Montessori Child Development Center

This school has been a fantastic experience for our family. The management, teachers, and students are all so warm, welcoming, and fun to talk to. You can see they clearly care about each child, and treat each child as an individual.
Our son was in a traditional home daycare from the age of one year until 18 months. I realized very quickly that the traditional daycare was limiting his growth. He seemed to advance very quickly for a month of socializing with other kids. Then it leveled off. Too much watching Curious George… diapers weren’t getting changed often enough. We decided to look elsewhere.
Once we walked through MCDC, we were sold. Our son got right into a circle of kids reading a book. He was clearly excited. The other children were very inviting and happy to have him. I’d never seen young kids act like this before. They were so friendly and helpful.
Now he’s been in the school since the first day he could (right after turning 18 months). He’s just past 2 years old now. His growth has been exponential over this time. It took one month to see him just explode with speaking, understanding, and motor skills. We were in the grocery store and he just started calling out the names of fruits. We didn’t teach him this, they did.
He cleans up after himself. He listens. He is happy to go to school, and happy to come home. He’s speaking so many words we’ve lost count. He has recently started speaking in complete sentences. He sings songs and clearly is enjoying it.
One of the best parts is the school costs a bit less than the daycare we were going to. They’re keeping him in clean diapers (no more diaper rash!) and we know what he’s eating every day. He’s not watching any TV. He’s getting on the playground a couple times per day. He loves books, art, and crafts. If we pull out paint or crayons at home now, he jumps into his chair and gets ready to work.
I could go on for pages about how wonderful this school has been for us. We are still there and will continue as long as we can. I recently spoke to another parent whose child has been going there for years. He’s sad his son is graduating and moving on to another school. He said to stay as long as you can.

I’ve had my son here for about 9 months. and he has learned so much in a short period of time. he went from only knowing 5 words with no sentences at the age if 2 to fully expressing himself with full sentences in just 6 months. everyday he comes home and surprises me with the things he says. the teachers are great and teach with a very calm and soft voice. never yelling obnoxiously like most preschools. the school has a numeric locked door and is an old elementary school in the middle of a residential neighborhood. I wished they served food since my wife doesn’t cook. but they do order pizza every Friday and provide snacks throughout the day. this is a true Montessori. regular church preschools can not compete so don’t compare. I went to a Baptist preschool and all their «teachers» had facial piersings and looked like volunteers with no credentials.

Montessori CDC has been really good. It’s run by 2 sisters who care about the school. The teachers have been really good — they explain carefully to the kids. My child’s math are 1 – 2 grades above public school. At beginning of 2^nd grade, my child already knew the entire 1 – 10 multiplication table, while kids in public school were only learning 2s and 5s tables.

We’ve had both our girls at MCDC since they were toddlers. They are now in the Elementary program and doing great. Our plan was to transition to a local (excellent) public school for our daughters when they reached 1^st grade. Our older asked to go back to MCDC after spending a year at the local public school. Each child has a different experience in different learning environments. MCDC has been great for our girls.
