Been here twice, but probably wouldn’t come again. When I came here with my husband, it was for lunch and he did not like his food at all. Mine was ok and I was willing to give them another chance. Came here again for breakfast. I figured breakfast is hard to mess up, so why not? When asked for a table inside or outside, we said outside and I could tell by the slight eye roll that the hostess was annoyed. She said they would need to set up our table, so we waited outside. After a few minutes, we were asked to move to the benches because the outside tables were for people with dogs(?). To which I’m thinking, it’s 9:00 in the morning, there is literally no one outside, no one at these tables at all, no one with a dog around, not even anyone walking a dog nearby. In addition, we were only waiting on them to set up our table, yet we were being treated like we were loitering. But whatever, we moved to the bench while we waited for a table. We get to our table for 5 and they had set up two tables and put them together. As we were getting served, we were asked to pass things down to each other. It was so weird! The food was alright, but it is overpriced. For 5 people for breakfast, it was well over $ 100, and it wasn’t anything super fancy. It reminded me why we normally go to Hot Off the Grill. The location is nice, but to me it’s not worth it. However if they revamp their service skills and reduce their prices, I would be willing to give them another chance.

The grossest food at a restaurant that I have ever eaten. I took one bite and could hardly bare to swallow it. It tasted like a old cafeteria burger that they froze for 2 years, defrosted and then let it sit for 3 months and then put it in the microwave to serve as an 11 dollar burger. But hey at least these ladies that know absolutely nothing about customer service gave us 1 dollar off. I will not be returning unless this place is under completely new ownership and even then I would be scared after the bad taste they left in my mouth

The food was meh… Their chili spaghetti was quite gross actually… I’m not sure why it’s one of their specials. This place deserves a star for the view though. Love the concept of a lakeside café, just executed poorly

Love this place. Perfect location for lunch or a sunset dinner. The ambiance makes this place like no other, definitely a Huntington Beach gem.

Had lunch here the other day with friends and we were delighted!!! Atmosphere, food and service were perfect. It’s in a wonderful old park by a little lake. The food, price and Katie(the server) made us very happy. I/we will definitely be back. I’d say a lot more about this gem, but I’m busy and when I find a good thing I tend to keep it a secret.

My husband suggested we go here for lunch with our 4 year old daughter. We live close but have never been. I’ll admit, I had pretty low expectations. The reviews definitely almost scared us off. That said, our experience was better than expected! Food was okay — good, but not great. They do have a lot to choose from. My husband got an omelet and I got a breakfast sandwich. Their breakfast potatoes were really good. A few sandwiches came out that looked pretty good too. Service was quick. Our waitress wasn’t overly friendly, and I had to ask several times for more water, but overall it was good compared to what we read in some of the reviews. The patio and view are what made this place worth a 4 star review(otherwise I would say 3). They have umbrellas up so you aren’t directly in the sun. You have a fantastic view of the lake and the ducks and geese, which my daughter loved. I would recommend to try this restaurant. It is kid friendly and the food is good enough with the beautiful ambiance. We took a walk around the park afterwards.

Just had one of THEBEST lunches! The staff was TOPNOTCH! Truly a warm family place, our server made us fell like we were her friends, not just another table of 2. Everything on the menu looked so yummy and can’t wait to go back! Bonus with a great view of the lake! … and the walking trail that will have to do — especially after seeing an Oreo Dessert on the menu!

Please don’t go here. If anyone asks about it, tell them not to go here. Actively support letting this place die so a friendlier café can take its spot again like Alice’s before it. Right now they’re unnaturally rude, the waiters visibly don’t want to be there, they’re not animal friendly, they are malicious and ignorant in their policies, and they are undeserving of the wonderful spot by the pond they’ve occupied and ruined.

Best part of this restaurant is sitting outside overlooking the lake. Food was 3 stars, service could be improved– AM hostess lacks people skills. Most disappointing part of the experience was a$ 3.50 iced tea. $ 7 for two drinks and I asked for one to go so I felt like I got my money out of the deal. I’ll go back when they price match their drink to other local establishments bc I think that price is a slap in the face.

