a jerk. I was actually thinking he’d suggest another wood shop or something). Instead, Michael said, «you can have it Monday if I start tomorrow». This all went down Thursday night.
He sent pics of his work on Saturday and I got a note from him today (Sunday) that they are done and ready to be picked up.
THAT level of service is the difference between me paying for his work and thanking him, and me paying for his work, thanking him, posting a review on Unilocal,Facebook and Twitter, and posting finished pictures of the desk everywhere I can.
For the businesses who complain about poor ratings and reviews, think a bit more like Michael and MXO and you might find fewer 1 & 2 star ratings.