Oh my god, I would put negative 11 stars if I could. We came around 5:45 pm(while the sun was still up) on Friday night. There was maybe two other tables. Our waiter took over 15 minutes to even bring us the menu. But when we got it, we asked about their 2 for $ 20 special. He was a bit impatient, but its Friday night, I assumed no one really wants to work? I don’t know. But he seemed bothered that we even asked for the menu. So we waited another 15 – 20 minutes, I went to the bathroom, on my way back out to the patio, the server had the audacity to ask me to bring out the menus for me and my boyfriend. If he was busy, I’d completely understand, being a former server myself, but this place was beyond dead. There was one other table. I walked outside a bit frustrated but too hungry to go somewhere else, I should have left. But my boyfriend and I decided on what to order, the waiter came out, saw my coffee was empty(he looked, I sat across the table from where he was standing), but even if he didn’t see, he should have checked up since it was past 40 minutes since he gave me my coffee. Anyways, we ordered the Ribs and Fish and chips, it was a decent portion, but the special came with ONLY salad and not soup, I couldn’t even upgrade, which I understand. But the salad was a bit sad, I had 2 and ¾ of a croûton and my boyfriend had ONE. my salad was a bit wilted. Didn’t bother to complain, by this time the sun has already set, nice view though! When I asked for a refill, it took a long while for the server to come back, by then my boyfriend and I were almost done with our food, I joked if our server was bright enough to ask the kitchen to start our dessert, nope. My boyfriend went to use the bathroom, had to ask for our check, then remind the server about our dessert. Which we asked for it to be to-go. As soon as we got home, I opened the box to see these sad pieces of peach cobbler. My boyfriend loved it, I didn’t. But I won’t really be coming back unless I had like 3 and a half hours to enjoy my dinner…

I’ve only had breakfast here but it’s seriously so good and gives you big portions for a reasonable price. I love the breakfast sausage and house potatoes! Drinks are a bit overpriced though. Good location for bringing your dog and then going to walk your food off around the scenic lake view

I’d like to start by pointing out that Tyler K’s «review» was probably based on his being fired from the restaurant & therefore shouldn’t be considered, in my opinion. Seems that he may have had friends of his post nasty comments as well, very immature behavior. Now back to my few experiences @ Kathy May’s…the service has always been great, never been an issue, the view is, obviously, beautiful & is a bonus to sitting outside & enjoying the food. I have never had anything but good food there, nice portions & reasonable prices… no complaints here whatsoever! I highly recommend giving Kathy May’s your business when looking for casual dining in a beautiful setting… the employees are kind & service is quick & accurate & the atmosphere is warm & welcoming!

This whole restaurant is absolute garbage compared to what it used to be(it was called Alice’s before). Service used to be good, but now it’s awful. After the remodel, the place has NO character and feels cheap inside and out. I have fond memories of going here as a kid, 10 years old or so, having to push through all the people because it always seemed so busy. There was so much to look at in Alice’s, that your kids wouldn’t be glued to any smart phones/ipads. Used to have amazing cinnamon rolls and you used to be able to buy your kids a bag of bird feed to feed the geese. Talk about memories! These days, the music is ill fitting, your food will come out cold, and so will your server! If you want some amazing breakfast and amazing service thats not too far a drive from here, go to El Chile Frito instead.

The view is the best thing about this place. Service is not great & food is A-OK. I’ve had the same experience as many others with the slow service & attitude from the staff. They are definitely not dog friendly here.

Heard of this place and had been wanting to check it out since it’s in my neighborhood. Can’t believe it took me so long to check this place out, I love hidden gems! Gem being the view and comfort, of course(4 stars for that)! I did read all the reviews about food quality so I wasn’t expecting anything close to gourmet here. We got a table in an awesome spot on the patio! One of the scorching weekends in OC and we were still super comfy, enjoying a nice breeze and a great view of the lake! Will definitely be back with my doggy! This park/lake is way better than the one closeby with Park Bench café, IMO. Food and service were ok here.

I had no idea this place existed. I’ve been to the Park Bench Café many times but never knew where this place was until one of our friends invited us to breakfast. I really liked the outdoor seating as it overlooks a lake and it’s really peaceful. The food was your typical breakfast and lunch fare. The prices on the entrees were reasonable. I gave this place a minus star because the service was a little slow and the food wasn’t outstanding. It was just good. Surprisingly they are open until 9 p.m. everyday. I’m not sure if that’s just for the summer or all year round. I’ll be back as I would like to try other items on their menu, but I’m not real anxious to get back there.

Ok… just…Ok Pros: Nice interior. Comfortable patio and dog friendly. Great Cinnamon Roll. Awesome views of lake and squirrels come to visit. Very handicapped friendly in terms of parking and seating. Cons: HOTHOTHOT inside. Ok Food. Bottom Line: I would not go out of my way to come back, but I would go if friends really wanted it.

I’m a fan of this place because of the outdoor patio, lake view, and they’re pet friendly. As far as the food goes there’s nothing that quite wow’s me, because it’s very much average diner food, but the atmosphere totally won me over. We had great service, our server was so kind, and left a really nice impression. There’s definitely a variety to chose from as far as menu options go. I had a bite of my friend’s belgian waffle and it was really good. I had their patty melt which isn’t as good as other places but it still did the job, the sweet potato fries however were awesome. I was told that their foods for breakfast and lunch are better than their dinner items, though this view during sunset would be phenomenal. It was nice watching the scenery and wildlife, like the geese walking by chasing after dogs on leashes. It’s definitely a place to sit down, relax and enjoy beautiful weather.
